Big body count in a mostly satisfying finale
fredschaefer-406-6232042 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
After what the fans considered a slow start, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, really ramped itself up as the season went along and finished strong with two hour finale that had plenty of action and a high death count, including one regular who had been with us from the beginning. It also gave us plenty of gore and Walkers, something earlier episodes too often lacked, as skulls were crushed, noses and fingers bitten off and eyes gouged out.

Being the finale of a WALKING DEAD show, of course everything just had to go to hell as safe havens crumbled and our protagonists had to hit the road. There was some major character development, especially in the case of Travis, who truly broke bad on Brandon and Derek after he found out what they'd done to his junior psycho son Chris. This former high school English teacher will never be the same person again, and this is all for the better as he and Madison are now truly on the same page and are is no longer under any illusions that the old world is coming back. They are in place where both of them can go forward together to face the horrors of the Zombie Apocalypse. I feel right now that if anyone threatens their family two in Season Three, it will not be pretty. Then there is the big hint Madison dropped that there is some real darkness in her past, something fans have suspected from the beginning. I still wonder if her maiden name back in Alabama wasn't Dixon.

The other big character focus in this show was Nick Clark, Madison's missing son, who had found a home with Alejandro and Luciana's group. But as with the way of both Walking Dead shows, home doesn't stay home for very long, and ultimately it was Nick who did the right thing (or tried to) after almost cutting and running. But as always with this franchise that new safe haven just over the horizon (remember Terminus?) turns out to be anything but. I loved Nick's character arc over this whole season, as the former junkie screw up had risen to the challenge of this deadly new world; and the producers gave Nick one of the goriest Walker kills ever in the finale. Also liked how they let Alejandro redeem himself after all his deceptions and sacrifice himself for his people and take out the gang members at the same time.

What I didn't like was the way they killed off Chris in a flashback, and in a truck crash no less, where he had to be put down Brandon and Derek. Chris was someone fans loved to hate and had generated the most intense reaction all through season two; after his final scene with Travis, we all primed something epic from Chris and the resolution just didn't satisfy.

What also didn't satisfy was Victor Strand and his decision to stay at the hotel after Travis, Madison and Alicia decided to hit the road; Strand and Madison had great chemistry working together and it will be missed. Hopefully there will be a reunion next season.

And as for next season, this finale left everyone in an uncertain situation to say the least. It does not look good for Nick, Luciana and the rest when they ran into those last ditch border guards; who captured Orfelia and what have they done with her? Will we see Daniel again, as it has been hinted at; how about Tobias, haven't forgotten about him.

One suggestion: it's time to stop overusing the guts trick, it has gotten old.

"North" Is A Beautiful Finale

It's no surprise that we are leading into the absolute best season of the Walking Dead Universe. And this episode is the bridge that crosses over to that path, and it does a phenomenally good job at it.

The coincidences of someone's actions hurt our group quite a lot and enable them to make some rash decisions.

The character development was outstanding and you can really see these people turn into survivors now.

Disappointing Season Final

Warning: Spoilers
This Season 2 Final was a little bit disappointing, there was more action but it was not enough for a higher rating on this show. I hope Season 3 will be a better one cause this season was a little bit dissapointing.

Finally the episode that fully meets or exceeds high expectations
ramair3503 October 2016
I have almost felt sorry for this show since the beginning. Even if it was a very good show, it would be virtually impossible to match the characters and story line of the incredible "The Walking Dead" show. There is no way that right off the bat you can care about a character or understand their motivations, so I knew going in this show would have a tough time getting traction.

Well, after a first couple of seasons where the shows ranged from "pretty good" to "meh", the finale delivered a home run that puts it squarely in the territory among the best episodes of "The Walking Dead." Action, complex characters, and just the ability to pull in the viewer to where you are REALLY 100% engaged is what this episode provided for me. I cared about what was happening on the screen. I emotionally felt for the characters. I enjoyed the "gags" of new ways of killing the dead and clever ways of staying alive.

This episode for me was really to first that moved me, and at the end of the day proved to be an incredibly enjoyable two hour ride of television. And thanks to this episode, I am now engaged enough with this show that I can't wait for the next season. For meeting (and in some ways exceeding) my sky-high expectations that were cemented by the original "The Walking Dead", I give this particular episode of "Fear" a 10.

