The main plot here felt very similar to one that 'Everybody Loves Raymond' did previously (ironic seeing as this episodes director is Lew Schneider who wrote on that show), and the one involving Adam giving up his toys felt very similar to one we have seen at least twice before since 'The Goldbergs' began.
I enjoyed this episode, I enjoy them all, but I have seen nothing in S3 thus far to convince me that this show hasn't run its course.
