On the Move to Nondescript Africa
Hitchcoc16 July 2017
It's an odd dichotomy. Pope Lenny at times deplores publicity and turns his back on the traditional avarice necessary to run his domain. He is truly pious. But now he sees his work as a publicity nightmare and in comes his favorite girl. She makes recommendations about sticks with no carrots. Eventually, he reluctantly makes his way to see an African nun who is corrupt and narcissistic. She is thought of as a saint and yet she is much responsible for deplorable conditions in her country. She is more interested in getting a selfie with the Pope than serious discussion. He sees how awful things are but, in his inimitable way, isn't all that interested in closing up the gaps. He has become more and more pretentious and some of the directors images really enhance this.
