Sacrifice

Warning: Spoilers
This episode reiterated something that every one of our survivors should know by now: if you are not prepared to adapt to the world you're in, you better prepare to die.

All of our survivors had to adapt in this week's episode, resulting in them making serious sacrifices in order to avoid death.

Michonne seemed to have temporarily forgotten that adaptation is key to survival. She made promises she should've known she couldn't keep: she promised the Alexandrian who got bit and the girl who was limping from a fall earlier in the episode that they'd make it home. She definitively declared: "No-one is leaving anyone behind".

But this statement didn't seem to serve the purpose of reassuring the lesser members of the group, it rather served to challenge what Heath (the black guy with glasses) said: "If we go, we go together...We don't leave people behind. Not us."

This would've come as a direct insult to Michonne, perhaps provoking her to mislead the others and promise the bitten survivor: "You're going home". Michonne proceeded to absolutely annihilate Heath as she explained to him that he hasn't got a clue what he's talking about. He doesn't know what Rick or any of our survivors have been through, and he doesn't know what it's like to be covered in so much blood that he doesn't know whose it is...but he does know what that's like by the end of the episode when he looks at his reflection in the water and sees his face smeared with blood. Only now, after having adapted and allowing the weakened members of the group to be sacrificed, can Heath survive.

Glenn made the ultimate sacrifice: he (seems to have) lost his life. He could've and should've done what his gut told him to last season. He should've killed Nick when he had the chance. But instead he gave him a second chance. He tried to rehabilitate him; Glenn learnt the hard way that he who is once a coward will always be a coward.

Rick made his sacrifice when he resisted the urge to sprint back to Alexandria to ensure the safety of his children. He fulfilled his duty and focused on the task at hand, regardless of how desperately he wanted to forget about the walkers and get home. This sacrifice was further amplified when he saw that the Wolves had baby food. He knew that meant they had been to Alexandria, but he stayed strong and stuck to the plan.

Daryl also made a sacrifice similar to Rick. He disobeyed Rick's order earlier on but when suspecting Rick was in danger, he doubled back and resisted his urge to get back to Alexandria.

It's also worth mentioning that the cinematography in this episode was stunning, with some very clever and impressive shots we aren't used to seeing.

This was yet another compelling episode which didn't falter in quality in the slightest. I can now positively state that this has been the strongest and most consistent start to a season of the Walking Dead so far. The rest of season six is looking incredibly promising.

Finally, I just want to add that if they come up with some BS excuse as to how Glenn somehow made it out of there alive I will be incredibly disappointed. Although I will admit when watching the scene it didn't look like it was actually Glenn being torn apart, it looked like it was the Nick who had fallen on top of him. But even if that is the case, Glenn was surrounded by hundreds of walkers, on the floor, with the full weight of Nick and those walkers on top of him, with no bullets. So, yeah: he'd better be dead, for realism's sake.

"You don't know."

The Long Journey Back Home
claudio_carvalho26 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Rick, Glenn, Michonne and a group of Alexandrians are ahead of the herd of walkers that detached from the main group attracted by the horn. Rick runs to the RV to guide the herd back while Glenn and Michonne lead the group back home. During their journey, they are attacked by walkers and Annie and Scott are wounded and delay the group. Then they are under siege of walkers. Glenn and Nicholas decide to put fire in a building to attract the walkers but their plan does not work as planned. Meanwhile Daryl, Sasha and Abraham lead the heard away from Alexandria. When Rick is prepared to execute his new plan, he is surprised by The Wolves. What will happen to the survivors?

"Thank You" is one of the best episodes so far with a tense and heartbreaking story. The plot entwines drama and action in a perfect combination. The make-up of the walkers seems to have improved. The death of a lead character is usually sad, but this one is among of the saddest. It seems to be impossible that the character has survived, but the title of this episode is "Thank You" and might have a wider meaning. My vote is ten.

