Ships in the Night

It's the Thanksgiving episode and Penny and Leonard are hosting the dinner. Unfortunately, there is a trust issue at work. Sheldon asks Amy as a friend to go to the aquarium and have dinner on his passes. The rest go to a soup kitchen to volunteer. They get a job washing dishes instead of serving. Until the end, when Howard meets a special person. The final scene, however, is provocative.

One of the better episodes of BBT

As much as the episode was very average when it came to the comedy, the storytelling was quite good. It was a little bit upsetting to see Amy in the car journey home.

So many laughs packed into one episode. The series just keeps getting better and better!!!

Mrs. Shullivan and I are hoping that the producers will come to their senses and give their audience what they really want, which are extended season episodes periodically such as at Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and maybe New Years Eve? This particular episode is one of those examples where a 60 minute episode was warranted. So much comedy is packed into the scheduled 30 minute episode that it seems to be over just when the audience is waiting to see what will happen next to this zany but oh so lovable cast of eccentric characters.

In this episode Penny and Leonard are staying home to prepare their first Thanksgiving dinner as a married couple which leaves the rest of the cast required to find something else to do, and somewhere else to go. Sheldon has two tickets to the Aquarium's Thanksgiving buffet but no one wants to go with him so Sheldon offers the two tickets to his ex-girlfriend Amy. Amy suggests that Sheldon go with her with the caveat that they just go as friends and so Sheldon does take her literally which is somewhat ironic and heartbreaking for Amy.

As for Raj, Howard, Bernadette and Emily they were attempting to provide community service by helping serve Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless (Howard chooses this plan with his friends begrudgingly over going to the Aquarium with Sheldon) but initially they get rebuffed as the shelter has enough help but then they get asked to help wash dishes. Again all Howard can do is whine about how he is wasting his time washing dishes until a special guest appears out of nowhere and Howard then declares he must be blessed. It is just an hilarious short-lived half hour of great comedy and it left Mrs. Shullivan and I wanting much more of the same.

So I will suggest that the producers consider creating a few special one hour or ninety minute episodes as the writing and acting compliment each other so well that the audience just laps it up...just like Thanksgiving dinner. Mmmmmmm.....maybe a full length feature film is overdue?

I give this episode another perfect 10 out of 10.

Pretty darn good episode so far
barbablanca-2224928 November 2015
I know that people criticize BBT because it drifted away from comedy and became more dramatic which sorta sucks. Before, they were all nerdy and awkward but now they are bit more confident and it became less funny. But this episode was really good and I really enjoyed it. The best part was obviously Leonard's dressing up for Penny and his actions, that was hilarious. But also I actually got to see and realize how Amy and Sheldon's relationship is/was. Maybe it was different before, but in this episode I was actually able to feel how they are made for each other and how Amy was feeling towards Sheldon which was quite nice. So, it was pretty good episode so far and I'm hoping that it would get better.

Comedy my a**!

Warning: Spoilers
This was a pretty damn terrible episode. There was a time when even a comparatively bad episode of this show might still be the best thing on in that time-slot. But now, with an episode like this, there are infomercials I'd rather have watched. Once again, we dip into the mire of relationship drama and once again it's not remotely funny or even entertaining as a drama. The whole soup kitchen bit was absolutely pitiful. The writers are loosing there mind and I'm afraid a lot of fans to if the keep this up. It's a bad thing if there is only one funny scene (Leonard dancing) in the entire episode! This is not a drama people, so don't turn it into one. I have no idea were this is heading, but it's time to wake up and smell the Comedy.
