Incredible!

Warning: Spoilers
Season 6b of The Walking Dead is simply amazing so far. Episode 12 is full of tension and great character moments. Melissa McBride's acting is just perfect.

"Not Tomorrow Yet" is one of these episodes that keeps you on the edge of your seat. There are very uneven situations in this episode and some interpersonal conflicts, especially between Carol and Maggie. Man, this week's installment hooked me so much!

Some people may consider this episode as a "simple set-up for more to come", but in my humble opinion "Not Tomorrow Yet" is a strong and organic 40-minute-thriller. I can't wait for episode 13.

Starts slow, ends fast. Warning: Spoilers
This episode brought me something I didn't expect from Walking Dead; character development that's actually interesting. This isn't just a development episode, either. It has more than a fair share of action. Let's break it down.

The episode opens up focusing on Carol and planning the assault on the Saviors. Carol's role with regards to the community is summed up in a neat way, and the proposed assault provides good interpersonal conflict. Then the plan starts to be set in motion making way for a great dark Rick moment and an interesting revelation from Glenn that leads to an amazing performance moment from Steven Yeun later in the episode. Then the siege begins. It's tension filled, action-packed, and keeps you guessing until the end.

I don't think this is the Savior's actual base. It's very different in the comics, and the end suggests that at the very least there's more going on here than there first appeared to be. The episode also has a very chilling little moment of foreshadowing that is sickening to those who know what will eventually happen.

This was a pretty great episode. It sets things up for the future but also has a lot of things that are good in their own right.

My heart is still beating so fast

Warning: Spoilers
Amazing.

Simply amazing.

The Walking Dead really has picked up its game this season. I am so impressed with their work that if this momentum continues until the end of the season, then I'd argue this could be the best season yet.

The tension was running so high in this episode that it honestly felt like such a relief when one of the Saviours finally pulled the alarm and we were no longer on edge and worrying about waking them all up. Of course, that's when the action truly began though. And my oh my was it incredible.

Seeing everyone work together so coherently as a team and kicking so much ass was like seeing a baby walk for the first time. It shows just how far they've come, and hopefully how much further they can go.

Plus, you know sh*t's getting serious when Father Gabriel kills someone. Amen.

I also loved the focus on Carol throughout the episode. Her presence and performance in this episode makes up for her lack thereof in the two preceding episodes. Although, I'm now fearful for her future as it seems as though she's now in the hands of Negan, and the way this episode was structured made it feel as though it was a character-exit episode; I hope I'm wrong and we don't see a repeat of what happened to Hershel...

The fact that we have to wait seven days before seeing what happens next is going to drive me insane, but this just goes to show what a remarkable job the writers are doing.

Excellent episode; keep 'em coming.

"This is how we eat."

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was something special, it shows the evolution of the group from being the hunted to the hunters. It also reaches huge milestones for Characters such as Glenn who gets his first human kills this episode, breaking a piece of himself for the safety of his family. There was so much about this episode that I loved that It's one of the episodes I can go back and re-watch. It's a top 5 for sure in my opinion.

We Kill Them All
ThomasDrufke8 March 2016
After a slower episode last week, "Not Tomorrow Yet" really picked up the pace. For awhile, I thought that we may even get a quick glimpse at Negan. The pace was exponentially higher and we got a Zero Dark Thirty-esque raid into one of Negan's territories. While this wasn't the masterpiece that No Way Out was, it was certainly another entry into the long line of phenomenal episodes for Walking Dead.

We began with another relatively peaceful song as a companion piece to Carol acting like a mom delivering cookies to the people of Alexandria. In large part, this was Carol's episode. She dealt with the guilt of not telling Rick about Morgan keeping one of the Wolves alive and the consequences that followed. I'd like to think this was a direct response to her being exiled way back in Season 4. She knows how it felt to be outcast by people she has known for so long so I think she knows exactly what Morgan is going through. Her overprotectiveness turned out to have tragic consequences as she and Maggie were kidnapped by the end of the episode due to Carol's lack of concentration.

