One of the consequences of the BBC’s decision to start up their own streaming service (how dare they) is that a lot of their shows will soon be departing from their competitors.
Britbox, in partnership with ITV, launched in the UK last November, and now the content available elsewhere has started to catch up. Today we’re going to run through the wealth of titles that’ll exit Netflix UK at the end of March. There’s a lot to run down, too. And yes, this is redundant for American readers. You’re more than welcome to stay for tea, though (which is more than just a cultural stereotype).
First up – and probably of most interest – are the BBC comedies leaving on March 30th:
A Bit of Fry and Laurie (4 Seasons) Absolutely Fabulous (6 Seasons) Almost Royal (2 Seasons) Daniel Deronda (1 Season) Extras (2 Seasons) Fawlty Towers (2 Seasons) French and Saunders (6 Seasons...

Pack the freshest Marmalade sandwich you can find! Paddington bear is headed to television by way of StudioCanal and Nickelodeon. And best of all? Ben Whishaw is back in the voice booth.
Per Deadline, it’s understood this CG-animated series will follow the adventures of a younger Paddington bear in Peru – long before he was shipped off to the Big Smoke. Having been involved in StudioCanal’s feature films, Harry Potter producer David Heyman is also attached to the pre-schooler TV show, which is now beginning to make serious headway in production.
Adapted from Michael Bond’s Paddington Bear stories – ditto for those live-action movies – this animated series is in development from director Adam Shaw (Go Jetters), with Jon Foster and James Lamont on script duties.
Here’s a little taste of what’s to come:

Studiocanal is joining forces with Nickelodeon and award-winning producer David Heyman to create a CGI-animated series adapted from its “Paddington” franchise, with actor Ben Whishaw on board to reprise his role as the voice of the beloved bear.
The toon series will be based on Michael Bond’s Paddington Bear stories, as were the two feature films: “Paddington” (2014) and “Paddington 2” (2017) which were global box-office hits. The first “Paddington” movie took $268 million worldwide and gave Studiocanal its biggest theatrical gross ever. It also marked the highest-grossing non-u.S. family film ever. “Paddington 2,” released in December 2017, grossed more than $227.3 million worldwide.
The series will be aimed at pre-schoolers, and will air on Nickelodeon’s networks worldwide next year. Local broadcast partners will be brought on board in France, Canada, China and Japan.
