Strong opening!

Warning: Spoilers
The pilot for this series in my opinion was well delivered!

I loved the very beginning of this episode as it instantaneously hooked me, with an expectant mother and her husband being brutally murdered in their own home!! (happens everyday irl) The killer is apprehended for this crime though which made me think.. OK, they caught the guy, what's the show gonna be about?

Is he gonna have a fan? An acolyte? Doing his dirty deeds done dirt cheap?

Or is he gonna be released to kill again? How is it gonna play out?

Never in a million years would I have imagined what was to come, brilliantly orchestrated and had me guessing and going over everything in my head from beginning to end, even if I thought it was a little tacky!

Strongest episode of the season, all downhill from here
carolartmuir16 October 2023
This episode is pretty good. It makes you want to watch more. It's like buying an album because you loved a single. But once you get past that first f amilar track, it's all filler. This is the only episode in the season with any bite. You might watch on, hoping it gets better. The closest it comes is when it repeats the entire opening scene later on. The last episode is the weakest. The reveal is lackluster. Throughout the series it's really hard to connect with the characters. The actors seem too polite to pull off the darker tone of the genre. When they try to be bold, it falls flat. It made me laugh more often than it made me jump. This first episode shows promise. But I felt more punished than rewarded for sticking around for the end.

Not engaging enough
hellholehorror18 November 2023
I'm only reviewing the first episode of the first season. I wasn't engaged enough to watch any more episodes. I found the characters dull and the story boring. It wasn't scary enough to thrill. I just can't see how on earth this could fill 8 episodes when they struggled to hold my attention for 1 episode. The mystery around it might be enough to keep some people watching but not me I'm afraid. There is nothing memorable about it, everything looks and feels so drab. At least with a slasher movie you usually get good pacing and some great set pieces but not in a slasher series. Enough people just like it though as there's been like 5 seasons.
