One of the Best Episodes

In flashback, it is shown how Madison and Strand fled from the zombies. Then Alicia joins them and they team up with Elena and Hector. Madison and Strand look for Oscar and they propose to clean the hotel from the zombies and make the place home. However the mother of the bride, Ilene, does not want Elena with them. Madison plots a plan to get rid off the zombies. Meanwhile Nick uses a few OxyContin pills to dilute with other substances and increase the quantity to lure the drug dealers. He also learns that Alejandr was really bitten by an infected and has survived. In return, Alejandro gives a house to Nick and he receives a visit during the night.

"Pablo & Jessica" is one of the best episodes of "Fear the Walking Dead". The writers probably noted that the audiences do not care with the fate of the unpleasant characters and made a twist in the story, getting rid of Daniel and Chris. Maybe this is the first non-boring episode of the whole series. Even Madison seems to be less selfish now. My vote is eight.

The Hotel: Really Intense Episode
panagiotis199317 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Im glad we get to see in this episode how Victor and Madison escaped the zombies, using Whisperer tactics. It's nice to see Nick the techniques he learned by being a drug addict. Madison, Victor and Alicia having to work with the survivors at the hotel is interesting. Nick once again is being nice to kids, love that about his character. The way they led the walkers out of the hotel and into the sea wasn't really believable because the zombies kept falling while having no human or sound to follow, that's not how things work in TWD universe in my opinion. First part of the plan? Solid. Second part? Not so solid. Victor and that guy talking about loss and Victor crying was intense. Also there was so much sexual tension between Nick and Luciana so them getting more intimate was to be expected. Also the end with Victor going inside that guy's wife's room to end her suffering was a great way to end the episode. What an amazing episode, my rating is 8/10.

Episode was okay. With some great Walker action and emotional moments, the kiss of Nick and Luciana was a great ending of this episode, still this show doesn't satisfied me.

Very Satisfying and Good Episode

Episode 11 of FTWD's second season is simply amazing and extremely satisfying. Finally things don't get out of control and Madison shows us what a badass leader she can be. I loved Kim Dickens in this episode! Some secondary characters from the hotel-group get some screen time and it was handled very well. I loved the dialogue between Strand and Oscar, it was quite touching and deep.

Nick's storyline also gets a nice development and the inhabitants of this strange community seem to be decent people, especially the doc and Luciana.

I'm enjoying Fear The Walking Dead very much. It's entertaining, captivating and it has a lot of potential!

Storyline: In the bar of the Rosarito Beach Hotel, Madison and Strand fight off an infected herd. Madison hears Alicia calling for her. She kills an infected and opens its belly. She and Strand cover themselves in the infected's blood.

Madison and Strand walk unnoticed among the infected. They exit the bar and barricade the door behind them. Outside, they find the truck missing. Strand presumes Alicia and Ofelia fled together.

Madison and Strand take refuge inside the hotel's spa building. Madison tells Strand that Alicia would never abandon them.

Madison and Strand hear a loud knocking sound. They follow the sound to a locked door and hear Alicia screaming for help on the other side. Madison breaks the lock with a fire extinguisher. Alicia, Elena and Hector pile out.

In the Colonia, Nick visits Alejandro at the infirmary and offers to cut the OxyContin pills with powdered milk to increase their drug supply. He shows Alejandro how to crush an OxyContin pill, mix it with dried milk and create a new pill.

Back at the hotel, Madison proposes they look for Ofelia. Alicia says Ofelia fled. They take stock of their meager supplies. Elena says the main hotel has enough food to last for months but the wedding party guests now control everything.

Madison and Strand stand in front of the hotel and call for Oscar, the groom. Oscar appears on a balcony and allows them inside after they drop their weapons.

Nick and Alejandro cut a new batch of diluted OxyContin pills. Nick brings up the bite scar on Alejandro's neck and expresses skepticism of Alejandro's claim to have survived an infected bite.

Madison and Strand meet with Oscar and Ilene, the mother of the bride. Madison proposes they join forces to make the hotel their home and secure it against infected and enemies. Oscar agrees to help if they kick Elena out. Madison defends Elena. "She killed my daughter," Ilene says tearfully. Madison tells Oscar that her group will remove all infected from the hotel with or without him. He gives them the hotel keys.

After the meeting, Madison and Strand predict that they will have trouble convincing Ilene.

Nick packs some bottles of diluted OxyContin to take to the next drug trade. Alejandro tells Nick that he was bitten while trying to rescue a junkie boy who a mob had mistaken for an infected. His wound then healed without incident, earning him the reputation of the immune.

In the courtyard, Nick and Alejandro see Luciana playing soccer with kids. Nick joins the game. Francisco arrives and tells Alejandro that they found someone torn in pieces. "They found him - Pablo," Luciana realizes.

Nick and Luciana leave Colonia to make the drug trade. Luciana explains that Pablo was her brother. Nick hugs her as she cries.

