Must see doc on the Ukraine war
ashton-lawrence697 February 2020
I was lucky enough to catch this documentary at a limited screening in London fall of 2018. As a general comment, the background to the making of this documentary is as compelling as the subject matter itself and is skillfully represented in the final production.

Highly recommended for an exploration into a chapter of the anthology of the war in Ukraine. Congratulations to the filmmakers for their ability to present such a nuanced and humanistic viewpoint to an on-going conflict, which forces us to question our responsibility to intervene as nations which allegedly champion freedom from tyranny.

Brief synopsis from BFI: "Two independent filmmakers document the human cost of the conflict in Ukraine investigating the subtleties of propaganda and manipulation by government powers to influence public opinion."

Wow... What a great watch!

Compared to other docs on the ukraine war this one really gets close and personal with the people in Ukraine. Some really intense interviews with locals. I think because this was filmed independently, the filmmakers were able to get interviews and perspectives that mainstream media isn't able to.

Anyone wanting to understand some of the recent history of what is happening in Ukraine today you should give this a watch.
