According to the BBC, the series isn't based on (or inspired by) the book The Coroner by M.R.Hall. Now that we've got that out of the way...I grew to like the Coroner as it progressed to series 2, and then the rug got pulled out by someone in TV authority so adios to series 3:( Not happy at all.
Oliver Gomm as Clint looks so much like David Spade's doppelganger big time. He doesn't get much screen time in this episode and maybe a spin-off can feature Clint.
Passions flare amidst a Latin American dance festival in Lighthaven, and tragedy with one of the feature dancers being a drug mule, dying when a condom full of heroine burst in her belly.
In this season 1 finale, Jane is attracted to Mel, and Egyptian doctor, and we are left guessing until the end whether they became the beast with two backs after a passionate dance together. It's one of those tropes where passionate dancing leads to passionate sex, e.g. Romancing the Stone and Basic Instinct. Here, much to Davey's relief, Jane and Mel did not do it.