Title (Brazil): "Thank You"

Note: On 22 April 2016, I saw this show again.

angela kang brings us a spectacular episode, full of action and character development
MomentIMDB21 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After some of the best episodes of the series, the sixth season brings us some of the best in the series. The whole episode brings us that suffocation of being so close to the walkers and a despair. The interaction between people is very good. Alexandrian development is very good. Michigan is very badass, something that I appreciate since his characters were always like that. Rick was great and I was stunned when Rick kills all those wolves. Glenn's "death" was bittersweet. The whole chapter leaves that feeling of fear and darkness

my theories on why glen is not dead
hektik-7253326 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I have 2 theories as to why Glen is not dead.

Theory 1

Glenn is not dead. I watched the scene multiple times. When glen falls on his back his jacket opens and hes wearing a GREY shirt that is exposed. When you see the walkers eating you can see its over a tan jacket (the same kind Nicholas was wearing.). Yes they were both wearing tan-like colored jackets but you can clearly see glens grey shirt exposed when he falls on his back. Then the walkers attack Nicholas via the tan- like jacket. If you watch closely you can almost see that the jacket is above glens body.

Theory 2

IMDb shows him as a cast member for 3 more confirmed episodes (by name) and the remainder of the episodes in this season.

I feel sick...
TouchTheGarlicProduction25 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe they went and did that. A beloved character was killed this week, and they almost even managed to outdo said character's death from the comics in terms of shock value. Of course, maybe it was amplified by the fact that I would never have expected it since we're still a long way off from the spot where they died in the comics. It raises the question of who will take their place in that very important scene later in the comic. Perhaps, as people have theorized, it will be Daryl. Only time will tell. But I digress, I should talk about the rest of the episode.

Rick, Daryl, and Abraham try to redirect the horde after the horn. Michonne, Glenn, Nicholas, and several other Alexandrians hide in a town as the horde bears down on them. In this show, unnamed folks are often bit and then die. It's not really a big deal anymore. That's why I was impressed when they managed to make me actually care about one such character this week. But, I forgot all about my sadness for that one-off character when the big one rolled around. The very end of this episode reminded me of the end of the pilot.

No Thank You
SpoodermanDerp26 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
"Thank You" is well written, character-driven, intense and shocking, all the while keeping the same Walking Dead antics. It delivers us a tense ride of emotion, hardship and a grim environment that truly makes us feel like everything might come falling down for the group.

First of, let me delve in to the character aspect of the episode. These characters in the episode, maybe not including a few of them felt really fleshed out. Rick, Glenn, Micchone, and even Nicholas were exalting and their performances stood out throughout the episode. You could feel in the episode their pain and suffering because of the plan that unexpectedly went wrong. Another thing brilliant about them is how they make callbacks to previous episodes or events that explains why there are in that state or what they are doing. Micchone told the others what they should do because she's been out there with Rick and the group. Glenn snapped the others back to tried and get them to their senses because he's been there. Nicholas was scared and panicking because it has happened to him in Season 5 (and it didn't end well), and Rick, well he was badass cause he's always been a badass. You clearly see how these characters no longer need that same kind of boring exposition like from Season 2, but when they actually do add exposition, it!'s necessary and says a lot even if they aren't talking or speaking. But moreover, moving on to the technical aspect of the show, the scale truly looks and feels high. Wide shots of a huge amount of zombies were shown and looked pretty legit. Camera angles which weren't afraid to show the gore or hide something (which would hopefully be explained soon) and the zombie makeup looks well as always even if the show asks for a rather large horde of zombies now. Now let's talk about THAT moment and THAT scene now.

SPOILERS BELOW:

The scene at the dumpster where Glenn and Nicholas are trapped and cornered was and is one of the most tense moments the show has ever had and I'm glad to have stopped eating and analyze it a bit further. I'm pretty sure it got a lot of people raging or sad or thinking about quitting the show, but look further and let me tell you what I think about it. I honestly do not think Glenn is dead. No, it isn't because he may have used Nicholas' body which was on top of him and he went under the dumpster. Although those are also my considerations, the real reason why I don't think he's dead is because the show runners wouldn't do that. Glenn has been one of the longest running characters and being such an important character, he needs a better death, and what more memorable death than the one in the comics *SPOILERS TO THOSE WHO HAVEN'T READ THE COMICS*. If the show really wants to kill him off, they would've added more emphasis on it and end the episode at Glenn's death, but no. Instead the camera panned out and we got some badass Rick. The comics showed a much more shocking, gory and iconic death scene which excellently introduced us to the character of Negan. Now if the show doesn't go in this direction and he actually died, well then consider me surprised. Until then, my speculations are reserved.

