Is this based on real life or is real life based on this film?

Warning: Spoilers
I had never seen any of the main actors before so I guess they are mainly unknowns (sorry if that upsets anyone), but saying that I think they did a good job. For a first time director he kept the story moving at a reasonable pace. I actually enjoyed this film.

I certainly don't think this film is as bad as some say, but I don't think it is a 9 either. If these had been well known actors my score would have been lower.

SPOILER ALERT:

I don't know if this film is a very fast production of the recent events of the English so called model who says she was kidnapped while on a job in Europe. If so then the film deserves an extra point.

If not then I hope the police investigating that woman watch this film as it gave her step by step instructions on how to give herself a major boost in the media. The timing of this film is extraordinary in either case.

I couldn't help but think about the English model as I watched this film and in some ways it made the film more interesting.

Kept waiting for the ''gripping'' to take hold -
aecree28 June 2017
''Hold on a minute--don't get up yet and leave.''

This thought seeped in after the first 5 minutes was endured.

''Give it a chance, man ''

But no, became apparent this flick was a fail. '' CLICK OFF ''

C- list actor described in the summary was in fact a bad B list actor in reality. The male antagonist, worse, hey! he might have been C- listed though.

Where the feeling of being 'gripped' was derived from, know not.

My interest was never piqued - the bored disappointment at every scene took me over and turned me off.

By All Means Avoid By Any Means.

Absolute drivel. I've seen far better films on Lifetime. Fake ratings have bumped up the IMDb score. I only happened across this garbage on a free streaming site. I want back the 30 minutes I lasted. This movie is about 84 minutes too long. Story is rubbish. Acting is rubbish. Dialogue is farcical and clichéd. Go read the latest copy of OK! magazine instead.

Woeful

Gave up watching this, it's hot garbage. Really, it adds nothing to the genre...

Technically awful, corny, derivative and boring.

The director should be shot, failing that put in a one man dinghy and cast adrift in the ocean so he get get near cinema again!

Actors need more practice
tanzymathurin1 May 2022
The Wyatt girl seems lost maybe the role was too much for her . Her face is flat cant show emotion she does need some more practice although they have been doing out films I must say emphasis must be placed on ensuring lead actors are dominant and fit for their role.

Worth the watch
the_doofy28 June 2017
This is not a ten, but its far from a 1.

The acting is not real good, you can tell most of the actors are acting, including the two main characters. Good actors seem like real people when they do their character in contrast these actors seemed like actors trying to be real people. I did think the homely black woman was a real cop though, so kudos to her for selling her character. Most of the others were adequate, they did not bring the movie down.

The real strength of the movie lies in its script, the story line. You are not given a body count, special effects or a gratuitous booby count, so a lot of modern viewers may not be that interested in this movie.

You are given an interesting movie and pretty good direction,

Worth a watch
lws017 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Actually quite enjoyed this film. It's a little slow to get going in places, but overall I thought the subject matter was pretty interesting and had a good twist that I didn't see coming. I see it's had some poor reviews but I certainly wouldn't rate it that low. For a low- budget effort I think it's worth a watch!

It's not an A lister movie, but it's a long way from a B movie.
Boristhemoggy28 January 2018
Firstly the story is great. I love it and it's current and valid, however the screenplay lets it down with poor dialogue and weak plot points although the decent pace helps out a lot. The acting is like a pendulum: Burfitt and Gipson are sometimes excellent, and sometimes flat, and I blame that not on them but what i think is probably poor and inconsistent directing. The twist at the end is great. You know one is coming but you can't know what it is and it's a good one and well written into the story. It's probably the best written and directed part. It was very gratifying to see they resisted the temptation for lots of gratuitous nudity and sex. Nicely done. All in all a very enjoyable film.

Nice twist on a contemporary story. Worth seeing.
vivzink6 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
What an impressive low budget film this is. It has a nice twist to it that I didn't see coming, so kudos to the scriptwriter. It is nicely shot and for a first time director,he has done an excellent job. Miss Burfitt shows some acting chops that belie her relative inexperience and Mr. King, the detective, is really very good. If I had a criticism it would be the dialog pace needs to tighten up to move the story along and give it more energy. This is worth viewing, there is talent in this film that should not be overlooked.

A good script and a clever twist
aureliecharpentier14 July 2017
You might feel a bit skeptical at the beginning and thing that there is nothing new and exciting in the story-line but wait and see and you will be surprised ! It is actually a clever movie with an unexpected end that will make you want to watch it again with another perspective. Yes, it is a low-budget movie but it definitely worth a watch

An Interesting Commentary on Celebrity Culture
afflarefilms10 September 2017
By Any Means, was entertaining from beginning until the end. I didn't see the twist coming but it was very satisfying for a viewer. The film has a great cast, the acting is strong, and it is very well realized especially considering the budget. You can imagine something like this movie happening in real life. It is worth the watch without a doubt. Why not watch and try and see if you can guess what happens in the end!

The Sting is in the Tail
louiseburfittdons12 September 2017
The fact that real live events have actually copied the premise of this film is a testament to the currency of the topic. I don't want to write a spoiler but I'll just say there is a great twist at the end. The direction is great and the fact this film has won a string of awards from best actress to best film speaks for itself. Low budget, but high quality.

The New Superstar by Any Means
avacado-119 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Wow. What s great movie with a very unexpected ending! Frank also had Me fooled. Him being drop-dead gorgeous certainly helped his credibility. Why didn't Mimi tell the Police Frank had her locked up and tied up in the basement all those days? And the ending with Frank becoming a superstar with his own show and Mimi's agent!! Do you think the agent was in with him the whole time? After all Mimi was kinda losing her edge.

Very clever.
paul-ayres-6078424 February 2019
I can't really add anything new to the reviews already out there but I would like to give this low budget flick a big thumbs up. The acting was strong, the characters well built up and likeable and the script was strong. I wasn't expecting there to be a twist either. Well worth my time spent watching this little gem.. give it a go!

Amazing
mirandatiffany4 October 2017
I worked on this film with Brooke and everyone and I couldn't be more proud of it! I saw the finished product and it is mind-blowing. It is a very unique and interesting film and definitely keeps your attention. I have shared it with all of my friends and family because I cannot believe how amazing it turned out. And how could I keep this all to myself? That would be selfish of me! Haha. I really hope to see this film go even farther than it already has! :)
