We had learned last month that Creed director and star Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan are reuniting for a mysterious “feature film project,” which was later revealed to be a vampire movie. The Hollywood Reporter brings us another update this week, revealing that the untitled feature film project has been acquired by Warner Bros. after a hot bidding war.
THR notes, “The acquisition caps off three weeks of intense interest from movie companies, with Universal and Warners ending up as the final two battling for the crown.
“Part of package’s appeal was the reteaming of Coogler and Jordan, a combo that has proven to be a winning one, both artistically and financially.”

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news late last night that Creed director and star Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan are reuniting for a mysterious “feature film project.”
What’s particularly exciting here is that THR refers to the untitled project as a “genre movie,” suggesting it’s going to fall somewhere within the sci-fi and/or horror genres.
Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) wrote the script and will be directing. THR notes, “It’s based on an original idea from Coogler, who will serve as lead producer.”
The website further details, “The project is operating under such a veil of secrecy that little is known about it. In fact, executives and buyers were forced to make the pilgrimage to the Beverly Hills offices of WME, the agency that represents Coogler and Jordan, in order to take a gander on the script and get details. Those meetings took place last week.

Last year, Ashley Greene (the Twilight saga) and Shawn Ashmore (Adam Green’s Frozen) shared the screen in the Netflix-released thriller Aftermath. Now Deadline reports that Greene and Ashmore have been reunited on the set of the supernatural horror film It Feeds, which is currently in production.
It Feeds will tell the story of a young girl who insists that a malevolent entity is feeding on her. Greene’s character is “a clairvoyant therapist who must confront her own personal demons to save the girl before she is taken completely.” Ashmore is playing “the anguished father, desperately struggling to protect his daughter.”
Deadline doesn’t name the director of It Feeds or the screenwriter, but they do mention that this film is the first in what is planned to be a ten-film slate of genre projects that’s coming our way from Productivity Media Inc and Black Fawn Films.

Exclusive: On the heels of a record-breaking Tko with its Michael B. Jordan-directed boxing pic Creed III for Amazon/MGM, Jordan’s Outlier Society will team with the Mission: Impossible franchise’s Christopher McQuarrie to produce Iron Curtain, a new action thriller in early development at Amazon Studios.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. But McQuarrie and Emmy winner Erik Jendresen (Band of Brothers) will handle the rewrites on McQuarrie’s original screenplay. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo will produce for Outlier Society, which has had a first-look film deal and overall TV deal with Amazon since 2021.
McQuarrie penned the script for Iron Curtain back in 2003 and while he initially set up the property with Intermedia, rights later transferred to Resurgence Media Group, where they remained for years. Raposo has had a long history with McQuarrie, given her 15 years at Paramount Pictures building up to the role of President of Production.

Okay, so I know that the plethora of terrible “[Insert Word Here] of the Dead” films has led to a bad name for the once mighty moniker. However, occasionally there are exceptions to the rule and, while I can’t say this with any certainty, Bed of the Dead looks like it’s one of those. Bed of the Dead begins with a fun premise; two young couples spend the night in a sex club to indulge in some four-way shenanigans. Before anyone can barely get a shirt off, however, they find themselves stuck on a haunted antique bed where getting off now means a horrible, and delightfully gruesome, death.
Director Jeff Maher’s script does something I wouldn’t have expected, and that’s make these characters interesting. Maybe it’s because this is a Canadian movie, but our four bedridden victims are actually likable. Many horror movies confuse unpleasantness for dramatic. If the characters shout at each other enough then that must be interesting, right? But Bed of the Dead attempts to make the characters real people with fears and faults and even a little humor.

In this day and age of cookie cutter remakes and PG-13 so-called horror films, it’s somewhat refreshing when an artful, original, and engaging film like Let Her Out comes along to restore hope that not all is lost. Even though it has some problems, namely some rather stiff dialogue and an underwhelming supporting cast, it’s still – along with The Sublet - the best and most fully realized film that Black Fawn Films (Bite, Bed Of The Dead) and director Cody Calahan (the Antisocial films) have produced.

As far as psychological body horror films go, Cody Calahan’s Let Her Out plays all the expected Cronenbergian beats while exuding a neon hue. Nothing more, nothing less. Canada’s Black Fawn team once again work their indie charms through low-budget tightrope walking, and bring supernatural unrest without some Toronto-sized price tag.
This is a cool, calm and collected attack on sibling rivalries, compact and delusional enough to cruise through a psyche-bending battle of inner-wits. Blackouts skip time while a woman learns about the sister she never knew, until Calahan unleashes a skin-crawling finale that makes up for otherwise mundane plot navigating. Creeps, crawls and all the grossness in between soon rise – it’s enough to keep genre fans engaged on character corruption alone.

No, this is not a remake of 1977’s Death Bed: The Bed That Eats. Yes, this is a Wholly new horror story about mysterious deaths that occur because of a deadly connection to bedroom furniture. Bed Of The Dead is a real, 100% serious thriller produced by the same team responsible for Bite, so that should clue you in on the expected amount of zaniness here. Yet, I guarantee it’ll be infinitely straighter than you’re expecting, as writers Cody Calahan and Jeff Maher spend zero time fucking around with generics. This is a uniquely twisted slice of freakishly-fresh horror that makes its bed and kills in it too, never abandoning sinister chills for anything cheap, cheesy or gimmicky. This is “Wtf” horror, even with such a ridiculous premise.

Written by Cody Calahan (Antisocial 2) and Jeff Maher, the film stars: Colin Price, Alysa King, Gwenlyn Cumyn and more. The film's first trailer is available here. The trailer shows a few dire situations. One character meets a bloody end, in an early scene. Another character is burnt to death. Meanwhile, the four friends fall asleep in the haunted bed.
