- Title Card: By the late 1700's, French, Scottish, and American interests began to undermine the dominance of the Hudson's Bay Company. In the years that followed, a bloody battle for control of the wealth ensued.

- British Soldier: [on his knees, trembling] Please, please, have mercy. Please.
- Declan Harp: [walks over with the knife he has been sharpening] This is your own doing. This is not your land. You shouldn't be here. But don't worry, I'll be seeing ya.
- [begins cutting throats]
- Dimanche: [about freed prisoner] You let 'im live, word will spread. They'll know this was you.
- Declan Harp: I'm counting on it.

- Jean-Marc Rivard: Well, when you put it that way it seems somehow a bit silly. But, eh, this man is a special suppliers, looking for a particular type of buyer.
- Samuel Grant: So why didn't you bring him here?
- Jean-Marc Rivard: We have to go to him.
- Samuel Grant: [turns around slowly] I pay *you* to meet with the suppliers so that I don't have to. Perhaps I should go to someone else who understands what I need.
- Jean-Marc Rivard: Like a wife, heh?
