Singam 3 a definite treat for action movie lovers! Fast-paced film which turns out to be both positive and negative !!!
Prash_Vengatesh11 February 2017
Singam 3 a definite must watch movie for those who falls under the face-paced action genre. A great round of applause to Suriya the hero of this movie who carried the entire movie in his shoulder (apart from all the shouting) Suriya did true justice to the character. And the captain of the ship director Hari has once again proved that he is the king of commercial movies in India. This is the fastest movie under his direction.

We have to salute director Hari for pointing out the medical and electronic waste subject where corrupted politicians secretly deals with foreign countries, which is happening in India. Yes! Its is happening and great respect to Hari for pointing this out. As said earlier, due to the speed of the movie this messages was totally ignored by many. Hari could have strengthen this medical and electronic wastage problem.

Pace of the film was too fast but for no reason. It wasn't leading anywhere. Same old cat and mouse game. There were many logic loopholes, but at the end of the day its a "masala commercial" genre which was invented by us Indians which we are "proud" of. -_- Come on man we invented our own genre. Jokes aside.. SPEAKING OF JOKES.. Harris Jayaraj THE BIGGEST JOKE in this film, worst music and BGM ever for an film and it just had to be Suriya's movie (the most talked about combo Suriya-Harris). Shruti Hassan could have been totally avoided and Soori's comedy turned out to be a disastrous one.

But apart from all this the energy Suriya had for this movie will grip you towards the screen and the hard work of Hari and his team in delivering a film that wont even let you blink once is definitely worth the shot! A great action cop film ! My score - 6.9/10

"A below average fast paced movie with the same story all over again"
vishnu-dileep084 September 2017
This time Durai Singam is in Vizag to clean up the place of all of its toxic waste.

It's the same story-line again there is nothing new no new ideas it's like they are making us watch Singam 1 again and again. I was disappointed after watching Singam 2 now Singam 3. This movie is just for Suriya fans, but I did not feel this as a mass entertainer to me it was not. It was extremely fast paced as during some scenes we ask ourselves what just happened. Next talking about the songs none of it was catchy it was made with no hard work and just for the sake of it they needed some songs so let's make some rubbish up. Still don't understand why they needed Anushka and Sruthi in this movie as they were not given any importance. They always need two actresses in movies and they are not shown any importance. Suriya did a good job acting vise as well as all that action sequences. He is not to be blamed for the story-line.

No I would not recommend this movie to anyone.

Notable Acting

Suriya

S3 is another loud entry into the loudest franchise of India.Watch it if you are a huge fan of such films
shobanchittuprolu16 March 2017
Singam 3 (2017): Singam series has the rare feat of being a successful franchise in South India.Directed by Hari and starring Surya as Durai Singam, this series has gained popularity because of high octane action and racy screenplay. But If u ask me I would say that Singam is the loudest movie of India.

Plot: DCP Duraisingam (Suriya), an honest police officer from Tamil Nadu is assigned a case by the Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh Sathyanarayana (Sarath Babu). He's in charge of the murder of Visakhapatnam police commissioner Ramakrishna (Jayaprakash). Since the film is set in Andhra, Duraisingam beats up some 30 goons in his introductory scene. Through his investigations, Duraisingam comes to know about the illegal transportation of non-biodegradable wastes from Sydney to Vizag by a billionaire Vittal Prasad (Thakur Anoop Singh).

Plus Points: 1)Surya: Surya is the sole reason for the success of Singam series. But I think it would be best if he leave this series aside as he have lot of fans who expect much different movies from him like 24,Vaanaram Aayiram etc..

Minus Points: Hari is one of the few film maker in recent times who always believes that being loud is the only way to shatter box office but Why doesn't he worry about audience ears.

Soori plays a comical police constable Veeram, whose one-liners are pathetic. His portions with Shruti Haasan are cringe-worthy.Sruthi Hasan has no scope for acting in this.Anushka looks too old.Villains are not noteworthy.

No words about that loud and pathetic songs and BGM

So,S3 is another loud entry into the loudest franchise of Indian.Watch it if you are a huge fan of such films.

the lion roared loudly although
southhitz9 February 2017
The Singam sequels are superficial cop stories. To enjoy it, you will have to distance yourself from reality. The treatment could be loud and not practically possible, but you get 100% action packed fun. This edition of Singam is no different when it comes to entertainment.