Verdict: 9.6/10

The excitement is tearing me apart
fillefranzen26 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The third episode of the sixth season of "The Walking Dead" named "Thank You" truly is The Walking Dead at its best. The episode is centered around Rick's group and what happens after episode 6x01 when the horn sounded. While Daryl, Abraham and Sasha try to stick to the original plan, Rick and the others split up to make it back to Alexandria to find out what's going on. While also being followed by a big portion of the herd. The trip there is proved to be extremely difficult. Glenn, Michonne, Nicholas and Heath along with some other of the Alexandrians arrive at a nearby town but are unable to find a working car. Glenn and Nicholas decide that they need to burn up a building in order to distract the incoming herd of walkers. However, the plan fails which leads to one of the most emotional, horrible and powerful scenes in the series. I understand that speculations have already started on this one so I'm just going to say: I hope he's alive but at the same time I don't want "The Walking Dead" to turn into the next show that can't kill off major characters. Rick is all alone in this episode, well, for the most part at least. After running back to the RV, Rick gets ambushed by surviving Wolves. After out-gunning them all, the noise has attracted a lot of walkers and with the RV not starting, Rick'll one hell of a way back to Alexandria. "Thank You" is the best episode of this season so far and one of the best episodes of the entire series. We got to see walker killing action, survivor vs survivor action and some really heartbreaking and breathtaking scenes. Andrew Lincolns acting is also truly amazing in this one! My vote is 10/10

The thrills and excitement continue!
and_mikkelsen8 February 2024
This episode keeps the pace from the first two episodes and continues with more tense and exciting situations as the heard breaks up, heading towards Alexandria, and our characters needs to find the quickest and safest way home!

This episode also focused more on character development as Glenn, Michonne and Nicholas got their moments!

From the Beginning we have always seen Nicholas as a coward who let panic take over whenever he was in a dire situation! Now we get to see who he really is!

The kills were brutal and the soundtrack was really good at creating a tense atmosphere! Multiple shocking moments as well!

Tense survival
TheLittleSongbird9 July 2019
In its prime years 'The Walking Dead' was to me one of the best and most addictive shows of the past decade. Those prime years being Seasons 1-5. Which is why it angers and saddens me that it suffered such a significant decline with Seasons 7 and 8, which could pass for something else entirely. One of the biggest declines for any show in my mind, have yet to see Season 9 (will do after reviewing all the episodes in Seasons 1-8) but am really hoping that it's better.

Season 6 wasn't as consistent, but still started off brilliantly. Absolutely loved the previous two episodes "First Time Again" and "JSS". Feel exactly the same with the every bit as brilliant third episode "Thank You". Like "JSS", "Thank You" has a lot going on, is taut, is uncompromisingly tense, emotional and is exceptionally well made (actually stands out on that front), like the best of 'The Walking Dead'. Its critical acclaim, despite its again mixed reception here, is very much deserved.

"Thank You" as always for 'The Walking Dead' looks top notch. The gritty and audacious production design still remains, photography worthy of a film, suitably frightening make-up and visuals that don't look amateurish in any way and like they were made with heart and effort. The music is haunting and affecting, without being intrusive. The direction is some of the best of the whole of 'The Walking Dead' up to this point, both visually and providing the right amount and kind of drama. A big standout on both counts was the dumpster scene, which was an absolutely stunning scene in every regard and up there with the show's best individual scenes from personal opinion.

On a storytelling level, "Thank You" is continually gripping and in a way that does enhance plot points and characterisation. It didn't feel like pointless filler, or at least not to me. The action left me on the edge of my seat, the taut dialogue provoked thought and the episode boasted the first "what the heck just happened, that didn't just happen" moment of the season, possibly the closest it gets to that level. The major tragedy is genuinely heart-wrenching and the decision to leave another character's fate indefinite was handled with tension and poignancy, one wanting to keep watching.

As said, the dialogue is taut and thought-provoking, avoiding descending into too much talk in the more dialogue-driven scenes. The Wolves provide the right amount of foreboding. The characters don't bore or annoy and the interactions between them avoid being overwrought and are instead tense and affecting. The acting all round can't be faulted.

