During Monday’s episode of “The Voice,” Adam Levine paired up DeAndre Nico and Jake Wells in the latest knockout round of Season 15. DeAndre sang Hunter Hayes‘ “Wanted” in front of the four reality TV coaches while Jake blew the roof off of Coldplay‘s “Yellow.” After a short deliberation Adam decided to keep DeAndre, noting that “this dude came to win!” None of the other three coaches — Blake Shelton, Jennifer Hudson or Kelly Clarkson — opted to steal Jake for their teams, so he was sent home. Read the coaches’ comments below.

Before The Voice rang the final bell on its Season 15 Knockouts Monday, the sing-off’s coaches sent to the Top 24 an additional nine contestants, among them, one who’d always seemed destined to go the distance, one who I’d swear was drawing sartorial inspiration from Three’s Company’s Mrs. Roper, and one who will likely forever be known as much for her “stank face” as her vocals. But, did we at last see the end of Ben Affleck Lite, Steve Memmelo? Read on, and we’ll review not only his but all the performances.

Timur Bekmambetov's Profile, a thriller about a European journalist who goes undercover as a Jihadi bride for Isis, has won the Panorama Audience Award at the Berlin International Film Festival.
The drama is told entirely on the journalist's computer, using FaceTime, Skype, Facebook, video downloads and various web pages and social media platforms. Bekmambetov, whose Hollywood output has included Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Ben-Hur, has been a regular in Berlin. He previously screened his breakout Russian horror fantasy Night Watch and its sequel Day Watch at the festival.

The first in his inventive series, Unfriended, grossed more than $60m.
Timur Bekmambetov, whose Profile premiered in the Berlin Film Festival’s Panorama strand last week, is preparing a slate of new “Screen Life” movies.
The director-producer is plotting to release up to six over roughly the 12 months, including adaptations of Cyrano De Bergerac and Romeo And Juliet, and an online variation on a Hangover-style comedy.
The filmmaker behind such big budget affairs as Wanted and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and the recent remake of Ben-Hur now sees the computer as the new frontier for filmmaking.
“Obviously, we live on screens…the most important and dramatic events are happening on screen,” the Russian-Kazakh director told Screen.
“This ’Screen Life’ is not a genre. It is a language,” Bekmambetov continued. He is working with Cyprus-based financiers Dossor on the slate.

There's another new film this year telling a thrilling story told entirely through computer screens. This one is titled Profile, and it's directed by Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch, Wanted, Ben-Hur), who also produced the other computer screen film Search (which first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and I wrote a glowing review of here). Profile tells a completely different story than Search - it's about a journalist from London who tries to connect with an Isis recruiter online for a story about how Isis recruiters use the internet to lure women. Surprise, surprise, she ends up getting in way too deep and essentially falls for the same tricks and traps that the other women did. It's a captivating thriller about technology, for sure, but it's still a bit gimmicky and a bit manipulative, and not as good as it really could be. Bekmambetov's Profile is a very...

Timur Bekmambetov’s film about a journalist investigating women online being lured to Syria is silly but effective
Cinema is currently deciding how it meets the challenge of representing the way modern life and modern experience is increasingly happening online. The recent supernatural horror-thriller Unfriended had the ingenious idea of playing out its entire drama on one computer screen in real time, a kind of found-footage 2.0, switching between Facebook, Skype and instant messaging, the various prompts all bleeping and pinging away disturbingly as a sinister presence looms up. Russian director Timur Bekmambetov (who went to Hollywood in the last decade for brash and crass movies such as Wanted) has applied this approach to a thriller that asks the eternal question: what happens when cops or reporters with unsatisfactory home lives go undercover among people who actually treat them rather well?

Star Geraldine Hakewill on set.
In 2010, filmmaker Tony Prescott studied directing at Aftrs, where "the education was based on making a feature, but we made short films"..
"I don't think I'm very good at making short films", Prescott told If.
In 2011 he started developing an idea for a feature that he developed over five years - and forty drafts - with fellow Aftrs student James Raue (whose own first film, Psychoanalysis, is currently touring festivals).
The Pretend One is about a young woman (Wanted's Geraldine Hakewill) and her imaginary friend (Michael Whalley).
Their relationship becomes complicated when a suitor comes to town and Whalley's character becomes jealous.
Talking to people about the kind of Australian film he wanted to make, Prescott "struggled to find a reference".
"One of the closest I could think of was Paperback Romance. [Generally] We don't do magic and we don't do romance".