When you are going to bring back a powerful character like Durai Singam, you definitely need a strong and never-heard-before story. It has an interesting core story and Hari has done full justice to the script with an engaging screenplay.

Soori's comedy doesn't work what so ever. In most Hari films the comedy slows the tempo of the film. Though Hari has understood that and reduced the number of comedy scenes, none of the few that were shown in this film attracts you and sometimes even annoys you. The editor does have a major work to do as he has so many scenes to maneuver around than a normal commercial film. Though you laud him for giving us a crisp product, we also need to point out the fact that the final product is not smooth and few scenes get over even before it starts.

Bad all around

Warning: Spoilers
Having liked Singam 1 and managed to sit through Singam 2, I probably had middling hopes for this nausea-inducing, noisefest, directed by the twitchy hand of Hari. Its hard to say what is worst - the music, the story, the unbelievable plot lines or the sheer noise level. There is not one redeeming quality in this movie. Not a one. What was Surya thinking?

Typical Singam Style Entertainer
geevashibu116 February 2017
Singam 3 was one of the most anticipated Tamil film of 2017 starring Suriya as the protagonist. As like the prequels Durai Singam is set for another risky crime investigation where he encounters great challenges which he overcomes and eventually succeeding in his mission. The movie is all about Singam and Suriya yet again has proved that he is the master in acting films of these sorts. The acting has been complete and dominating throughout the movie. The overall cast let us down as some of the actors lacked their part and failed to grab much attention of the audience. The tone of the movie was in no much difference with its prequels. The romance set between the story didn't rise up to the mark. The BGM was quite loud whereas most songs in the movie failed to impress. The climax was too predictable after the first half. The direction was pretty ordinary ,mixing up comedy and serious scenes. The story sometimes went out of logic but the stunts were really awesome and pulsating. The stunts were of high class even though it was a little exaggerated. Overall the movie is a good entertainer for the its stunts and comedies but only a one time watch for the story.

One of the worst movie i have ever seen in Tamil
shivakumarc31 March 2017
Although Singam 3 belongs to the genre thriller i felt this movie as a spoof comedy. The making of the the film is utter disaster. The director Hari has spoiled the actor in Surya. The performance of Surya in this film is the worst i have seen. The Audience like would be glad if singam 4 is not made.

A hat trick from Director Hari and Surya
aniseprakash9 February 2017
The story sets in soon after the title card. The first half an hour was slow. But once the investigation gets intense the movie, like the camera of Priyan moves faster. The last hour an hour before the interval kicked out the dizziness.

Second half has every element to entertain the audience – except a song. When the cat and mouse game begins between Surya and the antagonist there was no time to look back. Everything Surya does get a whistle from the audience. The climax was much predictable one. Hari has left the franchise open again.

Scenes analysis: As mentioned earlier the first half an hour or so was a drag. The item song adds up to the tiresome. A 10 minutes flashback about Surya and Anushka was enforced only for a song – It was predictable. Though few fans (including me) were busy preparing their mind for a boring film, Hari was busy webbing the story around.

Once Surya kicks the one day operation the story kick starts as well. The investigation scenes pull back the audience into the movie. The truth behind the murder of the commissioner was a possible reality. Though the audience knows the true antagonist, Surya was kept unknown throughout the first half (Pity of him). Unlike Singam 2 the interval block gives the Antagonist the upper hand.

After interval the movie travels as a cat and mouse game. The scenes in Australia were predictable with few Hari's touch. The way Surya catches the return flight to India was Goosebumps moment for Singam and Surya fans.

The hacking scenes were great for a movie but only technical team should answer the logic behind it. Each and every move by Surya in the second half brings in whistles. But the last fifteen minutes was a drag the movie again.

There are few emotional dialogues and proud moments as well. Singam plants himself as an Indian as well as a decent human being in every opportunity he gets.

Cast performance: Surya as Dhurai Singam has done an exceptional job. His entry just reveals what he is going to do the entire movie. His expressions in the action scenes, his emotional dialogues and confident walk carve him as a real police officer in the audience's mind. Surya fans will celebrate him throughout the movie for sure.

Anushka Shetty as Kavya was used only for a song and a few scenes. Her screen presence was comparatively less, but has done a good job.

