This is Pete Poznanski's second collaboration with Director Carlos Enrique Tejera. They previously work together in the short film Deliver Us From Evil.
Nostalgia was shot with four different cameras: Clairmont 35mm, 2.5K Blackmagic Cinema, Sony F5, and Canon 5D. 35mm was used for Alexander's best and worse moments of his life. The F5 was used for Alexander as a teenager. Most of the film was shot on Blackmagic. The Canon was mainly used by the Second Unit Team.
Nostalgia is based on the short short Nostalgia (2013) by Director Tejera. The short short was based on a classroom exercise Tejera did back in 2012.
Tejera had Dane DeHaan in mind when he wrote the part of Alexander.
The part of Dr. Floyd (The Psychologist) was originally written for a male actor but Tejera immediately changed his mind after being blown away by Karen Ragan-George's audition.
