It is actually made so that one understands where she was coming from. I really liked the scene where Clay brings Courtney to the cemetery and asks her about it. Her not wanting to come out as gay because she has two dads was a very great idea. That said why would he even have to admit she is lesbian, she could have said it was just for fun. And it isn't even supposed to be such a harmful rumor since that other girl who was suspected dealt with it very well.
I also liked the scene in the car with Alex speeding where we find out his father is a cop. I am pretty sure he did it to demonstrate it to Clay so that he knows to stay away. And I really really wonder what exactly happened. Who is lying and who isn't.