Shruthi Hassan as Vidhya aka Agni impresses in the initial scenes, but once the movie sets in she does feel like a burden. She was introduced along with Surya in the same scene. Her character was predictable in the first half and her actions too in the second half. Off course she has a song to dance with Surya.

Sharat Saxena as Reddy was not that powerful as an antagonist. His physic does threaten but not his actions. Thakur Anoop Singh as Vittal Prasad was a muscular antagonist. He has done a decent job. Though his slang was not understandable at times, he manages impress the audience.

Soori was roped in for comedy track which fails miserably. It slows down the phase of the movie and it didn't create a moment of laughter as well. Robo Shankar who was seen as a comedian so far has got a serious role which he delivers with perfection (But watching his comedies were good rather than a serious police officer).

Krish as Surya's assistant has delivered what was needed for the role. Radhika Sarath Kumar and Sarath Babu Impresses in the fewer frames they appear. All the other characters have done a good job.

Team Technical aspects: Priyan, the man behind the camera has done a great job. His camera has traveled at the same phase as the story. Off course it travels from a continent to continent in seconds. Editing by V.T.Vijayan and T.S.Jay was good as well. They have placed the right scenes at the right time.

Harris Jeyaraj was one of the greatest disappointments I felt. The BGM was OK but not that appealing. Once the words Singam… Singam… fades away the BGM too fades with it. Wifi Wifi was the only line I could remember from the songs. I am sorry sir but that's the truth.

Hari has put in lot of hard works. As I said before many franchise fails after the first movie but Hari still maintain the tempo of Singam. His screenplay was great and crisp. He hooks in the audience till the end of the movie (Except the climax). Though his stories are predictable he makes it exciting.

Negatives: Though the movie was a fast phased and entertaining one there few side-lines as well. The first half an hour sets the story but fails to impress. Shruthi's character feels like a forced one. Once her true identity is revealed she doesn't have anything to do. Soori's comedy track was another forced element. Most of his scenes slow down the movie.

There were many logical loop holes. I am not sure about the hacking part but why all the officers except Surya and his team were double agents? One might feel the same when watching the movie. In the entire police department Surya was the only brainy. All the others wait for him to crack the code. Human bodies were thrown like a cricket ball throughout the movie. Surya is the only man shoots the criminals without failing.

Though the sidelines drag the movie the tight screenplay and Surya's acting will never let you down. The Singam franchise saves itself with another hit for sure. Family audience will love it; if you are a lover of mass entertainer don't miss it. Surya's fans will go crazy.

Same old same old
Abdulxoxo22 September 2022
The film offers a lot to enjoy. The action sequences were surprisingly hardcore and well-done especially the stunts involving cars. The fight choreography wasn't too realistic but nevertheless entertaining. The cinematography was good too, I particularly like the fish eye lens and some interesting camera angles. The performance was serviceable. The script does offers some dramatic tension especially between the protagonist and the main antagonist. However, it goes places that underwhelm, the second and last act drags on forever. The climax came way too early but it keeps pushing it until I almost lose interest. Some side characters were terribly written and the attempt on comedy woefully failed. On the whole, a third instalment that offers similar story and direction as its predecessors and brings nothing new to the table, although I did appreciate it entertainment value.

Suriya Handsome as ever !!!!!!
naisha-337978 February 2017
A film that does not let you get out from your seats. The action packed performance of Suriya is the big fat reason for this. For Suriya fans it will be a big celebration at the theatres. When comes to songs the best feeling is the Harris Jayaraj Musics It just rocked all over the theatre. We were extremely happy with what suriya did his hard-work and dedication towards the filim was just amazing. The story is more acting packed and suriya comes in executive dresses more than compered to cop uniforms as he is an investigating officer.Soori performed very well to entertain the audience. The villain was just amazing handsome villain for a handsome hero . The director hari must be proud of the sequel.

Good one... But enough of hunting by lion
nawazkhan-4568717 November 2020
The only series which entertained us is only Singam series but it loses its charm on further sequels and getting bored.