I'm really interested to see just how far this Morgan and Rick conflict will go this season as it seems like Morgan is a prime candidate to be a culprit to Negan's baseball bat by the end of the season, but who knows. It's great to see that Rick is once again taking everyone's views into account by holding a meeting at the church, but it's not like he was ever going to anything but go through with the plans.

Of course, everyone had to give their goodbyes to the people who were staying in Alexandria. Tara and Denise shared a moment, which was far different from the harsh scene between Abraham and Rosita. "I thought you were the only woman left in the world, well, you're not", Dang Abraham. Tara also had a hug with Glenn near the end which also seemed to send us a signal saying that was the last time they would see each other. Perhaps Tara could die? I hardly believe the producers would put Glenn through another dead/not dead scenario yet again.

Speaking of Glenn, he joined the club of killing people in cold blood as most of the team also joined in on the killing of Negan's men. It's weird to think that some of the crew hadn't killed people yet and Glenn was one of them. This season has had plenty of firsts, and I don't think these 'murders' will be the last time we see the team do some crazy stuff this season. Of course, those brutal scenes were nicely complemented by us seeing the pictures of what some of Negan's people are capable of, so perhaps it's justified?

It would be wrong for me not to mention the fantastic score by Bear McCreary this week throughout the raid scene as well as the direction and choreography. It's just another extremely well handled episode for the latter half of season 6. This season is shaping up nicely.

Tense Episode
claudio_carvalho7 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Rick brings the deal Maggie made with Gregory in Hilltop to be voted by the Alexandrians and his group. They decide to kill The Saviors to get the necessary food and supplies from Hilltop. Rick plots a plan to break in The Saviors' facility while Carol and Maggie look out the perimeter. They succeed with their intent and when they are ready to return to Alexandria, they have a surprise.

"Not Tomorrow Yet" is a tense episode of "The Walking Dead". The beginning shows how uncomfortable Rick's group and the Alexandrians are with the decision of becoming murderers to get food. Morgan is a strange character and what is he welding? The decision of bringing the pregnant Maggie to a deadly confrontation is totally wrong. The invasion of Rick and his group but the climax is in the conclusion. Apparently the facility is not the hideout of Negan and The Saviors. My vote is ten.

Title (Brazil): "Not Tomorrow Yet"

Note: On 25 April 2016, I saw this show again.

Epitomising tension
TheLittleSongbird13 April 2020
Seasons 1-5 were very solid and at their best absolutely brilliant. Season 6 was inconsistent with a lot of fine things and with flashes of brilliance, starting off brilliant but from the fifth episode onwards it started to vary. Seasons 7 and 8 were like watching a completely different show in a bad way, have not watched Seasons 9 and 10 yet but have heard mixed opinions. The second half of the sixth season started off with a big return to form and continued solidly if unexceptionally.

"Not Tomorrow Yet" though is a return to the exceptional standard for the season and of 'The Walking Dead' in general, and it is very easy to see why it was and still is acclaimed so highly. Found it to be by far the best episode up to this point of the season and the show since "No Way Out", one of Season 6's best and one of the better 'The Walking Dead' episodes up to this point. "Not Tomorrow Yet" is the way to do an episode, or anything for that matter, with large amounts of tension and vast emotional impact.

It is a terrific looking episode, gritty, stylish and of near-cinematic quality. Regarding the music score, "Not Tomorrow Yet" gets my personal vote for the best scored Season 6 episode and one of 'The Walking Dead's' standout scores. Understated at times yet haunting and often ominous. The direction is both alert and accomodating.

There was no disappointment when it comes to the writing, it was tight rather than rambling and had a wide range of emotions throughout. Carol was a triumph of character writing with a lot of juicy material, and Rick's little speech is quite stirring. The story is full of slow-burning tension, the more action-packed the story got the more the tension increased as did the excitement. The ending is incredibly powerful, and one of the season's and show's standout endings in my view.

