Exclusive: William Fichtner (Hypnotic) has been set to star opposite Free Solo‘s Alex Honnold and his fellow climbing legends Brette Harrington (The Alpinist) and Adrian Ballinger (Edge of the Earth) in The Sound, an indie horror pic set in the adrenaline-filled world of big wall rock climbing.
Written and directed by Brendan Devane (The Canyonlands), the film currently in production in Nevada follows a group of climbers as they embark on the formidable challenge of conquering the Forbidden Wall, a perilous climb that has remained off-limits for years. What initially begins as an audacious expedition swiftly transforms into a harrowing battle for survival against a malevolent force that toys with their minds and tests their resilience.
Intel on the climbers’ roles hasn’t been disclosed, but Fichtner portrays Conner, a father who is faced with losing his son in the same way he lost his father at a young age.

[This story contains spoilers from “So Long, Farewell,” the third season — and possible series — finale of Ted Lasso.]
All season long, the people who make Ted Lasso have been somewhat coy about whether the end of their planned three-season arc would mark the end of the series. Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence and others have said multiple times that this season would mark the end of what they set out to do, while never quite stating that it would definitively close out the series.
The last installment of season three, “So Long, Farewell,” played no such games. The episode felt every bit like a series finale, with callbacks to the past and flash-forwards to the futures of several key characters (imagined or not; more on that in a few paragraphs). The fact that Ted Lasso is Apple TV+’s biggest series by far to date might mean that the streamer and Warner Bros. TV, which produces the show, might find a way to make a sequel or spinoff featuring...

Carly Rae Jepsen is the latest artist to appear on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series, which has arguably become the most sought-after gig in the music business right after headlining Madison Square Garden. Jepsen and her five-piece backing band performed three songs from the artist’s latest album, Dedicated, and were all smiles throughout the set.
“This is the most direct song, to the nose, to the point,” Jepsen said cheekily when introducing “Want You in My Room.” “It is a very ‘come hither’ song…you’ll see what I mean,...

Two executive producers, whose credits include the 2018 Sundance hit “The Tale,” are facing federal fraud and money laundering charges for allegedly running a scheme to bilk millions from investors who thought they were backing independent film projects. According to their indictment, the men instead used the money to spend lavishly on themselves: luxury cars, private air travel, real estate, and more.
Jason Van Eman, who heads the Oklahoma-based WeatherVane Prods., and producer Ben McConley allegedly teamed with a former Miami-based Wells Fargo Bank employee, Benjamin Rafael, who helped pull off the scam.
According to the indictment, McConley and Van Eman lured potential investors with the promise of “matching” their investments dollar for dollar, which they claimed to use to secure a loan to pay for the film’s production. The victim would transfer money to accounts controlled by the men, which they would use for their own purposes. Rafael would...

Carly Rae Jepsen pines for a lover that haunts her on her new single, “Julien.” The song is slated to appear on Dedicated, which will be released on May 17th via School Boy/Interscope.

Here are three of the best albums of 2019 so far. Two of them are surprising and heartening resurrections by American bands who deserved better in their first lifetimes but haven’t given up. The third is bold prog-rock violence from Norway by a band with nearly three decades of mayhem in their discography but is still too much of a secret in this country. May the silence end here.

Director David Robert Mitchell's horror film It Follows has a pretty big cult following. A lot of horror fans really loved what he did with that film. It was certainly an intriguing concept. The filmmaker now has a new film project he's developing for Legendary Pictures.
The film is called They Hear It and it's based on a horror short, the story of which revolves around "a mysterious presence called 'The Sound' that once heard by anyone has terrible consequences." According to THR, the movie will have "the Alfred Hitchcock classic The Birds and Stephen King’s adaptation It as touchstones."
Mitchell will write the script for the adaptation, but he will not direct. He is currently working on his next film Under the Silver Lake. They Hear It will be helmed by Julian Terry, who is the same filmmaker that directed the short film.