The negatives were Shruti Haasan and Soori. Their acting looked so awkward Other roles were better mainly Suriya 's role

And we don't want any other sequels 🙏🙏

Si3 follows the same pattern as its predecessors but it's watchable for Suriya's power-packed performance
kumarankulam12 April 2021
Many directors are right now in the trend of making sequels to many blockbusters released in Tamil. Hari's Singam franchise is definitely one of the most important sequels that have clicked among the masses. Adding to its success, Hari's Si3 is the third action flick of his popular cop franchise. Just like its previous versions, Si3 is a fast-paced action masala that again revolves around the super energetic Suriya as Durai Singam the powerful cop from Tamil Nadu. It must be noted that Suriya has kept the true essence of that character even after 7 years of the first Singam's release. The film follows from where it has ended in Singam 2. Hari has made sure that this film has an international appeal by adding an antagonist from Australia. Unfortunately, the film doesn't seem to be properly built in to get reach out globally. In fact, the film has the typical issues from its predecessor Singam 2 and it only seems to be a rehash of that version. We have a big cast who are left with no big scope in the film. Even, the muscularly strong antagonist is not a big threat to our Durai Singam because our hero wins over him in every single threatening moment. Soori's comedy sequences and Shruthi Hassan's scenes are quite similar to the ones of Santhanam and Hansika from Singam 2. They are not able to bring much-needed laughter which is quite disappointing. The lack of logic, the over glorifying scenes, and the superheroic action sequences are just things that are out of the world and Hari's typical style of filmmaking. The glittering effects that he uses to create the heroic effect seem to be overused throughout the film. The flaws in the writing are probably letting down the film's quality. The subplots, the unnecessary comedy tracks, and the not-so-challenging obstacles that Durai Singam faces don't keep the film engaging. Another biggest letdown would be the replacement of Devi Sri Prasad with Harris Jayaraj. Harris Jayaraj has his own style of composing tunes and Singam is probably not his fort. The songs and the background score are just average. The over-electrifying theme used for Suriya is too loud but it justifies his heroism. Despite the disappointing aspects, Si3 stays true to its genre, its initial core idea, and of course its protagonist Suriya. Well, Si3 is out and out a Suriya film. Like their previous collaborations, Hari proved that he can make a tailor-made action film for Suriya's larger-than-life star image. The way he has crafted his character makes us believe that Durai Singam is our very own superhero disguised as a police officer. Technically, Si3 is really grand in every single aspect including the cinematography and the setup. Overall, Si3 follows the same pattern as its predecessors but it's watchable for Suriya's power-packed performance.

an exhausting experience
rukshan-samsung14 February 2017
let me tell you that i knew the story of the movie even before its release. it was so easy to assume and the director is so good at repeating the same story with a slightly different screenplay. but for those who are interested in fast pace and doesn't bother about what the story is might like it but not true moviegoers. this movie is all about screaming chasing and bashing. not even 10minutes without a fight or a chasing scene. only few directors are trying to take the industry to the next level but movies like this will drag them down to where they were 10 years ago.

SAY NO TO SINGAM 4

"Yet Another Loud & Uninspiring Addition To The Singam Franchise "
afsalthodupuzha9 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Singam 2 released in 2013 failed to match the thrills and adrenaline rush that the prequel offered with its mediocre storyline that had nothing new to boast of except for a couple of well-choreographed action sequences and a highly energetic performance by Suriya.Singam 3 too is no exception and follows the same formula of the second part with typical Hari style entertainment that has glorious loopholes spread through the narration.

Hari's way of storytelling has always followed the same pattern- An unbeatable hero mouthing lengthy punch dialogs, half a dozen over-the-top action sequences,an item dance,a second heroine just for the sake of glamour quotient and a separate comedy track that most probably wont have any connection whatsoever with the major plot of the movie. This formula has proved more or less successful for the director, but for how long can he stick with this predictable style that's losing its grip on movie going audience as days pass by! The brisk pace of the narration, fiery punch dialogs and Suriya's powerful cop act do act as saving graces here, but the repetitiveness of the storyline may hurt a smooth cinematic experience for even the fans of typical mass masala entertainers from Kollywood.

Undoubtedly the second half of the movie was slightly better on comparison with the first and the cat and mouse chase between Duraisingam and antagonist Vittal was presented well even though letdown big time by a mediocre climax that defies logic of all sorts. The comedy track was utterly disappointing and failed to evoke a single laugh with its over the top crude humor.