While all the characters are well served, Carol is especially well showcased. Rick and Morgan also. There is nothing bad to say about the acting, but Melissa McBride is on scintillating form.

Concluding, outstanding episode. 10/10

omg !!! one of the most badass episodes of the series full of character development, plot evolution, great character moments and a great cliffhanger
MomentIMDB24 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The episode starts with Carol and how she lives inside Alexandria, something I love. Carol throughout the episode has a very interesting development. Carol starts a relationship with Tobin. Rick and the others argue about the attack on the saviors, I liked that Morgan refutes that and the others decide to attack, something they learned from the wolves. A great scene was when Abraham leaves Rosita for Sasha, the result of the development he had in the previous episode. Something this chapter achieves is to achieve great character interaction, good development, well-directed action sequences and plot evolution. Glenn and Heath have good development, since they both never killed anyone and I loved the scenes in which they saved saviors. the attack on the base was epic and surprising, with good direction. I loved the detail that Rick cost him to kill the sleeping saviors, since he is not a murderer. Carol tried to get Maggie away from the attack since she thinks Maggie has the future and doesn't want her to become a murderer. I loved the end of the episode and left us a big cliffhanger

Excellent Episode!
vishu_24077 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
There are going to be spoilers. Anyway, the first half of the episode consists of Rick gathering everyone in the church and telling them that if they need food, they need to ambush the Saviors. Morgan says that they should talk to the Saviors first, which Rick disagrees, and surprisingly, so does Aaron. He says that he doesn't want another attack on Alexandria and that they've lost enough.

Morgan, Carl, Denise, Eugene, etc stay away. Carol, earlier delivers cookies to everyone, including Tobin, who says he loves them, but Carol doesn't believe him, thinking he's screwing with her. She maintains a kill list in her diary, and walks out for a cigarette break at night. Tobin talks to her and they sit beside each other at the porch. He tells her that he's terrified of what she does, and believes she can only do it because she's a mother. Carol asks if she's a mother to him too..and it's obvious, that he says no. Things ensue, and they have a small kiss. Wow, this was unexpected!

Anyway, Andy, the guy who's hand was broken and was in the Saviors' compound before to deliver them supplies, draws a rough map of the Saviors' compound and the group leaves. Maggie and Carol take guard near the vehicles, while the rest scavenge for Walkers. Why? Because they plan to give the Saviors', Gregory's head. They manage to somehow find a walker head which somewhat looks like Gregory and Rick punches it thrice to make it look like Andy hit Gregory's nose in retaliation to getting his hand broke.

Andy goes alone and delivers the head to two Savior' guards. Things are very tense, but they're fooled into believing it's the real Gregory. One of them goes inside, while Daryl kills the other one from the back. Boom! Throat slit. Classic! Anyway, Rick's group disappears again and the other gets the sword from the back. With both of them dead, they infiltrate the inside of the compound. Rick opens a door to a room, and silently drives his knife into a sleeping Saviors' skull...err that was brutal. Glenn and Heath had a talk before about killing, and how they both hated it. Anyway, Glenn and Heath open another room's door, and Glenn reluctantly drives his knife into a Saviors' skull. Heath is still too mentally weak to kill, so Glenn obliges and kills the other Savior. Meanwhile, Sasha drives her knife into a Saviors' stomach, but he manages to sound the alarm, creating a panic among everyone. With no choice, Rick, Daryl, Michonne and others go on a murderous rampage, shooting every Savior in sight. A gunfight ensues, and Aaron drives his knife into a Saviors' heart! Beautiful. Some good character development there. Glenn and Heath are assaulted by the gunfire, but they manage to hide in a room. With no choice, they pick up two LMGs and shoot through the door, murdering around 6 Saviors. Dark as hell..and I love it!

Also, Father Gabriel points his gun at a Savior and the Savior mocks him. Gabriel then kills him, with no choice, saying Amen at the end. Beautiful again! Great character development.

