A question about Alicia & Eli

Warning: Spoilers
Good twisting episode as ever.

I do have one question. How was Alicia telling Eli that the case was a sting on the judge not breaking attorney- client privilege? She didn't share her discussions with Howard not 10 seconds later, telling Diane, "It's privileged," so how was this different? Not sure where this Eli plot line is going. He can't really want to hurt Peter. I guess that's the point.

I feel like Carey is underused. He barely has a few lines an episode now that his jailing plot line is done and with Kalinda gone. More Carey, please! And where did Robyn go? Is she off the show? That would be a huge loss, I always liked her.

What's with Howard Lyman? All of a sudden he has come out of his dotage and is now romancing Alicia's mother-in-law, who it appeared from previous episodes was when on her way to senility as well.

The alleged attempt for ensnaring the judge was excellent. The supposed drug maker really appeared to turn the tables on Alicia. Never underestimate the FBI, but even they may be thwarted in their attempts.

Margo Martindale is beginning to wear thin here. She can become quite annoying, whining and doesn't take on the persona of a political operative at all.

Diane appearing at Alicia's door reminded me of a hurt, angry child doing the same when she feels that a friend has betrayed her.

Meh.

This could be because I'm binging the series many years after its initial release, and watching one or two episodes a night, but the whole "a misunderstanding, David Lee screams, Diane Lockhart looks pouty and gives Alicia a verbal lashing after playing nice" is really starting to wear thin here. I can't help but think there's better things for Christine Baranski to do in lieu of grabbing her pearls every other episode. This too often repeated shtick is starting to wear thin.

Also, what happened to Robin? She was briefly mentioned in the last season when Kalinda needed to do something else for Diane, but Robin is just gone and forgotten. Weird.

Overall I'm liking the new dynamics of the characters this season but Margo Martindale feels like a big lump on the flow of the show, maybe she's just written that way, and of course the aforementioned Diane is grabbing her pearls again and David is yelling thing is a bit much.

Thank god for Cary.
