This could be a whole movie

I liked Marco Polo a lot, and this character is really worthy of a spinoff from the series. It is just made as a teaser, therefore short. And that is the only problem, other than being short it was wonderful.

Great backstory for this character. Looks like someone fanfic got produced@

I got to admit, while watching Marco Polo, i was fact checking on wikipedia constantly... i couldnt help it. But one thing that threw me off was, i dont know why a taoist priest (refered to as monk a few times, which isnt accurate) had a queue.... that was a manchurian Qing Dynasty trend. I dont think it was around during the Song Dynasty. I may be getting my wuxia and JinYong novels mixed up, but i dont know if WuDang/WuTang kungfu was around during the Song Dynasty. It was probably after the Ming Dynasty that the WuDang Sect was established. Plus, i find it funny that the English dialogue sounds very much like British English, which is meant to be more sophisticated than American English. If this was in Chinese, the 12th century Chinese would probably sound more formal and sophisticated like the people in London. Nice touch!

homework

It reminds a good homework. correct, precise, admirable. reflecting smart perspective, talent and proposing the perfect missing piece for define a character. and that has two virtues - to seduce the fans of serie, to propse a window to serie for the others. fight scenes, lessons and the answer to a fundamental question. all in admirable manner proposed to public. and, maybe, this is the basic source of seduction of the short film who seems more inspire than a part of the episodes of "Marco Polo" itself. so, an admirable homework.

Great to see the background story told for this character...

Granted, while I never got around to actually finish watching the "Marco Polo" series, then it was still quite nice to watch "Marco Polo: One Hundred Eyes".

The storyline presented here was nicely written and it was quite nice to get the background story for one of the more prominent characters in the series.

And it did, of course, help that they had the original cast from the series appear here for this background piece as well. And you can expect good performances from the likes of Benedict Wong, Tom Wu, Olivia Cheng, Claudia Kim and Michelle Yeoh, to mention but a few.

So if you were (or are) a fan of the "Marco Polo" series, then you most definitely would want to sit down watch watch "Marco Polo: One Hundred Eyes", without a doubt.

Solid watch for fans of the show

Warning: Spoilers
"Marco Polo: One Hundred Eyes" is a short film from a couple days ago that is an addition to the "Marco polo" series before season 2 starts off in summer 2016. This one, however, plays before season 1 actually and elaborates on the past of one of the central characters. I thought this one needs a bit going, but when it does, it is a fairly successful work by Emmy-winning cinematographer Alik Sakharov, who is also the director here. The acting is good, the script is solid as well, including one very tense scene, in which the main character is blinded by snake poison. Nice to see the filmmakers of the series do this little movie to have fans not wait too long for season 2. More series should adapt to that concept. As a whole, it's nothing that would get me interested in watching the series, it's not that great, but a decent little watch in my opinion and I recommend it.

Better than the show

It expanded on what we knew of the blind monk. It was pretty interesting and shows we didn't really know much about him. I'm a lot more willing to see why he "betrayed" his own kind showing the Mongols what he knows because I saw what he went through. Marco Polo is mainly just a boring show for me but this was more interesting than most the show. It expanded on what we knew happened which is a big thing when it's hard to focus.
