Not A Bad Flick
Foutainoflife28 May 2019
A girl is asked to help a family give an elderly woman the gift of seeing her granddaughter. The elderly woman doesn't have long to live and doesn't know that the granddaughter has passed away. While she is apprehensive, she ultimately decides to help the family. Once she arrives at the family property, she begins to feel sinister nature to the events taking place around her and also being to see ghosts. She is unsure about what is going on and soon begins to believe that she is the dead granddaughter and her family members are plotting against her.

This isn't bad but it isn't what I consider to be a horror flick. It seems more like a psychological thriller with some paranormal elements thrown into it. I have to use subtitles and it sorta got a bit confusing around the end and I had to replay it a couple times to make sure I knew what was going on. It may have had a couple of jump scares but there wasn't much going on in the "scary" department.

Once again, it isn't a bad film but it isn't anything to rave about. If you are looking for a way to pass some time it will keep you occupied. If you are looking for something to tingle your spine, you may want to look elsewhere.

Watchable but not very good

I watched it all the way through. It's like a mediocre version of a bunch of different movies. Nothing much happens but you keep thinking it will. It's good if you are knackered on a Sunday afternoon after eating too much pizza and falling asleep.

Warning: Spoilers
Even in a ridiculous plot that looks like Mexican soap opera, there is a scene that shows that Danny Pang has not lost the ability to create good moments of tension with ghosts, but unfortunately it is just one scene. The film's development is cliché and the twist is not surprising at all, it's the same as a film by his brother Oxide Pang (Diary). It's not sooo bad, but it's just a average movie.

Good story, poorly directed

Although this story is good enough to keep the viewer's attention, it was harmed by an almost boring flow. The plot is interesting, but the suspenseful parts were not well explored, making the movie predictable in the most of parts. I watched it 'til the end to have a fair oppinion to put here, but it was hard I would say.

Strange house (2015)

The life of Yezi (Jiao Xu) is been simple and peaceful until she meets Zi-jun (Cheung Siu Fai Eddie).

Zi is told of her resemblance to a deceased friend of Jun, Le-Rong.

Rong's grandma has been severely sick in bed and is desperate to see Rong before she passes on. Kindhearted Zi is so moved that she agrees to pretend to be Rong and visit Rong's grandma, who lives in an ancient house far away.

When she finally gets there, the feeling of fear and uneasiness spreads out progressively.

Rong's seemingly-hospitable family doesn't convince Zi, she can't stop skeptically wondering if they're hiding a scheme.

Weird things start happening, Zi keeps seeing Rong in her dreams, and every day she feels like Rong is right next to her wanting to talk to her--maybe even seeking her help.

The feelings are so real, yet so vague--is it only Zi's illusion, or is Rong really around?

Zi is deeply bewildered by the mysterious experience, until one day she decides to use an abnormal way to connect with Rong.

Good story but poor execution... One time watchable movie..
