Wirth watching, albeit not too surprising.

Waterboys. The advantage of having a cinema-subscription is you watch movies you wouldn't normally. This is one of those. I went in without any preconceptions or ideas about what I was going to see, other than the 2nd half of the trailer, as I saw that one time when I came in late for another film.

The story, though not too surprising, is believable, made more so by the okay acting. Some nice advertisement for Edinburgh in this picture as well, but it does fit. The pace of the story is good, and the character-development seems natural. But what really carries this movie is the music.

Of course The Waterboys have a nice repertoire of songs that lend themselves well for this kind of stories, but the correct usage of volume makes it all the more powerful.

All in all, worth watching, not worth an Oscar. ;)

Amazing Father-Son trip to the Waterboys
ruudvanmeer7 December 2016
a Dutch Father and Son (conflicting characters) both see their relationship ending. They travel to Edinburgh, Scotland for a book promotion. Love is all around, especially the love for music.

This is all supported by the brilliant music of the Waterboys. They are an 80s one-hit wonder band (the Whole of the Moon). The band created a dozen of the most brilliant albums, all written by Mike Scott. The soundtrack of the movie is superb.

For a Dutch movie this is a classic. For a father-son movie this story is also very well told and acted.

A must see film.

Warning: Spoilers
Absolutely amazing!I didn't expect something special in the beginning, but later, this film made my day.Leopold's age is nearly mine, just his sons and my son, and every second of their relationship was... just...good known! Recommanded for all fathers and sons in their early confusion relationships. Thanks for this little masterpiece!

Father and son reconnect

Leopold Witte and son Tim Linde go to Edinburgh, Scotland for a book signing. They have been kicked out by their partners. In Scotland Linde (Zack) falls for a girl. Witte also has a good time with the publisher's publicist. They read the letter from the wife. They fight and become closer. Edinburgh is beautiful. I love the fishing scenes where a fresh caught salmon is fried on site. The stream water was so clean. The Waterboys' music is wonderful in live concert.