Loved the finale, but........

Warning: Spoilers
Quite angry about Elena and Hector suddenly being anti Madison and team Oscar. I recall Alicia telling Elena she would not let the Guests hurt her or toss her out when they first met. I know they made their rules but the mom was allowed to stay locked up. Travis was devastated by his son's murder. Other than hypocrisy, I still love this show.

another good episode

Warning: Spoilers
2x15 Rating: 8.6/10

Storyline: Travis sits dazed on the hotel cafe floor after killing Brandon and Derek. Hector and Elena haul Travis away and remove Oscar, who is unconscious after Travis attacked him to prevent him from interfering. Madison tries to defend Travis, but Elena points out that he killed two men and badly hurt Oscar.

Madison returns to the cafe and stabs Brandon and Derek through the head.

Luciana dresses Alejandro's bite wound. He tells her he's dying. She orders him to lie to the townspeople to keep their faith intact.

Strand tries to dissuade Madison from speaking up for Travis, who Elena wants to banish. Alicia and Madison decide to leave the hotel together with Travis. Strand refuses to join them.

Madison tells Elena that they will leave with Travis in the morning and asks her to release Travis from captivity. Elena feels she owes Madison and allows it despite Hector's reluctance.

Madison enters the game room where Travis is locked up and tells him that she and Alicia will leave with him in the morning.

Nick begs Luciana to leave La Colonia with him. "We're going to meet our fate," she says. "Do what you do, Nick. Run."

Andrés treats Oscar, who is still unconscious. Alicia offers to help. He tells her he must remove a piece of Oscar's skull to reduce swelling and orders her to leave.

Alejandro warns the townspeople that men are coming to kill them, but that their faith will protect them. "We will not die today," he declares.

Meanwhile, Nick leaves La Colonia. As he walks down a Tijuana road smeared with infected blood, he spots a helicopter landing in the near distance.

Andrés drills into Oscar's head as Elena and Hector stand by.

That night, Madison joins Travis on the balcony of their hotel room and assures him that Brandon and Derek deserved their fate. She says that she too killed someone - Celia - in order to protect Nick.

Oscar dies on the operating table. Andrés slams his fist in anger. Hector seethes and rants to Elena that Travis is safe and sound upstairs. Elena reminds him that they made a deal with Madison.

Hector and Andrés barge into Travis' room and beat him. Andrés holds a gun to Travis' head. Alicia stabs Andrés, and a melee ensues. Strand grabs Andrés' gun and orders everyone out. "We need to run," he says.

Travis, Madison, and Alicia pile into a car outside the hotel. Strand gives the gun to Madison and stays behind. Travis accelerates and plows through the front gate.

Nick returns to La Colonia and goes to Alejandro in his trailer. Nick says he saw a medevac helicopter land in a camp near the border and urges Alejandro to give the villagers permission to flee. Nick says he and Luciana can lead the villagers north.

Madison, Travis, and Alicia go to El Pelícano to look for Nick. They discover the bodies of Francisco's family in the back of the empty market, bullet wounds through their heads. They find Francisco's driver's license with his La Colonia address.

The next day, Marco and the Los Hermanos gangsters arrive at La Colonia and shoot infected in the fenced yard before entering the premises.

Marco's gang finds the town deserted and celebrates their easy victory. Alejandro watches from a hiding spot then goes to the school bus in the yard. He starts the bus. Marco hears the bus and runs toward the yard.

Alejandro drives the bus forward, unblocking the fence gap and allowing the infected to flood into La Colonia. Marco's gang sees the herd walking toward them and runs.

Nick and Luciana lead the villagers toward the U. S. border.

Madison, Travis, and Alicia arrive in La Colonia. While Madison and Travis enters La Colonia to search for Nick, Alicia stays behind in the yard and notices the stalled school bus.

In the town square, Travis and Madison encounter a large herd of infected, which now includes Marco and his gangsters.

Madison and Travis find Alicia on the bus, tending to a dying Alejandro. Madison tells Alejandro she's looking for Nick. Alejandro informs Madison that Nick went to the border because he saw something, but dies before he can mention the camp.

