Lose Rusty
Bronco4611 August 2015
Has anyone else noticed that if you have used your digital video recorder to record this show. You can run right past the the Rusty story lines. And it doesn't affect the main story line at all. And it makes watching the show easier. And it cuts down on problems in your living room. No rolling eyes. No throwing things at the screen when they leave the main story line to deal with more of Rusty's anxieties. This has been a great police procedural since 2005. Between 2005 and 2012 it was known as "The Closer" in those days. But it was, for the most

part the same cast with the exception of Kyra Sedgwick. Who left the show in 2012. The transition to "Major Crimes went pretty well. Even with losing Kyra Sedgwick. But then they decided to extend the Rusty character into the second season of "Major Crimes". All his stories do, is rob minutes from the main story line. Which gives us less "Crime". And more hand wringing. Since they don't seem interested in losing the Rusty character any time soon. My advise is. Record the show. And every time you Rusty's face come on the screen. Fast forward until he no longer on the screen. You won't have missed anything from the main story line. And will have added 8 to 10 minutes back on to your life.

Rusty's story line is so massively annoying it can cause hypertension. Who on earth in the production office was in love with that actor??? My husband said Rusty makes you root for Phillip Stroh to come back. And, that is not a good thing.

The rest of the cast is excellent. The mesh really well.

Some of the proceedure is a stretch to believe, but even the worst of the procedure errors is not nearly as obnoxious as Rusty's angst.

It is awful when producers allow an unnecessary character to ruin a show.

Like Ross on Friends.

Rusty is the Urkel of Major Crimes.

Can you tell how badly I dislike this character???

STOP WHINING about Rusty

Soooooo many negative and nasty things get said here about Rusty. He's an integral part of of the show, he is a member of the family that IS the show. Yeah, we all watch to see the case of the week but the reason this or any other crime solving procedural works, and truly keep us coming back, is the way the characters are a family. Of course Rusty was brought on to soften and humanize Sharon and that was a good thing. He did that and more by eventually bonding with the rest of the characters and now we have a family we can all look forward to seeing (albeit for me on the DVD box set). And I'd bet money that during the actual airing of this show that a great many viewers told the network that they not only liked Rusty but wanted to see more of him which is why he kept getting more and more screen time.

If I'd have watched this show when it was on I'd have commented right here to those Rusty haters to please just stop watching if it bothered you so much. This whole show, as well as its predecessor The Closer, are absolutely great and I wouldn't have asked for a single change.