Suriya was at his energetic best and the athletic actor gave a powerful act with impressive dialogue delivery and mammoth screen presence during action sequences.Anushka had very less screen time offered and failed to pull out a notable performance.Thakoor Anoop Singh played the role of baddie convincingly even though his dialogue delivery lacked the much needed fieriness in it.Shruti Hassan was totally annoying right from the word go.Soori and his comedy track was horrible.Among others Radhika Sharatkumar and Sharat Saxena gave neat performances.

The VFX part was tacky and there were a good number of notable glitches particularly in the second half.Editing by V.T.Vijayan and T.S.Jay was mediocre.Abundance of drone sequences and shaky frames by Priyan made it difficult to focus on the screen after a point.

Harris Jayraj's songs were strictly average, but picturized well by Hari. The Background score was too loud and irritating to say the least.

Overall,Singam 3 is a highly predictable Hari style mass entertainer that fails to pack required punch to call it a thoroughly enjoyable fare.

An Excellent Masala Entertainer !!!!!
santhoshsanctum8 February 2017
Suriya is the one and only reason for the awesomeness of this movie. He is just rocking as an actor all through. The first half is just pakka amazing full of entertainment. As actresses of the film Shruthi and anushka are appearing in compressed roles.Nxt amazing part is the punch dialogues and especially the English dialogues.Next is the appearance and looks of Duraisingam (Suriya Sir) with his tight packed body and the singam cuts he looks exactly like a lion. The last but not the least the songs.locations, visual effects, and the handsome villain for a handsome hero, even though he is a debutant he rocked all through the film.Harris Jayaraj Musical nothing more to say about that he will always rock the feeling when we hear the songs at the theater is unexplainable.Hen comes to story line it is a more complicated story line as compared to the last two parts with a little suspense. All and all it is an entertaining film.

Okay but not the best
charmedones-1430720 February 2021
This movie was okay, not the worst but definitely not the best, I mostly watched this because of Suriya and Anushka Shetty, without them I wouldn't have given it a shot, was disappointed that Anushka wasn't in it as much as I thought she would. But even with that, Suriya/Anushka makes it bearable enough to watch.

Definitely over the top type of movie, it was interesting to see Sydney as one place in the movie, as an Indian-Australian myself.

As expected and equally entertaining
sraavan-narayanan12 February 2017
Singam 3 The film is surely the first trilogy in tamil film industry. And making a trilogy series successful is something that only a director like Hari can do. Its the same old background story with a cop investigating a series of events and finds the culprit. But what makes the movie interesting is the screenplay. The movie goes in 4g speed. First let me clarify this. Many people have said the bgm and songs suck. Let me tell you the songs are way better than DSP's songs for the same series. And the bgm were actually good. But the only point is the bgm has been made loud to suit the scenes. Hari has indeed wanted that from harris but actually the bgm was good and suitable to those scenes. SURYA has done a neat job of portraying the role with the same characteristics. Anushka and Shruthi have just played the same role of how commercial heroines do in usual movies. It's only Hari and Surya who rock throughout the movie. Their combo definitely strikes the chord again. Watch it with your family and you will surely enjoy. Don't expect something new from it. It's the same old masala commercial film which will not make you upset when you leave the theatre

Excellent action movie.Surya only can do films and act like this and I challenge that no one can do this type of quality act.Hope Singam 4 would arrive and continue to roar as these series of Singam movie. Also about the director Hari for giving us the wonderful movies and perfection in the style he shows the hero very manly.Heroines do execute their act in good way.Comedy could have been good as I expected but they are not so.Any how I rate it 10.

Sparkling Singam
surya-7240412 February 2017
Singam 3 is a fast-paced, larger-than-life movie. If you are a fan of Singam franchise, you will go crazy with this movie.

Soori comedy track, Shruthi Hassan track and songs are like some points where we can breathe a little in the fast paced screenplay. Maybe Director Hari intentionally kept these elements to complete the package for a commercial masala film and also to keep the already excited fans by the adrenaline rush, calm. But I feel if such elements were removed we have a gripping tale from the start to the end.

Surya sparkles as Durai Singam. His dialogue delivery is near perfect. Durai Singam's principles and virtues give real goosebumps. Inspirational at times too.

A film definitely to be watched not just for action and racy screenplay or editing but also for Suriya's performance and for Durai Singam's hunt :)
