Simprovised is a terrific Simpsons episode with a very well written plot and a ton of funny moments. It is great fun as we see Homer form an obsession with improvisational comedy, the bits he performs on stage in front of Springfield residents are very funny and Dan Castellaneta manages to really make it feel like Homer is making these up as he goes on. I did find the side story to be a bit forced and unnecessary, though I will admit it had heart and was not just another gag filled time filler, it had no merit, I would have preferred for a story as good as this one to have no distractions. Of course I could not review this episode without mentioning the live segment, it was a huge risk for the show and they succeeded, Castellaneta has a clear talent for improvisation that is very evident, he manages to keep the personalty of the character and be very funny while doing it. Simprovised is a very enjoyable Simpsons as it tells an original story that the series has never done before and is not afraid to take risks.
After butchering a speech at work, Homer turns to improvisational comedy to gain back his confidence.
