Superb start to the new series.

Nikki's findings on a previous case are called into question, she'd recently judged the death of a Priest's mother as suicide, but a new involving a DJ's death cause her to question her judgement. Nikki bumps into old friend Scott King, but is he a good guy or not. Nikki's old lecturer Professor Roach has been in Nikki's flat, a bitter woman who blames Nikki for ending her career.

After all of the festive TV and some of the great shows we've had recently I feared the year would begin with a lull, not so, if this episode of Silent Witness is anything to go by then we are in for a treat with the rest of the series. What an utterly amazing start to the series, Silent Witness seems to be getting better and better year on year.

A great Nikki story, I always enjoy when she's the focal point of the story, she's a great actress and did a wonderful array of scared faces, brilliantly acted in this episode. Georgia Clen was brilliant as Professor Roach, as was Dan Fredenburgh. I hope for more from the wonderful Geraldine Somerville in Part 2, who's been surprisingly anonymous so far.

It's no wonder it performed so well in terms of viewing figures, one of the best single episodes of Silent Witness I have ever seen.

This was fantastic, great story, lots of tension, and creepy ending. 9/10

Engaging but Clumsiness a Bit Much

Nikki is the focus of this one. We start out with a man, an apparent suicide, who, upon further investigation, is found to have been murdered. It turn out that a woman, a cancer patient, was done in the same way, and it was attributed to suicide. An old friend, a man with seemingly romantic intentions, shows up, lying to Nikki. She also has had someone who has been coming into her house. The episode ends with a visit to a college professor that Nikki embarrassed and drove from her profession with a verbal attack on her credibility. Nikki gets herself way too involved once again.
