Warning: Spoilers
Episode opens with a burial at sea then it shifts to a surfer finding a body. Don't know who it is yet but I figure that shot of toes curled over one another will be a clue. But the area is having a problem with botched sea burials with bodies (of the deceased?) washing up ashore. Of course the local undertakers take a not us or our fault; besides changes might result in higher fees and less customers. Don't really see how less customers is possible.

Meantimes, Kevin Burton is reported missing by his girlfriend Dora Horton ten days now after taking his boat the Hispaniola out for a sail. Davy believes the body washed ashore is his missing body, but Jane believes its a bad burial. Davy should be able to make his case with DNA, but his suspect's DNA is missing. A trip to the local casino where Burton worked uncovers $75,000 is missing, and owner Harvey Campbell hadn't reported the alleged crime. So far no solid evidence as to the identity of the corpse. But Davy and Jane have a steak dinner running as a bet as to the identity.

Clint Holman is out investigating local undertakers as to their burials and while he isn't getting any information for Jane, he is racking up bribes as the undertakers are hoping Jane will call them when a body is in need from same. And Davy is having his own problems: Burton's DNA was deleted as were his dental records, why? One thing for sure, Dora knows something and is hiding something. And Nolan Prince, one of the undertakers, certainly knew Kevin Burton and is involved in a cover up but just what is being covered up. You shouldn't have any problems figuring out what went on but damn, those toes really weren't the clue I hoped for. But WATCH carefully.

Warning: Spoilers
According to the BBC, the series isn't based on (or inspired by) the book The Coroner by M.R.Hall. Now that we've got that out of the way...I grew to like the Coroner as it progressed to series 2, and then the rug got pulled out by someone in TV authority so adios to series 3:( Not happy at all.

Oliver Gomm as Clint looks so much like David Spade's doppelganger big time. He doesn't get much screen time in this episode and maybe a spin-off can feature Clint.

Here Jane investigates the identity of a corpse washed on shore at Lighthaven and she thinks it's a corpse from a sea burial, and Davey thinks otherwise. It's more than that, and the ending is a surprise.

Clint loves surfing and he takes every opportunity to catch a wave.

I really wish the BBC revived The Coroner for season 3. It's not too late!
