Avoid this stinker
ant36au12 December 2018
I've watched probably a thousand movies in this genre in my lifetime, some awesome, some good, some bad and some real stinkers,Lurking Woods is the definition of stinker, everything about it stinks, script, cinematography, directing and the OMG this is so bad acting,in fact,I've seen dried up porn stars act better than this lot.One reviewer tells you not to believe the low rating,I,m guessing they havn't seen many movies in this category otherwise they would know that this movie is rating much, much higher on IMDB than it deserves.I'm just embarrassed to call myself an Aussie when rubbish like this is put out there for all to see.

Mercifully on 73 minutes

So standard plot of young people on vacation in a cabin in the wilderness. Add a psycho-slahser and viola! Movie! Acting is generally poor, and if there are moments of adequate acting, it is quickly followed by awkward pauses while someone searches for a line. Random motivations, stupid plot points, and standard filming. Don't believe higher ratings.

Stilted

Warning: Spoilers
LURKING WOODS is yet another in an endless gamut of indie horror flicks set and shot in the woods. That this one is Australian is the only distinction. It's a usual slasher film in which a bunch of friends head into the wilderness, only to find themselves stalked by a garden variety Michael Myers wannabe with almost zero screen presence. For most of the time this is made up of stilted conversations between wooden actors standing around aimlessly, begging to be directed.

Gosh this was dumb

I'm spilling the beans on this one

Ignoring the bad acting, this movie was a waste of 74 minutes. The entire premise was because the most unattractive one was jealous that the girl he liked liked other guys, and the guys didn't treat him like one of the boys because he was nerdy and a loser? Then the second most unattractive one also joined in cuz he felt neglected? Is this middle school? Who are these cry babies?

And because it was a short film, ideas introduced had no time to develop, like the guy who just got out of jail, or the creepy caretakers. Utilizing a suspense aspect of "maybe they might be the killer(s)" would've made this much better. But instead they were throw away characters that added nothing to the story.

At least in the end, the tough girl, who wasn't tough when it really counted, found out the truth. What a waste of everyone's time.

Its a good a plot everyone is doing reunion.

Horror never goes out of fashion. Trends may shift, box-office prospects may vary, and crazes may come and go, but there's always a market for films designed to scare the bejeezus out of people. That said, the genre has had its artistic low and high periods—and right now right now, we're living through the latter, a quiet horror renaissance

Its a good a plot everyone is doing reunion. i think something wrong with font and other things.

Slasher without a cause

Amateurish in it's script, acting, and sound design. The story is stale, even with some attempts at a twist or two. Australia produces some quite good cinema, but this is not one of them. Hokey, slow, dull.

Great Australian slasher-thriller horror film
oneinamil-133-9848282 October 2018
Great suspense, thriller, slasher, Australian horror film. I'm a sucker for cabin in the woods slasher films. This one doesn't disappoint. Friends get together at a rented cabin and a masked killer starts his killing spree. The actors did a great job and a nice twist at the end. One of the better movies on Amazon Prime.

Ignore the low rating
vegicat23 October 2018
This is actually a really good movie. Yes, it's a typical "bunch of college kids go in the woods for a camping holiday and end up being terrorized", kind of film, but as far as that genre goes, this one is one of the best.

The acting is not the best for some of the players; some seem to be fresh out of their first acting class, and trying too hard, but they were also stuck with cliche characters as most of these types are. One actor, the one playing the nerd, stood out. What made this movie better than most was that the ending really did trip me up a couple of times with several unexpected twists.

It's not Oscar-worthy, lol, but if you're looking for an entertaining "college kids go into the woods" type of film, this one was better than most.