Concluding, brilliant. 10/10

Am.. What just happened?
katriinacaune26 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Okei, I'll start by saying that I'm in shock. Glenn is dead? Like ..seriously?

This episode was really, really good. I was biting my nails, because I knew that a lot of characters will die but at the same time I didn't think that a main character would. I was like - okei, that dude just told everybody, that this is Rick's fault - he will die. And that girl Annie was going to die too because you could see that in the season 6 trailer.

I was pretty sure, that Daryl, Michonne and Rick will survive. Abraham and Sasha were in the car - there was no real danger for them so they would by okei as well. And as for Glenn - I thought that he was safe because of the comics and the way how he was killed there.

And when he was killed the way he was, I remembered something that someone - R. Kirkman or S. Gimple - said in Talking dead, when Hershel died : "The more beloved the character is, the more brutal their death should be. " but in that case why Glenn, who was so beloved , died like that? Even though it was interesting that he was killed because of the man he saved, I still thought that he deserved more memorable death than this.

BUT -

I hope that he really did die. Let's be honest - there was no way he could've survived, so I hope that he won't show up in next episode like - I just hide/run/whatever while they were eating Nicholas. That would actually ruin the show, at least for me. I loved Glenn, yes, and it will be weird watching this show without him but please don't bring him back. If you killed him, he should stay dead. Or maybe bring him back like a walker.

Not dead
longhorn_bear6 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Glenn is not dead, so stop telling the writers you are not going to watch the show anymore because you think he is. This ending is going to attract more viewers because they want to see if Glenn survives this horrible scene. One of the various reasons he is alive: Why are Glenn's eyes still open and looking very much alive when you see the intestines being ripped out (from the other guy). This guy is the ultimate survivor.

Also, we needed to see the episode with Morgan showing his back story, so we could understand the changes he went through and how he learned to defend himself with Aikido, but I believe that episode could have been shown earlier or in the previous season.

Brave Glenn.....
eumarius_8926 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
First off all i think that Rick's idea to try to dog walk a giant heard of zombies, maybe the biggest that the show had to offer so far, was just a time-bomb from the beginning. The threat needed to be dealt with but i was expecting more from these hardcore experienced characters. Second, i didn't like the start of the season, those flashbacks ruined everything in the first episode, by the second episode i taught it's going to get better and now this... Instead of seeing a group of Battle-hardened zombie-apocalypse surviving veterans like they taught of themselves to be, we see a bunch of suicidal wannabee's... Stupid deaths are scattered all across the episode, including Glenn's, he was very brave across the season's, but to get soft like that and make so many mistakes...i guess he wasn't that keen on making it back to Maggie... and there was the scene with those clock's that made it a little predictable that something bad was going to happen to him... Very poor episode, if they wanted him to be killed at least he deserved a better death...getting torn apart by zombies when you get this far is just lame..

Worst written & directed episode EVER for TWD
sd-lister30 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Possible Spoiler Alert (though I don't think so): Aside from the obvious plot flaws (the sound of a horn has a limited distance, yet in this show of the Walking Dead, apparently it can be heard MILES away, unlike GUN FIRE...) somehow, our imaginative and intelligent characters decide to be complete idiots for this episode. Our favorite group has lost all sense of reason and has turned into complete douche bags too. First, not once, but twice, they watch someone get eaten without bothering to end their suffering (the dumb look on Michonne's face is priceless had this been a Saturday night parody). Second, it has been proved that covering yourself in zombie blood in this world will conceal you from Walkers and yet somehow, no one remembers it even though Michonne mentions this very thing while hiding in the pet store (and she should know)! So dumb-a$$ Glenn decides to light a building on fire as a beacon (WTF?!) to draw the Walkers instead of covering himself and everyone else in zombie blood as a solution to the approaching hoard. And then, when finding himself in a "fatal funnel", Glenn (and super dummy Nicholas), can't figure out a way to A: climb a fence, or B: bypass a bunch of junk and climb a staircase to a building's second floor/roof. This is the result of sloppy writing and p*ss poor directing.... By the time Glenn was on top of the dumpster, I had lost all emotional connection to these stupid characters. Hey AMC, please DO NOT use the inept writer or the director of this episode ever again!!! I expect much better from The Walking Dead and this is the first time I've ever thought about not continuing with the show.