Hector, Alicia and Strand begin their sweep of the hotel. Hector opens the door to a hotel room, releasing an infected. Alicia stabs it in the head.

Alicia and Hector drag infected bodies from the hotel to the beach. Party guests begin to pitch in. Alicia tells Madison that if they keep taking out the dead one room at a time it will take weeks, maybe even a couple of months, to clear the entire hotel of infected. Alicia discovers a riptide under the pier and hatches a new plan to clear the hotel of all infected in one fell swoop.

Alejandro gives Nick a private trailer. Nick humbly accepts the gift.

Elena brings Madison, Alicia and Strand to a foyer that connects all three sections of the hotel. They devise a plan to channel all the infected into the foyer and onto the pier.

Outside the hotel, Alicia and Hector lure a herd of infected inside by playing music on Alicia's phone.

Meanwhile, Strand and Elena open all the doors to the hotel rooms, releasing the trapped infected.

As the infected are let out, Madison bangs on a metal bowl, using the sound to lead them to the connecting foyer. She's joined by Strand, Elena, Alicia and Hector, all leading herds from different sections of the hotel. When the herds meet, Madison leads the unified pack of infected out onto the pier.

On the beach, Alicia and Hector ride the zodiac into the water as party guests watch from shore. Meanwhile, Madison leads the herd to the end of the pier then jumps into the water, where Alicia and Hector rescue her in the zodiac. The herd follows Madison into the water, where they're swallowed up by the riptide.

Nick teaches himself Spanish in his trailer. Luciana stops by and asks Nick about his family. He tells her that he lost his father relating that, "We've all lost someone."

Madison's group and the party guests feast at a large dining table in the hotel. Noting Oscar's absence, Strand asks Elena where the honeymoon suite is located.

Strand finds Oscar guarding the honeymoon suite. Oscar admits that his undead bride, Jessica, is inside. Strand tells Oscar that the infected Jessica is not his wife anymore. "Death parted you," he says. "Let me help you."

Luciana wakes up on Nick's bed and apologizes for falling asleep. She starts to leave but Nick stops her. They kiss.

Oscar finally gives Strand the key to his room. Strand enters and closes the door behind him.

Pablo & Jessica" delves into the idea of leadership and the complexities of maintaining order and control in a chaotic world

In order to preserve their dwindling medicine supplies, Nick proposes to Alejandro that they trick the bandits they promised to trade medicine to by secretly diluting it with powdered milk. Alejandro is impressed with Nick's ingenuity and accepts him fully into his community. He also confirms to Nick that he had been bitten by a walker and somehow did not turn. He also comforts Luciana after a loss and they grow closer.

Back at the hotel, Madison and Strand meet with Oscar, the leader of the hotel survivors, and manage to negotiate a truce with him. Madison, Strand, Alicia, and other survivors then begin the job of clearing the hotel of infected. They lead them to the pier where the Infected will fall off and get carried away by the ocean current. As they all celebrate, Strand then goes to talk privately with Oscar, who is mourning the loss of his wife now turned zombie. Strand comforts Oscar and convinces him to let his wife go. Oscar gives Strand the key to the hotel room, and he finish her off.

"Pablo & Jessica," is a character-driven episode that focuses on the aftermath of the hotel siege and the growing tension within the group. The episode primarily follows Nick, who finds himself in the midst of a dangerous power struggle between two factions within a survivor community.

One of the episode's main strengths is its exploration of Nick's character and his journey towards finding a sense of purpose in the apocalyptic world. Through his interactions with other survivors, particularly with Luciana and Alejandro, the community's leader, we see Nick wrestling with his own morality and beliefs. This introspective exploration adds depth to Nick's character and sets the stage for his development in future episodes.

Thematically, "Pablo & Jessica" delves into the idea of leadership and the complexities of maintaining order and control in a chaotic world. The episode also touches on themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the lengths people will go to protect their own interests. These themes are further highlighted by the escalating tensions between the survivors and the growing sense of unease within the community.

In conclusion, "Pablo & Jessica" is a compelling episode that deepens our understanding of Nick's character and the challenges he faces in the post-apocalyptic world. Its exploration of complex themes and its character-driven narrative make it a standout installment in the series, setting the stage for the events to come in the remainder of the season.

The only thing we have to fear is cancellation
m-yogibara12 September 2016
Weak, weak, WEAK! Come on AMC you can do better than this crap. Zero suspense, rehashed herding technique and using a splash of blood on your face to confuse walkers is WAY OVER DONE. The only two characters that are worth watching at this point is Nick and Chris. Victor was awesome in the first season and OK in the first half of S2 but lately he's just been a shadow of his former awesomeness. Alicia is kinda getting better but she's still a whiny little brat. The only thing I fear in this show is the fear that this might be the last season of FTWD. The writers should just focus on Chris coming to terms that he was meant to live in the apocalypse and Nick using his drug skills to control the Oxycontin distribution. Put those two characters together and you got Negan; which would be bad a**!
