Rather enjoyable comedy...

I sat down to watch this 2015 Hong Kong comedy titled "Love Detective" (aka "Mut nui sun tam") from writer Patrick Kong and director Jill Wong without having ever heard of it. I was given the chance to sit down and watch it yesterday, and with my love for the Hong Kong cinema, of course I needed no persuasion.

And I liked this movie. The storyline was good, had some very interesting aspects to it and it wasn't just your average run-of-the-mill comedy. The storyline had different layers to it and were interlaced with the story arches of the various characters, so it was definitely enjoyable.

Ivana Wong was really superbly cast for the lead role, and she carried the movie quite well with her funny performance. Now, I believe I've only seen here once or twice before in movies, but she definitely is talented. Other than her, then there were only some slightly familiar faces on the cast list, so don't expect any heavyweight Hong Kong performers here.

There were good laughs throughout the movie, which definitely served the storyline well. And the storyline wasn't all that predictable, which also worked well in favor of the overall enjoyment of the movie.

My rating of "Love Detective" is a six out of ten stars. I think it is well worth the time, money and effort. And if you enjoy the Hong Kong cinema, then you should watch "Love Detective" if you have the opportunity.