A song for Glenn Rhee
kurt782517 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Goodbye, Glenn Rhee Though I never knew you at all You had the grace to hold yourself While those around you crawled They crawled out of the woodwork And they whispered into your brain They set you on the treadmill And they made you kind of lame

And it seems to me you lived your life Like a walker in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the rain set in And I would've liked to know you But I was just a kid Your walker blood burned out long before Your legend ever did

Loneliness was tough The toughest role you ever played The Walking Dead created a superstar And pain was the price you paid Even when you died Oh, the press still hounded you All the papers had to say Was that Glenn got eaten by walkers in the nude.

And it seems to me you lived your life Like a walker in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the rain set in And I would've liked to know you But I was just a kid Your walker blood burned out long before Your legend ever did

Goodbye, Glenn Rhee Though I never knew you at all You had the grace to hold yourself While those around you crawled Goodbye, Glenn Rhee From the young man in front of his television screen Who sees you as something more than just a pizza delivery guy More than just our Glenn Rhee

And it seems to me you lived your life Like a walker in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the rain set in And I would've liked to know you But I was just a kid Your walker blood burned out long before Your legend ever did Your walker bblood burned out long before Your legend ever did.

I liked this episode. Goodbye Glenn Rhee.

a stunning episode (literally)
seshasai-tris26 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is a great episode except for one aspect. It is a spoiler so I will write about it in the last paragraph.

The good things about this one - The pacing is well set, the action is perfect and we've seen some cool walker kills. It has been long since the characters roamed around and all of the areal shots are good. I've been feeling claustrophobic seeing the close shots of walkers and actors. This episode gave some good shots of the topography and the towns. The dialogues were crisp and also the screenplay - giving the right amount of time for a scene. The tension was real in this episode, I was on the edge of my seat on three or four occasions. We also get to know that Rick's team has learnt a lot by living on the move all along and how valuable his team members prove to be. And Daryl's motorbike ride sequence was well filmed.

SPOILERS BELOW

The bad part of this episode was Glen's death. I never bought why he fell when the other Nicholas shoots himself. Nicholas was not right in the head and did it and he falls because he is off balance, but I could not buy Glenn falling after him as we all know Glenn has been a survivor and has seen a lot of things. It is unbelievable he can fall off the trash can for a mere acquaintance. Even if the show wanted to kill Glenn, I bet there might be 100 other ways, may be more shocking than this, but I'd have bought that at-least. I wish the studio did this in some other way (may or may not be in more shocking way).

Overall, this is a fantastic episode of the series till now. A lot of things are set in motion. I feel the next episode will be relatively slow to allow the audience to get the feel of the incurred loses.

My Rating - 8.7/10

"Good Luck, Dumbass"
kmoliva1 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Yet again, I was so impressed with this episode. I am definitely adding this episode to my list of favorites. However, Nicholas definitely just became one of, if not my least favorite character which says something considering my deep hatred of Laurie (but, hey, she's been dead a few seasons now, so I guess that's old news). Nicholas just killed, or possibly killed, one of the most beloved characters of the show. He's been around since the pilot, and being this innocent pizza delivery guy, he's definitely one of the more relatable characters. As a side note though, I think everyone knew that he was screwed as soon as they heard him call Rick a dumbass over the walkie. It had that whole 'full-circle' effect going for it, and then you see him go off with Nicholas, and you just KNOW that he's done. It was everybody's warning of this traumatic experience.

It's also gotten a bit redundant with how many character deaths he has witnessed, especially lately, and they always die in really traumatic ways. I feel obligated right now to really praise Steven Yeun and his acting. He has a remarkable consistency in his acting and character. He maintains mannerisms and his reactions. Despite his evolution as a character, he still remains truthful to his character roots, which is really respectable. When I was watching that scene with him and Nicholas on that dumpster, I could see an almost identical performance from him. That look he got, after Nicholas 'opted out' was the same look he had watching Noah die last season (talk about traumatic, even as a viewer). He's definitely respectable, and I greatly appreciate as a fan his presence on the show. And as for Nicholas, if Glenn is really dead because of him, we all say 'thank-you' to the writers for finally killing him off because he definitely deserved it.

