A Splendid Finale,
lesleyharris3013 July 2016
Orange is the New Yellow is a great Simpsons episode with a well written plot and plenty of very funny scenes. It was a different episode as we see Marge experience life in prison, and surprisingly enjoying it so much that she does not want to leave, what she goes through to stay in was the highlight for me. The set up is a bit far fetched, as Marge gets annoyed with Bart and forces him to go to the park alone, which was out of character for her, then we are expected to believe that the justice system is ridiculous enough to send a parent to jail for three months for leaving her child unsupervised at a park. Homer's subplot was certainly more fun than the main plot, as he aims to become the great housewife Marge always was, which leads to two hilarious sequences as Homer imagines a life where he stays at home and Marge is the worker. Albeit over the top at times, Orange is the New Yellow is a mostly pleasing finish to the Twenty Seventh Season.

Marge experiences life in prison after leaving her child unsupervised, she soon longs to stay there inside of returning to her boring housewife lifestyle.

"The Simpsons' Kafkaesque Twist: "Orange is the New Yellow" Review"
santifersan18 January 2023
"Orange is the New Yellow" is a classic episode of The Simpsons that showcases the show's characteristic wit and social commentary. The episode, in which Marge is sent to prison for allowing Bart to go to the park alone, is a clear reference to Kafka's "The Trial" and highlights the absurdity of unjust laws and bureaucratic systems. While the episode is enjoyable to watch and the references to Kafka add depth to the story, it feels like a rehash of older episodes and the characters quickly move on as if the events of the episode never occurred. Overall, while it's a decent episode, it would have been nice to see something a bit more fresh and unique.

A good season ruined by a terrible finale
isaiasad21 March 2017
Season 27 started out with a mixed episode (a father's watch) but overall a good season but ultimately ruined by one of the worst finales i have ever seen on the show.

Marge gets arrested for letting Bart playing alone in the park (really?) in the meantime Homer struggles to do her housework but really the episode started good turned horrible in 6 minutes, Homer gets a bunch of gifts because everyone take pity on him but Ned Flanders choking up talking about his two dead wives made me happy they died on him (I really hate Ned Flanders since season 3) meanwhile Marge ends up realizing Prison life is better than her life so she decides to stay there but ends up realizing she misses her family and ends causing a prison break where Homer is disguised as a cop to get her back and she ends up going back home where the entire family hugs in the closet.

While the plot line doesn't seem bad the episode became to predictable that it became boring as hell unlike their previous episodes simprovised and to courier with love which were interesting and fun to watch, what really was horrible about this episode were the two stupid dream sequences homer has about him being the housewife which were not funny but stupid, and boring and unnecessary so they those sequences ruined the episode for me, overall this episode was so terrible for me that i don't recognize it as a finale (just cause it is i won't accept it) so i highly recommend skipping this episode.

Well, now we know.

I just watched this episode as it was broadcast on Channel 4 at 6pm on 7th May 2021 and all I have to say is... you ever wondered WHY Martha Prince never made an appearance in the episode Marge in Chains? Well, here's why!

The episode Marge in Chains seemed to have affected everyone in Springfield... aside from Martha Prince, because she never even appeared in that episode! For that reason, it should come as no surprise as to what she decides to do in this episode. But, at the same time, this episode does make her one of my LEAST favourite characters in The Simpsons, such an absolute piece of [...]