Nick, Luciana, and the Colonists arrive at the border crossing. A plume of smoke rises in the distance. Through binoculars, Nick sees the medevac helicopter leaving a refugee camp. An armed survivor suddenly pops up from behind an abandoned vehicle and shoots Luciana, then the entire armed group emerges and open fire onto the Colonists. Nick and Luciana hide behind a booth but are captured by one of the attackers.

On the bus, Alicia hands Madison her Balisong. Madison closes Alejandro's eyes, turns his head to the side, and drives in the blade, preventing him from reanimating.

The armed men separate Nick and Luciana and shove them to the ground.

As the group is forced to make difficult decisions and face tough moral dilemmas, the episode highlights the complexities of human nature and the harsh realities of survival
fernandoschiavi13 April 2024
In the community, Alejandro refuses to back down and orders the community members to prepare to defend their homes. Not wanting to get caught in the fighting, Nick quietly leaves and notices a helicopter landing on the American side of the border. He returns to the community and convinces Alejandro to evacuate the community. The next day, the bandits arrive to find the community seemingly abandoned. However, a terminally ill Alejandro breaks open the community's improvised gate, letting the infected to enter and kill most of the men. Nick and Luciana lead their group out of the colony and towards the border only to be shot at and captured.

At the hotel, Oscar suffers a severe head injury due to Travis and is taken to be treated. Since Travis violated the rule of no violence against other survivors, Strand warns Madison that Travis must be exiled in order to maintain the unity of the hotel survivors. Despite everybody's best efforts, Oscar dies from his head injury and Elena's nephew along with others decide to execute Travis. Alicia is forced to kill one of them to save his life and they flee the hotel with Strand's help who stays behind. They make to the Colonia where a dying Alejandro, and his last words instruct them to look for Nick at the border.

"North," is a thrilling and intense conclusion to the season that sees the group facing their biggest challenges yet as they strive to survive in a world overrun by the undead. The episode picks up immediately after the events of the previous episode, with the group fractured and on the run.

One of the standout aspects of this episode is its exploration of the lengths people will go to protect themselves and their loved ones in the face of danger. As the group is forced to make difficult decisions and face tough moral dilemmas, the episode highlights the complexities of human nature and the harsh realities of survival in a post-apocalyptic world. This theme is further emphasized in a gripping scene where two characters are forced to confront their own morality as they are faced with a life-or-death situation.

Another compelling aspect of "North" is its focus on the relationships between the characters and how they have evolved over the course of the season. As tensions rise and loyalties are tested, the episode delves into the emotional impact of the group's journey and the bonds that have been forged along the way. This theme is particularly poignant in a touching scene between two characters who find solace in each other's company amidst the chaos and destruction.

In conclusion, "North" is a powerful and emotionally charged episode that delivers on all fronts. With its intense action sequences, thought-provoking themes, and compelling character development, the episode serves as a fitting conclusion to the season and sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting third season.

Heading North
claudio_carvalho15 November 2016
Alejandro is bitten by a zombie and Nick learns that he is not immune to the infection. He tries to convince the leader to let his people go before the attack of Marco's gang and to head north with him. Meanwhile Madison decides to leave the hotel early in the morning with Alicia and Travis that was expelled. But there is a surprise during the night and their getaway does not happen as planned.

"North" shows that Alejandro did not tell the truth to his people expecting to bring hope to them. His final act dignifies his actions and it is good to see the fate of Marco and his gang. What happened to Ofelia and what will happen to Nick, Luciana and their followers is the suspense for the next season. My vote is six.

Great Finale & Excited For More!
panagiotis199317 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They forced Travis to leave the hotel. Well rules are rules, it makes sense, he killed three people. Everyone leaving the hotel? This could be the start of a new adventure, I dig it. Nick is right, Luciana is wrong. What's the point of staying? It's certain death. So the guys that were with Oscar came back for revenge and things got out of control, really sweet and intense. Everybody leaves but Victor stays at the hotel? Why? It's remarkable how much Alejandro cares about his people. Also the way he sacrificed himself amazing, a true hero. Love how they are all covered in zombie guts to be invisible. And wow what a cliffhanger with Luciana's people running after these army looking guys started shooting at them. Very nice episode overall and satisfying season 2 finale, can't wait to watch season 3. My rating is 9/10.