Another character definitely deserving of praise is Michonne. As an actress and a character in general, she's definitely grown into one of my personal favorites. Now that she's finally free from her past and her pets, she provides a voice of reason for Rick (which he definitely needs now that he's basically ignoring Daryl), and she's a voice of reality for everyone in Alexandria. The scene between her and Heath I thought had fantastic writing, and they both did an excellent job portraying it. Though, her saying "Have you ever been covered in so much blood that you didn't know if it was yours or walkers' or your friends'?" was such a brilliant use of foreshadowing Glenn (really not okay with me if they killed him), and that's such a beautifully written line. Wow. I was floored when I heard it, and even as I quote it, I get chills. It was flawless delivery too. There's definitely a lot of performance praise for this episode, and it gives me great anticipation for the rest of the season.

My only real criticism for this episode is really just: why'd all of the Alexandrians have to die? Was that really necessary? I understand the writers need to prove that Rick is right, and they're not ready, but the wolves just slaughtered what seems to be half of the town, so did they really need to kill all of these people too? I was really hoping that one guy would get back to Betsy, and she'd still be alive. That scene with him and Michonne was so heartwarming, but then he didn't make it. And his death was such an understatement to what it could have and what it SHOULD have been.

The performance and script writing definitely does a great job at making up for their whole character killing situation because everyone in that cast absolutely killed it, and the writing brought so much feeling and emotion to the story which I greatly appreciate considering, at the end of the day, this is a zombie show.

This isn't happening. And no, I'm not denying anything.
zha-gary27 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
So first, yes, this episode is superb. Probably the best of all and when I first watched it from the start, of course, bunch of folks will die. That was really make me love this episode more. I couldn't even blink.

Second, no, I'm not a fan of Glenn. But yes, i like him tho. He's a great show-runner character, even though everybody who read the comics know exactly what fate do he has, that he ended up dead. But no, not like this. Im not trying to denying any facts that happened in that dumpster scene, and I know there is no way he could escape that Z riot. But he must've did something somehow that we haven't know. I would prefer, yes, he might have been bitten or something, but not devoured like that. It's so not a memorable death, ever. But maybe somehow he hid somewhere.

Here's my theory. I call it Michonne Theory. Because she's the one who brought us onto this concept. She used walkers to be her shield, so no walker could've notice her. Maybe Glenn covered his body with some viscera. Then he crawl under he dumpster, just like everybody who-mad-about-this are saying. And yes, maybe he got bitten or such, or if hopefully, he wasn't. But this death isn't fit for a main character. And I believe the writers aware of that.

A tense and emotional episode that follows Rick and a group of survivors as they try to make their way back to Alexandria while being pursued by a massive herd of walkers
fernandoschiavi15 March 2024
Glenn, Michonne, and several Alexandrians race through the woods toward the community, where the horn continues to blare. It stops, but the group is anxious to return, as they know that only a catastrophic event could have caused the community to attract attention to itself while the horde of Walkers was still being diverted.

In private, Rick tells Glenn and Michonne that the Alexandrians with them "aren't all gonna make it". Rick instructs them to lead the team back to Alexandria, but to keep going if anyone can't keep up. Heath overhears the conversation.

Meanwhile, Daryl, Sasha and Abraham are driving vehicles that continue to lead most of the Walkers away from Alexandria. When the horn goes off, Daryl wants to rush back to the community to help out. Both Sasha and Rick (over a walkie) advise Daryl to hold his course. By staying with the plan, it is much more likely that many lives will be saved.

As Glenn's group makes its way home, many members fall to walkers. Heath and Michonne debate on whether they should leave people behind. Michonne reminds Heath that he never had to survive the way Rick and her group has. He doesn't know what's it's like to be covered in the blood of friends.

While Michonne, Heath, and the injured in the relative safety of a pet store in an abandoned town, Glenn and Nicholas, who is now fully committed to working with Glenn and redeeming himself, attempt to distract walkers by setting a fire in a nearby building. The plan fails, though, and the two men wind up getting surrounded by a herd. Glenn climbs a dumpster and helps Nicholas up. After staring at the teeming horde all around them, Nicholas tells Glenn "thank you", and then shoots himself. Glenn gets knocked into the herd by Nicholas' falling corpse. He screams as he's engulfed by feasting walkers.

