Time Travel is funny...sort of.

The 2014 film "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" is without a doubt, one of the best DreamWorks films of all time along with Captain Underpants, Trolls, and the How To Train Your Dragon franchise. Not only that, but also one of my favorite animated movies of all time. The Netflix series, "The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show" is...let me cut to the chase real quick. The style of this show is so freaking great to look at, it really reminds me of the similar art style of classic Cartoon Network shows like Samurai Jack. The humor is beyond wacky and fun and the animation is really good, yet some of the humor and writting is a bit too much and a bit obnoxious. Some of the writing of the show is also unique and the characters like Mr. Peabody and Sherman are really good, sometimes they act sort of unusual. It's a shame that Penny Peterson (from the movie) didn't make an appearance in the show, but I digress. (Seriously, Penny Peterson is obviously one of my favorite characters. She's cute, she's voiced by Ariel Winter who played Alex Dunphy from Modern Family and she reminds me of Cindy Vortex from Jimmy Neutron.) This Netflix cartoon sort of work for, thought the some of the jokes felt a bit dull and the way the characters act sometimes. It's not my favorite but I'm giving this a 6.5/10

Animation
deeznutz-098392 July 2020
Are kids and adult shows trying to make the animation as hideous and atrocious as they possibly can on purpose?? Cause I've noticed the animation in both adult and kids shows are absolutely hideous

1-Star Rating on Netflix, Studio is inflating the IMDb rating

I used to watch Mr Peabody and Sherman on the old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon on some VHS tapes. This show is a mockery and doesn't reflect anything other than a group of "artists" pushing out sub-par quality cartoons to meet their deadline.

They have characters singing out of context, bounce back and forth between topics and the show is rather difficult to follow.

Another problem in comparison to keeping an education cartoon are the side show characters who have nothing more to contribute than ridiculous skit.

They switch between singing, conversation, side shows and have no continuity, consider this show a bust!

They should pull the show, they've just ruined P&S for a whole new generation.

A Little Quirky But Still Fun
jimmydragtron21 April 2018
A few years earlier, the film Mr. Peabody and Sherman was released in theaters. Like all films based on segments of the 1960s Rocky and Bullwinkle show, the film flopped at the box office, even though its revenue was greater than its budget. Nevertheless, the film's positive reception was enough to inspire the creation of this TV show.

Unlike the film which uses 3D cgi, the TV show uses 2G cgi. But that's okay. Sherman here sounds younger than his 1960s counterpart but it still fits the character. There's also a bit of quirkiness on how some of the characters act but that's common to animated shows with classic cartoonish nature. When animated cartoons first hit the screen decades ago, they were originally adaptations of comic characters.

Too much stuff going on.

This show is bad in my opinion because it does not stay focused on what's going on, it goes back to the show, then it goes back to the main story of the episode. This is a terrible show for me.

Solid show

I watch this show constantly because of my daughter. While I agree with one of the negative reviews about the first episode being a bit boring, the show gets much better as it goes along. I think the point of the show is that its supposed to be a variety show and therefore, all over the place. I find it fine to follow. So does my daughter. And any humor that appeals to adults will fly over a kid's head.

Wtf is this?

What is this show trying to be? I can't remember the last time Mr Peabody and Sherman were ever remembered, most people remember them by a skit in Family Guy. Anyways the show is incredibly bad from the animation, the Writing, the immature toilet humor, the jokes and the voices are really annoying. Penny from the movie is completely forgotten so I'm guessing the movie and the original show aren't Cannon. I can't even tell what the plot of any of the episodes are, the music is completely terrible they added new ugly main characters as Sherman's friends. You shouldn't watch this show, it should stay and burn in the pile of forgotten cartoons and shows.

Beware of dog! Pun intended

Though I'd never watched the original series, I enjoyed the movie that came out last year enough to want to check out the new Netflix original series. Unfortunately, this was one of the most boring half hour shows I've watched in a long time. It's a never a good sign when you start looking at your watch only ten minutes in. The only positive thing I can say about it is the animation has a cute, old school charm that recalls the nostalgic spirit of the cartoons I grew up with, but nothing else works. The jokes are flat and unfunny. The characters are totally forgettable. In the pilot episode, Mr. Peabody and Sherman are trying to put on their first show but keep getting distracted by nosy, annoying neighbors, all while traveling through time in the WEYBAC to meet historical figures like Napoleon Bonaparte. If any of this was funny, it wouldn't matter that the story line is over the place. I've only watched the first of thirteen episodes but will not be watching the rest and have removed the series from my Netflix watch list.

From an iCON to a barely decent movie to THESE!!

This show should not have been made.

What can be learned? Don't reinvent the wheel

Verdict: Pea brain show.

Gets better second time around
dklecan16 December 2018
Streamed a second time while recovering from surgery and enjoyed it quite a bit more than first viewing. Other reviewers disliked the "variety" show theme, but once you understand the concept it is not hard to follow. The side characters: Christine, the neigbors, the pet mammoth all become more charming...and Mr. Peabody's parents are hilarious!!! The animation is crazy good and the color pallettes are to die for. Love how all the strokes are not black, but a deep navy-purple which really helps the colors pop. Would love to take a color theory class from the artists. In the meantime, I've screen-grabbed many of my favorite color combinations. Give the show a second chance....I think you will give it a higher rating.

ADHD Alert!
mushu-4317521 October 2016
I'll never have my niece watch it again! This show is crazy. Bad crazy. It gives me anxiety, I almost felt I was having an epileptic seizure watching it. Writers must be ADHD teenagers under LSD. Plot doesn't stay focused on the same subject for more than 10 seconds. Seriously, you don't know what the hell is going on. It's like a bad trip. On top of that, some scenes are really disgusting and not suitable for kids. What were they thinking? Who agreed to greenlight this? The movie was cute! Don't even get me started on "History". This show is all but educational. A warning to parents: watch a couple of episodes (if you dare) before showing your kids.

This show is the worst
dspjykm25 October 2021
I have severe ADHD. I love kids shows, cartoons, even things sprinkled with adult jokes. This is just overall bad. It's so hard to follow. It's not funny. The animation is OK in that it's nostalgic. The "skits" are the best part I guess? And they're incredibly annoying. The history we're supposed to be learning is..well..riddled with heavy stereotypes. I shouldn't feel this uncomfortable with a childrens cartoon's stereotypes of other cultures but WOW. My kid hates this show. It comes on tv at night and once she realizes it's on she refuses to watch it. If I notice it playing I attempt to watch but it's seriously one of the worst. Up there with uncle grandpa I think.
