Andy gets his interview.
Sleepin_Dragon12 January 2023
Russell and Hugh return The Mayor's property, and ensure the team can Detect on his land. Andy has his interview.

This truly was so good, I think because the humour was so wonderfully down to Earth, and the characters are just so relatable, that scene for example where Andy had his interview, and a CV on a scrap of paper, that was just wonderful.

Favourite scene had to be those opening moments, where Lance and Andy are glumly sat watching the news, the article about the amateur who'd struck gold. The other belly laugh scene, where Becky is heard laughingly down the phone. Of course there's that touch or sadness, Lance sitting down, trying too hard with Kate.

I'd love to see more of Sheila, I think she's absolutely hilarious.

Peter continues to be a really interesting character, I am so keen to learn what he's up to, will his story hold up, or is he after something else, something buried?

This second series is really quite something.

8/10.

"A beard and B O does not an archaeologist make"

Warning: Spoilers
Andy has his very 1st ever job interview for the Botswana archeology dig, and he admits his fears to Becky. Becky puts a brave face on it for Andys sake, but must surely doubt his chances.

Andy has made an effort to look his best at the job interview, but rather stupidly looks at the other applicants and makes the mistake in believing that he doesn't look the part.

He is told the interviews are running late and, in the pretence of getting fresh air he nipped out to the gardens. Andy imagines he needs to get his hands dirty but discovered, bits of old clay pipe in the shrubbery. Unfortunately he is spied in the act, by a visitor just arrived at the Centre. When Andy gets his turn he is introduced to Dr Tendai, the actual Administer of the archeology excavation. Unfortunately for Andy he is also the self same bloke, who caught him rummaging around in the bushes.

Russell and Hugh return the Mayor's by now rather manky chain, and try to gain his permission to search on his land. He is having none of it, until they suggest Terry has mentioned it may make a good story locally. The Mayor gives his permission but rather insultingly, insinuates that Terry is "Bent". And insisted he knew what they were up to, and that "I have been warned".

Lance invited his daughter Kate back to his place for the first time, but tragically managed to totally blow it at the same time. Lance had been buying Kate presents for her birthday and Christmas, from the time he was first aware of her existence. Lance had also been setting aside money, for her "child maintenance" all those years. Lance made the cardinal error of laying this information on Kate on this first meeting, and the poor girl simply couldn't cope with it.
