It Just Isn't Perfect
Hitchcoc20 March 2023
A female journalist who has been investing evil in the upper echelons of our government, is found murdered. It seems that she is a sort of latter day Edward Snowden. Because of the murder and its high profile, Booth is given the job of finding the killer. Of course, he drags in his hawkish prejudgment and calls her a traitor. He can't ever see past the end of his nose when it comes to our government, right or wrong. Let's ask Colin Powell what he thinks (yes, I know he's dead, but he got flimflammed in the Iraq invasion). Booth and his, you didn't serve so you have no right. It's great that a guy like him fought, but it was his choice, so quit the self righteousness. The conclusion to this one just doesn't wash very well. Contrived and antiseptic.

A bit rich comming from Booth
4nne2 November 2023
I dont know about liberal or conservative, or having an agenda for meatless Turkey.

I do know I found it really rich to have Booth given a speech about how bad it is to put other people in danger and have secrets. That he said it, is quite in character (yes, he is self-righteous), but is there no one to react something like 'Yeah, you would never do that..', because normal people aren't saintly enough to just take this from Booth after the things he did himself this (serie-wise) last year.

Apart from that and the last bit about the thumb drive I found it a pleasant episode. It shows how fragile the line between opening up for good reasons and taking it too far can be.

Just Another "Conservative" Episode
dabotz-drawings2 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
  • Massive, massive spoiler ahead indeed.

Leaving aside the "no-turkey" agenda that grated another reviewer, and the persistent fact that Hollywood seem to think that every circuit board is the same, this is just another of those episodes from this series that espouse a not-so-hidden conservative agenda.

The plot centers around the relationship between an investigative journalist and an "Edward Snowden"-like whistle-blower, that exposed a (another?) case of massive illegal surveillance of American citizen by the NSA.

The show tries not so subtly to portray the whistle-blower as a disloyal attention-grabber and, lo and behold, it turns out HE is the Killer, too! He killed the journalist when she didn't respond to his unrequited love.

He is arrested at the very end of the show, with even less empathy on the part of Booth than the usual, and care is taken not to show him at all.

No emotive scene with the guy confessing that, maybe, he killed her because she lead on him for a year and then discarded his sentiments once she had secured her scoop...

No, he is a scum-bag, a traitor to the country (and it's opaque mass control policies) and a killer.

OK, I got the message.

I won't watch this crap series any more - and I will put Jon Cowan on my very personal black list.

Disappointed
imofanopinion23 November 2015
Very disappointed that Emily Deschanel used this episode to push her agenda against turkey or any meats on Thanksgiving. I know it may seem trivial but I enjoy this show for entertainment, enjoyment and a time to just sit back and take time away from hectic days and stress. Most of what they promote is science versus everything else 😏 I know this is not about the episode itself and that this is just one fans personal reaction to the episode. I have vegetarians in my family yet they fully enjoy Thanksgivings with us and just eat what is on their diet. Each to their own as to private preferences but I found myself annoyed that one of my favorite shows suddenly is used in this way.

Wow ! There are reviewers who say Bones promotes conservative agenda. Talk about liberal bias.

Warning: Spoilers
Bones is a tsunami of liberal agenda yet there are those who say it is conservative.

Catholic church always under attack, much made of rural white criminals, global warming... None of those three pose any threat whatsoever but we are hamered with the agenda.

Maybe in 2021 the reviewer would change his mind as spying has gone to a whole new level under liberal administration.

The NSA has been completely out of control for many years and the thumb drive problaby has "dossiers" on politicians and bureaucrats from the president on down.

The drive would explain why so many things have gone so terribly wrong in the USA as politicians cower in fear of discovery.
