Don't touch me!

Warning: Spoilers
How do these keep getting more disturbing? 'Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 4 (2015)' is where the series starts to get a bit meta, as it starts to become clear that Yellow Guy, Red Guy and Duck aren't here by choice. It's also where the overarching lore starts to become more apparent; these shorts don't exist in isolation from one another. The picture's ending, in particular, is incredibly shocking and has genuine ramifications for the remainder of the series. The song is enjoyable, the aesthetic compelling and the pacing pretty much perfect. The horror is once again more cerebral than gruesome, but it works well for what the piece is trying to achieve. This one is ostensibly about computers and their ability to provide knowledge, but (beware mild spoilers for theming) it soon becomes a critique of the inherent artifice of the online world and the way in which people can become lost in their online personas. There's more information than ever before, but most of it is valueless. This is a solid entry in the series. As I mentioned, it ends with a real bang. 8/10.

Amazing!

I love this, it is my favorite episode! I feel it is highly under-rated. Colin is my favorite teacher of all of them! The end was certainly very shocking! I liked the digital dancing. I wish this series had more episodes! This is one of my favorite videos on the Internet of all time! I'm very glad it exists!

4: An underrated episode

Warning: Spoilers
Most people would disagree, but I thought that this one was really good. This episode might be a little weird, but that says nothing about a series that uses weirdness to its advantage.

I have this darn song in my head, the computer puppet concept is cool, and the section near the middle where there is a bunch of glitching is just really cool.

I think that this episode gives a perfect dose of insanity, while keeping really cool and fun to watch.

So much fun, and so dark.

This is a masterclass in generating suspense. The contemporary edge thats needed never simmers down, and populates a Symphony of terror. I was "Wowed" by the end.

Awesome music. An outlier for sure!
mangoslyf4 June 2022
This episode has been my favorite along side two for a very long time. I can hardly imagine it's 7-8 years old now. The music is fantastic. The upbeat bouncy theme is stimulating for me and I enjoy it. The voice acting, like all the other episodes, is high quality and admirable. The concept of a computer teaching ideas that most of us already understand, and considering the mention of a laptop already existing in the setting, our characters understand, is pretty fitting.

But this episode stands out from the rest because of what it is. Especially beside the later episodes. The "bad turn" is essentially the visuals and auditory elements becoming overwhelming. Nothing like the other episodes which take an extremely dark and violent turn. This one is more subtle, and our teacher here, I guess his name is Colin, isn't aggressive or trying to prove a point (part of why I adore him as a character, despite how he has no personality besides annoying). This definitely stands out beside episodes 2, 3, and 5. (1 not so much, and 6 didn't have much to it). The only aggressive he portrays is passive. Singling put a single character by continually ignoring them and interrupting them. His actions are manipulative. The dark turn still works, however. It's more like a world unraveling slowly than it is a violent scene. It takes a different track, and after this, 5 is straight up aggressive from the start.

And this is visually stunning as well. The animation is supposed to be bad, and it works. The den type room at the start is super aesthetically pleasing, and the computer world is exactly what I'd expect. Each of these episodes has so much effort put into it, and it starts with the props. Every little detail in the physical world here is stunning. I always have and I always will love this episode. 100% recommended.

One of the weaker entries again
Horst_In_Translation28 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
"Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 4" is as the title already says the 4th installment of the DHMIS series and at 5 minutes it is longer than the first and second entry, but one minute shorter than the third. However, it is also at least worse than 1 and 3 as having seen 4 DHMIS entries to the series before this one, I must say that it is among the weakest for sure. This trip into the animated world of illustrating computers and technical progress is once again a spoof of regular television programs, but it not working in terms of comedy at all. It is only working from the weirdness perspective and if that's their goal, then they succeeded. in terms of creativity or quality filmmaking, they really came short and to me this is evidence that the series should have ended a while ago instead still having new episodes come out these days. Pelling and Sloan are the ones who made it just like with all the others. I personally give it a major thumbs-down and suggest you stay away if you aren't among the millions of people who have already seen it. Highly overrated here on IMDb.

Warning: Spoilers
The episode appears as one of the most frightening and at times distressing, and this is precisely the problem; this episode shows scary things like glitches and a digital world that ends up going crazy, turning into great chaos, things seen and reviewed in the scary context of youtube, which is followed by much of the DHMIS fandom. In any case it always remains an episode of DHMIS as well graphically produced as the others, but for me it's the worst.