In the end, it's morning and they think they've killed everyone when a girl announces on the walkie-talkie that they have Maggie and Carol! Tense way to finish the episode. Overall, fantastic episode with a slightly slow start, but excellent finish and great amount of character developments! Man, when Negan arrives, the show is going to change forever.

Tense from start to finish
ploski7 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
From the beginning until the end of this episode the tension grows as we do not know when the upper hand of our group going into the fray is going to finish and how. And the angst each character displays in expecting the unexpected, the ominous nemesis of the comics, can truly be felt. I've not been on the edge of the seat throughout the entire show as much as tonight. The pictures on the wall...well...will be the fate of one of them.

If this was just a small detachment of Negan's army, then there's a lot more manpower in store for us yet.

In my opinion, Season 6 already managed to surpass all previous ones, regardless of what happens until the end of it. Can't imagine how they'll save Negan's appearance until Ep. 16, unless they drag the next 3 like they did with the Gov'nah.

I come here in 2021 because years later I still think of this episode and watch it. The episode where our group went from the hunted to the hunters. This episode shows how far our hero's have come since the first season and shows how they aren't the same innocent characters we knew from day 1. Forever will love this episode

The tensest episode yet
TheDonaldofDoom29 October 2016
Wow. Just wow. This is how to perfectly pull off a quiet yet intense episode. It goes out of TWD's comfort zone and is executed with a totally unique style for the show. Oh sure, the Walking Dead has lots of intense, heart-pounding episodes - that's the best thing about it - but nothing like this. The whole episode just has this ever- increasing tension from the beginning. This is helped by its simple, subtle soundtrack that constantly beats along in the background. There's also an interesting choice not to show as much gore as TWD usually does. There are some brutal deaths, throats bring slit and all but the camera actually cuts away to show the expressions on the killers' faces instead. Not only does this emphasise how horrible it is to kill for the first time but more importantly the general lack of graphic detail means the episode never releases its tension. Instead, the tension continues to build. It all ends with a horrifying twist. After all, things had gone too well.

One minor complaint I have is how easy it was to break in, I mean wouldn't there have been more security, CCTV or something? But that doesn't ruin the tension of the episode anyway. As Season 6 approaches the finale, it looks like it might just be the most explosive yet.

Assassins for Hire?
rollstop2 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode and the one before were rather disappointing. I get that the writers need to create tension and drama to keep its viewers, but the entire time we have seen Rick's crew they have only killed people when they have to in order to defend their own lives and the lives of their group. Now they're killers for hire (basically because they're doing this in order to trade rations with Hilltop)? There's another name for people like this - assassins. How in the world has Rick's crew stooped to become cold-blooded killers? It was actually sickening to watch the once pizza delivery boy, Glenn, kill guys in cold blood by stabbing them in the head with a knife while they slept. Why is he and all of the others OK with this? This makes no sense and does not coincide with the character they have portrayed so far. They are basically on par with The Governor from season 2 and 3.

Also Rick's crew just blindly believes Jesus and Gregory's group that Negan's team is demanding tribute. They have zero proof of any of this and are merely taking their word for it. Now, with all they have experienced thus far why in the world would they even trust this group with out investigating their claims before doing something as rash as becoming cold-blooded killers? Especially since Jesus tried to steal the truck of goods Rick and Daryl had while claiming he did so because his group was low on supplies, yet knowing this, Hilltop supposedly has enough supplies and food to trade with? I have to agree with Morgan in this episode in not wanting to kill.

The action in the episode was good and riveting. But I was no longer rooting for Rick and his team.

Crossing the line
snoozejonc25 January 2022
Rick leads a death squad to murder the Saviours.

This is a brutal, yet gripping episode that develops a good level of suspense.

It is hard to say too much about the plot without spoiling, but it's safe to say that it starts in a quite a calm reflective way and slowly builds tension until you are on edge. When it gets violent, it is realistically portrayed with the odd movie cliché thrown in for good measure.

