- The documentary is set in New Delhi India in the home of a newly married couple, Pankaj a filmmaker and his wife, Sunaina, a lawyer. The couple also have a 3rd person living with them, Cecilia, their live in housekeeper who becomes the main subject of the film. Cecilia's 2 daughters and husband have remained back in their village in Bengal while Cecilia has left for work. Cecilia receives an unexpected call one day and finds out her eldest daughter has been found dead in New Delhi. Cecilia soon comes to realize her daughter, unbeknownst to her, was trafficked to work as a housekeeper in New Delhi. Cecilia begins to pursue the case in court to bring justice against the family who had her daughter as a housekeeper. The family offers to pay off Cecilia if she doesn't pursue criminal charges and Cecilia's husband and village members urge her to not pursue the case in courts. The film goes on to follow Cecilia as she continues to dive deeper into the case and eventually returning to her village to move her daughter to a safe house. Cecilia soon comes to realize that pursuing the case in courts isn't a viable option and decides to drop the case and move back to her village despite the danger of her husband and fellow villagers who are upset at Cecilia's initial decision to contact the police. Cecilia received the monetary compensation and continued to live in her village until a year later when she died due to liver damaged caused by excessive drinking.—Roda
