Nickelodeon's best days are behind them
mattbennet7 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Just watched the premier of this show on YTV and just like all the other shows that air these days, this one was a huge disappointment.

The show starts off with a 14 year old girl named Talia moving to her grandmother's house for the summer where she discovers her favorite restaurant is closed and a rival restaurant opened up across the street (not the most exciting plot... a cook off between two restaurants) and she meets a blonde guy named Rudy along with your typical loud, dumb character named Valerie a red headed girl who already managed to annoy me in her first appearance. Others characters include two snobby teenagers who work at the rival restaurant across the street and blah blah blah... anyways so Talia is curious and visits her old restaurant and discovers her fathers secret spices which she will eventually use to revive the closed restaurant.

I witnessed absolutely no comedy or plot development in this episode.. apparently a guy falling down the stairs was the best the creators could come up with. Another thing I noticed was the music used to create suspense / drama in shows is over used way too much, I heard some corny music playing every 5 minutes...

The shows these days have absolutely zero entertainment value, writers are lazy, the actors say a bunch of simple lines with no emotion that any moron is capable of doing. Terrible show, last time Nickelodeon delivered something worth watching was a decade ago.

God awful!!!

Ok, I am not a fan of laugh tracks especially when it's over used. But by god this show definitely needs on! Without it I can feel the awkward vibe in their acting. I can also barely stand the first episode, but up to the 10th I just couldn't watch it anymore. It was repetitive, poor acting, terrible jokes, and I can't say I'm surprised that this show only had one season.

Bland, uninspired and poorly executed

Warning: Spoilers
Warning: The following contains spoilers; if you haven't seen this show you might want to before reading this review. Apparently from the creators of House of Anubis and Every Witch Way comes this tasteless and uninspired show, Talia in the Kitchen. From the first episode alone I was convinced that this is Nickelodeon at their lowest with bland characters, and unoriginal plot and horrible humor. In the first episode, And Spice Makes Nice, Talia and her friends try to run Talia's grandmother's restaurant because potatoes. At the same time, there's a sub-plot in which the characters eat nachos and get cranky and another sub-plot where this young man is trying to find the secret ingredient in Talia's grandmother's dessert. That's the first problem with the episode: neither of the sub-plots have anything to do with the main plot. They're just there to provide the worst humor I've seen in a show. Another problem is the plot itself; it's beyond unoriginal and horribly executed. The characters aren't any better; each one of them is a tasteless trope with no definitive personalities. I don't recommend this show to any child because the plot is unoriginal and terribly executed, it's not funny, and the characters are just tropes. I'd rather you have your kids what any show on Food Network than this pathetic attempt at a series set in the kitchen.
