The Boldest Episode Since 102

Warning: Spoilers
"Holy hell," I thought when I realized exactly where this episode was going, "they're doing this." Don't be fooled by the childish title, this is an incredibly mature episode. It's actually the second most mature episode of comedy. Only Ep#102 of the same show can beat it. That is, of course, "Bojack Hates the Troops." Now that is daring. But so was this, and it came awfully close. Maybe that's what the show does best; pushing boundaries. Like "Family Guy," only it's decent television.

It's interesting how the episode about an abortion isn't about Diane getting or not getting an abortion. It's about a celebrity getting or not getting one and how the media handles things like that. In fact, I love that. No one gives Diane any (IMDb is not okay with this word) about getting an abortion, and it's incredibly interesting and, I think, a good decision by the writers. That being said, they handled a sensitive topic with just enough ridiculousness to make it funny.

Also, on the Bojack side of things, it's a little less intelligent, but still not bad and very entertaining.

Third in Season Three's streak of 8-star episodes.

Solid media satire

Diane and Mr Peanutbutter want an abortion.

The abortion plot sets up various characters to lampoon the media reaction to a controversial and emotive subject. This aspect of the writing is very good and I think some of the silly moments (like Eddie Redmayne) are for me the most enjoyable. I think certain bits of dialogue are written for shock value, and whilst amusing I do not think they are hilariously funny. Diane and Sextina are used well by the writers.

Bojack's subplot is reasonably good, making me want to find out where the writers go with the Oscars and his relationship with Ana.

For me it's a 7.5/10 but I round upwards.

A Controversial Topic Tackled by Bojack Horseman

While not one of the greatest episodes, it is still an entertaining episode that shows how the media covers abortion, especially for famous people, and how awful they treat it. It definitely takes a pro-choice stance but I didn't think it criticizes the other side harshly as it's more critical towards the media. The person who wrote the 1/10 review sounded like they didn't give the episode a chance or get the point. They claim that the episode says that white men are incapable of making moral decisions, which is stupid to think because the episode is obviously trying to say that the media doesn't get the viewpoints from other people, nor does the episode say that women are always right like the 5/10 review does. It does a good job tackling its subject matter and although it isn't one of the show's best and it likely won't change anyone's opinions, I think it is a good episode and people on both sides should watch it with an open mind.
