Being an actor might sound like a dream job to many but let us tell you that it is no easy feat. You have to shoot in extreme temperatures, work long hours, endure injuries, and much more. Some actors have even permanently damaged their bodies on set, including Jackie Chan, George Clooney, and Jason Momoa, our favorite half-Atlantean.
Jason Momoa in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2022) | Warner Bros. Pictures
While filming the sequel to Aquaman (2018), Jason Momoa ended up hurting his eye which caused permanent damage to his eyes. Since the injury happened on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the actor could have easily sued the production company and Warner Bros. to end up with a hefty settlement price. However, Jason Momoa chalked the injury up to his old age and called it a day.

The series follows the story of the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view. Apple has given the show an eight-episode order.
Momoa will write alongside Thomas Pa’a Sibbett. Both also serve as executive producers, as will Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Erik Holmberg, and Doug Jung. Based on his rugged good looks and the sheer size of the man, you’d imagine the whole action hero thing would come pretty easily to Jason Momoa, but the actor has a wildly inconsistent track record in the genre.
He may have headlined the highest-grossing DC Comics adaptation ever made thanks to his starring role in Aquaman, but he also took top billing in the dire Conan the Barbarian remake, which was savaged by critics and tanked at the box office. However, embracing the spirit of the 1980s in B-level actioner Braven worked a treat, and the movie has proven hugely popular on Netflix since it was added to the library a couple of weeks ago.

When it comes to Netflix’s Top 10 most-watched list, there are a few things that you can usually find there no matter when you take a look at the chart. The first is obviously anything involving Adam Sandler in any capacity, the second is whatever high-profile original project has been recently released by the streamer, and for some reason, the third is wholly mediocre B-tier action movies.
For instance, Bruce Willis’ recent output has brought us one stinker after another, but his films typically perform well on the streaming service when they arrive. Marauders was in the Top 10 for a while, and although viewers probably instantly regretted their decision to check out Hard Kill, it still managed to attract a lot of eyeballs on Netflix. Unsurprisingly, with just five days to go until Christmas, the focus for a lot of people has shifted solely towards festive fare, even if the ongoing effects of the Coronavirus pandemic promise a holiday season unlike any other in living memory, with restrictions being tightened around the world as the recent surge in infections shows no signs of slowing down.
Luckily, there are more than enough streaming services available to provide plenty of content to keep everyone occupied, and while Christmas movies have been dominating the Netflix Top 10 most-watched list all week, heartwarming tales of family and friendship aren’t the only titles being added to the library these days.
This week brought almost 30 new additions covering a wide variety of genres, with the biggest of the bunch being Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which sees the late Chadwick Boseman deliver a career-best performance opposite an equally fantastic Viola Davis...

Netflix users are lapping up a surprising movie today, as a forgotten action flick starring Jason Momoa is dominating on the platform. Yes, 2018’s Braven is sitting as the second most popular film on the streaming giant with subscribers in the United States, according to FlixPatrol. Despite coming out the same year as his smash hit blockbuster Aquaman, Braven slipped under the radar at the time but now fans of the Arthur Curry actor are giving it a go on the streamer and they seem to be digging it.
If you haven’t seen it, the pic sees Momoa play logger Joe Braven, who has to protect his wife and daughter from a group of dangerous drug runners when they attack his hunting cabin. Stephen Lang co-stars as Braven’s father with Garret Dillahunt and Zahn McClarnon as the main villains. Momoa also produced the movie through his Pride of Gypsies production label.

It’s easy to be appreciative of everything Netflix has added so far this month considering just how much entertainment value has been included. December’s brought such huge titles as the star-filled action thriller Triple 9, classic Adam Sandler comedies 50 First Dates and Little Nicky, underrated Jason Momoa movie Braven and a host of Christmas-related content sure to put you in the holiday spirit, among many other things.
The best part of it all is that there’s still more to come and today marks a very special yet somber drop. Indeed, many of the selections bring with them equal parts happiness and sadness, as they feature beloved celebrities that we’ve had to say goodbye to in the horrible year that’s been 2020. In a month that’s been filled to the brim with fantastic new additions, it’s always icing on the cake when Netflix drops even more solid films into the service’s expansive library. So, in the event that you’ve already watched through recent arrivals like sci-fi classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and the star-studded thriller Triple 9, you’re definitely going to want to go check out today’s only new release.
Jason Momoa‘s underrated and often forgotten 2018 thriller Braven is now available to stream on Netflix and sees the actor play Joe Braven, a logging company owner who takes a trip with his father (Stephen Lang) to their hunting cabin for a bit of bonding. When they run into a gang of drug traffickers, however, they soon find themselves in an unexpected fight for their lives. Garret Dillahunt and Zahn McClarnon also feature as the film’s antagonists.

