It was the episode that hooked me into blacklist.

One reason this episode is good is that the information it gives us. From the very beginning we thought that REDDINGTON and KEEN might have some connection between them. In this episode, at the final scene, the song "Our house" gives a clear sight of where it is going. Although throughout the whole series it never confirms our suspicion. Apart of that, the direction, the screenplay, the acting, the always good JAMES SPADER, and a time when Keen wasn't an idiot.

why this episode is a perfect "10"
A_Different_Drummer13 October 2015
1. All the basics are there. Perfect writing, acting, pacing, direction, music ... just wonderful. In fact, if a viewer who had NEVER seen the first two seasons were (hypothetically) to see this episode, I believe said viewer would become an instant fan and back-order the first two seasons from Amazon. It's THAT good.

2. Boone and Diego Klattenhoff step up their game, revealing aspects of their characters even die-hard fans have never seen before.

3. The always-amazing Spader does a throwaway exchange at the diner which could well go down in film history, alongside De Niro's ARE YOU TALKING TO ME, Eastwood's DO YOU FEEL LUCKY and Nicholson's instructions from FIVE EASY PIECES (also set in a diner) on how to order toast.

4. Also like the running gag off the top which is obviously meant for insiders only, where the drop-title with the Blacklist number that USED to represent the FBI target for the episode is still running, even though (discussed in an earlier review) the short-arc for the entire series has changed in a most dramatic way.

5. With the writing team at POI caught in a lobster trap entirely of their own making, this series along with BANSHEE are possibly the two board leaders for the year.

One Door Closes and.........
Hitchcoc14 November 2022
This whole episode is about avoiding capture. After Elizabeth bluffs her way out of the Russian Embassy, it is revealed that she is on a death trip and Ressler has to save her, much to his chagrin. He continues to be both a positive and negative influence on the bigger picture. Soon things end up in a diner, where Red and Liz take hostages and use them to facilitate their escape. Dembe has to deal with that crazy guy who poisoned his daughter and him. He will continue to be a player as Dembe is hogtied. And suddenly, our bad penny appears to Ressler with some cock and bull story in the offing, no doubt. His appearance seems a bit Christlike.
