secret of the secret

Agree -- one of the best ever, nail-biting suspense, makes you want to take a break and go play with the cat.

But there is a trick to this.

When you build an episode that simultaneously threatens the lives of ALL the characters you have grown to care about, the suspense only works if deep down you believe the writers are just crazy enough to take a regular on the series to make a point.

As I was biting my nails I asked myself if the writers are that crazy.

Answer -- yes they are.

Maybe not as crazy as the writers on Banshee (still the nuttiest and riskiest bunch in the biz, I think) but they are

Props to them

one of the best episodes that I have seen . the buildup and the overall contain just awesome and the acting!! of Amir Arison (agent Mojitabai) was just mind-blowing! there was not a sec that dose not galvanizes you. Just 42 min of pure excellence! with all the character included and collection of all the aspect of the story-line was awesome. it is a complete roller-coaster ride with emotions and every intervals. you and expect or i should say interpret and is gonna happen next. overall an excellent writing which was sold by the characters perfectly. it also left enough curiosity for the next episode and did not kill it. waiting for the next episode with great excitement. It can be said that this episode was the best episode of "the blacklist" so far

Masterful Suspense/Hanging Over The Cliff by the Fingertips
Hitchcoc15 November 2022
Lis has confronted all sorts of enemies. From the time she shot the Attorney General (a really bad guy), there seems to be no reclamation for her. But Red knows better, and several in the organization do. Her biggest adversary is her former partner, who has this Javert thing going with doing what is right (by the law) and ignoring his gut and ignoring the integrity of his people. The CIA people have decided that instead of Liz standing trial and spilling many gigantic beans, they will take her away and she will be killed "trying to escape." This is a seminal episode because it puts everyone in play as Red decides enough is enough. Don't miss this episode.

Loved this episode

Warning: Spoilers
The whole plot to abduct the Director was fantastic. Aram's accruing it amazing too. Am the characters have such depth, obviously epitomised by Reddington. The acting and tension around Lizzy's capture and her placing in the Box in the Postroom, where the Director almost killed her through nitrogen poisoning, with Aram balling his eyes out. Was fantastic.

The Tarantino-esq ending, with the Director being chucked out of a plane, falling through the roof of a family who couldn't get their kids off their smartphones, only to see that the forlorn figure of that evil man on the very screen they were being enjoined to watch, was brilliant.

Can't wait to see where this continues to go. After all the build-up of tension over the past season's episodes, with the Cabal's resources and reach seemingly extending to every corner, Reddington wins this episode and restores some hope to the "bad" good guys over the "good" bad guys.

Ooof Terrible

Warning: Spoilers
Despite being so highly rated I was surprised this episode was such a letdown. Everything was so silly and anticlimactic. Just very low quality writing.

Nothing much actually happens except they cut the air off to Liz and Ressler and Tom have to fight off 30 guys inside a cabin. The air thing was maybe the sillier of the two, their base is filled with FBI agents and personnel, but when they mess with the air supply they can't send techs or more SWAT guys to check into it? And I mean, the CIA shows up, it's not a CIA installation, why not just claim you're hazy on the law and you'll have to wait until a court resolves the situation and then have the dozen guys with machine guns show them out? It all feels so silly and small, they only have enough set for Aram to stand in front of the cage and yell at Liz to keep breathing. Such a sad disappointment.

Then there was the cabin fight. They could have just thrown hand grenades in there and blown them all up and be done. But instead they ran in one by one, ninja style, and they got shot. Or something. And then they didn't kill Solomon, because Tom and Cooper were like clutching their pearls over it. The least sensical thing in an nonsensical episode. Literally, if your life depended on it, you could not explain what happened in that scene where Ressler doesn't kill Solomon. You'd die. It's literally impossible.

And then the episode ends, that's all that happens.