As ever The Walking Dead depicts a world without the normal social constructions that support civilisation. The past seasons have been mostly about survival from a defensive perspective in an environment beset with predators, but here we see the main protagonists cross the line to become predators.

In theory, Rick's arguments are very pragmatic and it's hard to disagree with the logic, but his view is based on mostly hearsay information, and there is something quite disturbing about seeing characters go in such a dark new direction. Based on actions alone, there is not much difference between this and The Governor, aside from Brian/Phillip's more vindictive and unlikeable personality traits.

Several characters have memorable moments such as Carol, Glenn, Maggie, and Abraham. I particularly like the opening montage sequence involving Carol. Melissa McBride is on top form as ever.

The production values are brilliant, as it uses great cinematography, editing, lighting and sound to make a powerful experience for the viewer. It is a stretch to say that I enjoyed it due to the disturbing subject matter, but cannot deny being compelled.

Intense action!!
and_mikkelsen11 February 2024
Wow this episode really ended on a high-note! You know it is building towards something, and you are really put on edge, once the pieces are set in motion! I think I stopped breathing a couple of times!

This episode had thrills and suspense, in a different way than what we are used to! Its intense human vs human action! People with firearms fighting other people with firearms! Its a reminder, what the next big threat is gonna be!

It was shot and directed really well, as the setting was quite unique! Despite the lack of walkers, the episode is still brutal with some graphic moments!

The ending proved that victory would not be that easy!

A great episode that leaves a few questions unanswered
tartydoris27 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this episode but it does leave you with a few questions and as there are 4 episodes left in this season then I guess that is a good thing.

The highlight of the episode was the attack on the Saviours base. Stealthily at first. This led to the first major moment when Rick and Glenn were cold-bloodedly stabbing the Saviours in the head as they slept. This wasn't kill or be killed in the middle of battle, this was something else and was so visceral it turned by stomach.

Our group seemingly killed everyone and was preparing to leave and then we suddenly find out, via walkie talkie, that all the Saviours aren't dead and they have captured Maggie and Carol.

So? This leads to two main questions. Where were all the other Saviours hiding and how did they manage to get from that hiding place to the outside, capture Maggie and Carol, and get hidden again? I can only assume there must be some sort of underground section to the base, which is very well hidden, as surely Rick and our group would have found it when they cleared the place out.

This leads to one final question. Is this where Negan is at? Or do the Saviours have other hideouts? This brings me onto a major gripe. Not with the show but people that review the show on IMDb. Too many people are prone to giving away too much in their reviews. Obviously with inside knowledge from the comics. They subtlety suggest stuff like this can't be where Negan is at as it looks nothing like what it does in the comics. Plus when Glenn was nearly eaten by walkers earlier in the season suggesting that isn't how it happened in the comics (if he dies or not).

I like to read the reviews on IMDb after watching a really good episode to see what other people think. However, too many people are leaving spoilers for upcoming plot lines and it is ****ing me off.

Assualt on Precint 13
xxxNomadicxxx16 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Was one of the best episodes ever, worthy of being a season finale.

It's about time Rick and company quit being victims and got proactive for once.

The shoot outs were real to life and none of that Hollywood enactments.

It also reveals Negan's handy work, and show the type of resources he has.

It also ends with a cliff hanger that would be great for the next season if this was a the finale.

Easily a 10/10 episode.

Consider it one of my favorites of the series.

Our heros forward onto to Neagan
yahaira-729-69470111 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It amazes me that this series is one of the best, filmed, character development and story adaptation around. I never read the comics but one doesn't need to. This episode portrayal begins the fight against the power grabing saviors. Negan's minions who are jaded saddistic parasites who sold out their souls just to be safe. Much to everyone's demise this is just the tip of the iceberg. Its great how they develop Gabriel from a sniveling coward to an avenging angel. Morgan faces his truth and starts to change his behavior. Negan's power reaches far and wide. Carol and Maggie get captured. Carol's character continues to develop wisdom and courage as she evolves from the mousy housewife portrayed in season 1 to a warrior killer. Nothing can defeat her wit. Perhaps this series we orks because it's so believable as they ssy "people are people".