The year is almost over. The Hargreeves kids have saved the world and Beth Harmon has checkmated her last opponent. But in its new releases for December 2020, Netflix still has some tricks up its sleeve.
For starters, Netflix is ending this most curious year with some promising original films. David Fincher’s long-awaited Mank arrives on Dec. 4 to fill us in on the story of Citizen Kane‘s screenwriter. Then on Dec. 11, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and James Corden do their best musical impression with The Prom. Chadwick Boseman’s final film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom debuts on Dec. 18. Then George Clooney rounds out the month with The Midnight Sky on Dec. 23.
But of course, it’s in the original series realm where Netflix does most of its work. The biggest one comes at month’s end this December. The final season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina premieres on New Year’s Eve.

Based entirely on his chiseled good looks and the sheer size of the man, Jason Momoa seemed to be primed for action movie stardom from the second he first burst onto the scene fifteen or so years ago, but the actor has chosen to take a different path. Obviously, he plays a superhero and headlined the highest-grossing DC Comics adaptation ever made, but the 41 year-old’s forays into straightforward action territory have been few and far between.
A lot of that might have been to do with the fact that his first major starring role in a movie was in 2011’s Conan the Barbarian reboot, which bombed at the box office. He followed that up with a villainous turn in Sylvester Stallone vehicle Bullet in the Head, which also tanked. Since then, he’s largely shied away from the standard running and gunning on the big screen outside of his Dceu adventures.

Jason Momoa returns to screens for small scale action thriller Braven (2018), an exciting throwback to the glory days of 1980’s action cinema. It has taken quite a while for Braven to reach screens, with it beginning principal photography back at the tail end of 2015. Since then Momoa starred as Aquaman in one of the most talked about blockbusters of the year, Justice League (2017).With Justice League, the part of Aquaman was altered from his comic book counterpart to better suit the persona of Momoa, going on to become one of the more enjoyable aspects of the films. Similarly his role in Braven is tailor made for Momoa, although the part of Joe Braven is more realistic and relatable than Aquaman, with Momoa taking...

Manly men Jason Momoa and Stephen Lang find themselves dealing with drug dealers on snowmobiles in Braven, a film with a clunky title and a whole lot of charm. The Braven trailer is filled with the type of glorious action-movie cheese that used to be prominent in the 1980s and 1990s, and I mean that in the best possible […]

"They pushed him to the edge." Saban Films has launched the first official, international trailer for an action thriller film titled Braven, which we haven't heard much about before now but it looks badass. Starring Jason Momoa as a humble lumberback working on the Us/Canada border, he must fight back to save and protect his family when "elite" drug runners run into some problems with a shipment of heroin. The full cast includes Garrett Dillahunt, Stephen Lang, Jill Wagner, Brendan Fletcher, Sala Baker, and Zahn McClarnon. This looks like another one of these unassuming-man-is-really-a-badass films, but something about Momoa taking on this group of drug goons seems especially awesome to me. It's worth a quick look. Here's the first official trailer for Lin Oeding's Braven, direct from YouTube (via Tmb): When Joe Braven (Jason Momoa), a humble logger residing along the U.S./Canada border is confronted...

Jason Momoa is set to make his big debut as Aquaman in Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” next year, but before we see the actor as the DC Comics superhero fans can see him as a ruthless thug in “Sugar Mountain.”
The thriller centers around two brothers, deep in debt with Momoa, who fake a disappearance in the wilderness so they’ll have a great survival story to sell. Their hoax quickly turns sour when their plan puts their lives at risk.
The film is directed by Richard Gray and also stars Drew Roy, Haley Webb, Shane Coffey, and Cary Elwes as the local sheriff who begins to suspect fowl play.

Since those cameras began rolling earlier in the year, Zack Snyder and his assembly of DC superheroes have wowed fans with a string of truly memorable Justice League set photos – from the more recent pic of Ben Affleck suited and booted in the tactical Batsuit to the King of the Seven himself, Jason Momoa, jamming on a guitar.
That all comes to an end today, however, now that Snyder has officially called a wrap on principal photography in London – but not before Momoa can squeeze in one final snap ahead of the inevitable wrap party.
Momoa, who will be preparing for The Bad Batch and Lin Oeding’s TV drama Braven before circling back to the role of Arthur Curry, is yet to really strike a chord with the DC faithful; to date, the former Game of Thrones star has only held a throwaway role in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