Michonne, Heath, and an injured Scott wade through a creek. Heath is shocked to see his blood-soaked reflection in the water.

Rick makes it to the RV. As he is informing Daryl that he has progressed that far, he is ambushed by the remaining Wolves. He manages to kill them all, but several walkers come out of the forest as he tries to restart the RV's engine.

"Thank You" is a tense and emotional episode that follows Rick and a group of survivors as they try to make their way back to Alexandria while being pursued by a massive herd of walkers. The episode is notable for its intense action sequences, particularly the harrowing escape from a horde of walkers on a bridge. The episode also explores themes of sacrifice and leadership, as Rick must make difficult decisions to ensure the survival of his group.

One of the most memorable scenes in the episode is when Rick is forced to leave behind a member of the group, who sacrifices himself to save the others. This moment highlights the harsh realities of living in a world overrun by the dead and the difficult choices that must be made in order to survive.

The worst episode of TWD to date
infinitelyprolonged4226 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was to me the epitome of what a soap opera is through and through. Prolonged shots of characters staring into each other like sheep or staring self-reflectively into their own reflections, veteran characters making stupid mistakes due to the inexperience of new characters (which if you had read the TWD comics never really happens this far into the story, but what bothers me the most is the slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow progression of story that's plaguing the series since the end of first season. That I'm afraid is the result of TWD not actually being a soap opera since it's based on already established story lines so the series writers are trying to prolong that source of material for as long as they can due to the popularity of the series which in my opinion is killing what made TWD great in the beginning, 0 compromise, 0 apology.

Which leads me to the Glenn issue. Glenn is a very important character to the story and his death in the comic books is a turning point for Rick and Maggie and it defines who they will be up to the point of the present continuing comic series. By having Glenn die to zombies (which shouldn't be happening to anyone this far into the story really) they've undermined the impact of his death truly resonating among characters and fans the way it was meant to be and therefore saying goodbye to everything that happens in the next couple of story arcs leading to the present in the comic. That leads to two options, either Glenn somehow survived and he comes back only to be killed again in the manner that he should've been in the first place, which is obviously devaluing his death even more, or he truly is dead due to zombies, which is fu***** lame in the first place, and they'll have to either kill someone else in the manner that Glenn was killed (which really only leaves Daryl to be the sacrificial lamb since he wasn't in the comics in the first place and has some characteristics similar to Glenn in the comics) or they'll just forget about the greatest villain comic books have ever made and the writers of the series will try their luck at making TWD a 20+ season soap opera. Either way the series in my humble opinion just got irreversibly fu****.

So....
meltingmel13 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So.... In the zombie apocalypse - if I started getting eaten alive by thousands of zombies - STAB ME IN THE HEAD for the love of God! They just STARE at him while he is still alive getting eaten! They could have shot him or stabbed him. His was face open and clear. They never do that in the show and it really bothers me. I'm sure they would want the same done for them - seriously. Also - I'm on a rewatch thankfully. I remember seeing this episode when it first released and be appalled about the Glenn death scene saying it couldn't possibly end like that. They've done so much foreshadowing for his death the last two seasons. His death is one of the most important in the comics and the most difficult.

Poor pet store animals
snoozejonc14 January 2022
Rick and the crew split up to deal with the large zombie horde as it breaks up.

This is a strong episode with great suspenseful horror sequences.

The threat of the zombies was significantly fading in comparison to the living characters, but it is definitely back after this episode. I won't go into plot details and spoil, but several of the main 'family' group of characters have memorable scenes.

Danai Gurira, Andrew Lincoln and Steven Yeun are all on great form along with Michael Traynor, who is superb.

The production values are top drawer as always. The scene on the dumpster was very effective and almost put you right in the moment with the characters. I also think the macabre art design is the pet store shows meticulous attention to detail.

My only gripe with the episode was yet another use of 'The Walking Dead' clichéd surprise zombie attack from behind, which were getting tiresome about three seasons ago!