Interesting Episode But NO real planning by Rick
rokbf518 March 2016
They all should have thought that attack out a little wiser before going off half cocked so to speak. I think that they should have planned that as a rescue mission of the hostage of foremost importance first. Rick thought the outcome was assured in their favor. After they rescued Craig & killed those 2 guards what would have been best I would have done is take Craig & the 2 bodies back to hilltop. In that way, when the Savior people awakened they would be wondering why those 2 took off with the hostage. That way to, Maggie & Carol would not have been left alone & taken, & Craig recaptured. Rick & the group could have then re-left hilltop & laid in wait along the road for whatever part of the Saviors came looking & then fought them on their own turf & terms, & even if Negan wasn't with them the Savior group would wonder what is happening to everyone. If Abraham is EX-Military why he would agree to storm an unknown strengthened compound with who knows how many people or weapons was nuts, after all everyone by that time knew that the Saviors had full electrical power, & most likely other utilities when they rolled up on that compound. Why didn't Rick & the rest of them empty out that armory they were in either? I also did not care for the way Abraham broke up with Rosita, telling her right to her face the only reason he was with her was because he thought she was the last woman left: Really Nice - I wonder what Sasha would say (Or IF they are even going together)& how long she would think Abraham would be with her until "Someone Better Comes Along" I am surprised that during that firefight in the hallways, Rosita did not have a oops type Friendly Fire "Accident" on Abraham. Maybe Negan will give the group that is caught an option to let a few go if one person volunteers to kill another with his Bat, Rosita could volunteer to do that - & she could say "Abraham commeon down"

Warning: Spoilers
Of course, this show has to continue its new tradition of being a reality t.v show. The first 15 minutes of it are Carol baking cookies and then giving them to people. Carol and Tobin's love life. Tara and Oliv-.., I mean, Denise's love life. Abraham breaking up with Rosita. And the only good part was when Eugenius Porter was eating one of Carol's cookies while wearing a "Virginia is for lovers" shirt right after they broke up. The part where they attack the outpost wasn't even good. It was just a bunch of boring killing. But of course, there is "action" so the fans rate it 9-10 stars. At least it was important to the plot which this show usually fails to do. After they exit the building a man tries to escape on Daryl's motorcycle. A woman talks from the man's walkie talkie says that they have Carol and Maggie.

That was not the Walking Dead!!!
hazzadhgw31 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode we had Rick and the crew hatching a plan to take some satellite building but there it was not at all to do with trying to survive in a doomed world. This was just some cheap way to captivate people who don't h derby and any sort of film or TV show that doesn't have guns, blood and fighting. There was no trademark Walking Dead character deaths which the show are oh so very good at.

It started out with just a bunch of very bland scenes. Scenes absolutely no substance to them. I felt nothing at all for any of the characters in this episode.

Just a very difficult watch. Is this the beginning of the end of a once great show. I truly hope not.

"Not Tomorrow Yet" is a tense episode that follows Rick and the group as they prepare to launch a preemptive strike against the Saviors
fernandoschiavi18 March 2024
Holding a town meeting, Rick explains the situation with the Saviors and his plan to kill them in order to trade with the Hilltop. Some like Morgan are opposed to the idea while some are for it. After making a plan, Jesus accompanies Rick's team to infiltrate a satellite station where they are located. They they trick the guars into opening the gates and letting the captured Hilltop people out before killing.

Once inside, they systematically kill Saviors in their sleep so as to not arouse an alarm. However, a Savior discovers them and manages to pull the alarm, alerting the compound to the attack. Guns are blazing but the group manages to win. By morning, Heath and Tara go on a supply run and the group prepare to leave. A surviving Savior fails to flee on Daryl's stolen bike and a voice on a walkie tells them that they have Maggie and Carol hostage.