Police in Virginia have issued an arrest warrant for Rose McGowan relating to narcotics charges. Personal items allegedly belonging to the Planet Terror star, which were left behind on a United Airlines flight to Washington Dulles International Airport, have tested positive for narcotics.
McGowan has responded on social media, calling the allegations "a load of horseshit" and suggesting that they are part of an attempt to silence her as an outspoken critic of Harvey Weinstein and other powerful men in Hollywood.

While addressing a large audience at the Women’s Convention in Detroit, Michigan, the 44-year-old actress vowed to keep fighting sexual misconduct in Hollywood and urged women to take back their power.

“What happened to me behind the scenes happens to all of us in this society, and that cannot stand and it will not stand,” she continued. "We are free. We are strong. We are one massive, collective voice.”

"It is so not a good look. In the way cooler than Hollywood world I live and work in, I am actually embarrassed to be associated with it."
"The men of Hollywood need to know they own no woman," she continues. "The days of Entourage-like behavior and thinking is as dated as your largely bro nature."

An unresolved childhood trauma leads a paranormal investigator in search of answers in Jenna Mattison’s convoluted ghost tale The Sound. Obscure in more ways than one and consistently uninvolving, this is a vaguely conceived suspenser that’s unlikely to find much support among horror audiences with justifiably higher expectations.

*full disclosure: an online screener of The Sound was provided by the film's publicity arm. **there are spoilers here. Director/writer: Jenna Mattison. Cast: Rose McGowan, Christopher Lloyd and Michael Eklund. Sometimes, reviews serve as a warning. That is the case with Jenna Mattison's The Sound. Her sophomore feature is a cliche-ridden, very flawed feature. The plot barely progresses from paranormal skeptic, investigating an underground subway tunnel. Instead, it stalls out through much of Act I and II, even into the final act. Barely anything happens as Kelly, played by Rose McGowan, struggles with her own mental instability and disbelief. Meanwhile, the protagonist is nearly one dimensional. And, this viewer wonders, with the lack of scares and gore: who is this horror film was really meant for? Maybe, there is a growing child horror fan base, out there. For everyone else, you need to skip the subway train station that says: "The Sound.

Orion Pictures has released the first official trailer for a supernatural horror thriller called The Sound. The film is based on the true events that revolve around a woman named Kelly (played by Rose McGowan), who is a writer and skeptic of the supernatural. As you might suspect, her skepticism of the supernatural fades away when bad things start to happen as she investigates the truth behind a 40-year-old unexplained suicide. Here's the synopsis:
As a specialist in acoustic physics she uses low frequency tactile sound-waves to debunk reported paranormal activities for her online blog. When presented a new case of a supposedly haunted subway station Kelly sets off to uncover the truth behind the hoax that involves a 40-year-old unexplained suicide. Her investigation takes her deep into the abandoned station where her skepticism is tested. As Kelly ascends into the depths of the metro’s darkness she is confronted by an unforeseen evil.

The Sound trailer shows the unusual team-up of Rose McGowan and Christopher Lloyd as paranormal investigators.
While The Conjuring films may have rejuvenated the box office viability of the paranormal horror genre, a smaller scale movie, called The Sound, comes to the table with something unique: Rose McGowan and Christopher Llloyd teaming up to battle a malevolent spirit.
Video of The Sound Official Trailer
The Sound trailer centres on McGowan’s Kelly Johansen, a passionate skeptic of the paranormal who, armed with an expertise in acoustics, utilises soundwaves as the primary tool of reports that she posts online. However, the debunking activities lead her to a case in an abandoned subway – built on a graveyard – in which a purportedly hoaxed suicide occurred 40 years earlier.
Ironically, the case not only uncovers paranormal proof, but makes Kelly the target of a malevolent spirit, forcing her to see disturbing imagery and memories.

The first trailer for The Sound was released earlier this year. Now, the film has a theatrical release, through Samuel Goldwyn Films. The Sound will show in select theatres, in late September. The film stars: Rose McGowan, Christopher Lloyd and Michael Eklund. In the film, a researcher and skeptic investigates an old underground tunnel, which is believed to be haunted. She finds something worse than she could have ever imagined deep below the city streets. As well, a new, updated trailer is available for the film. Several productions stills are also hosted here. The latest material shows Kelly (McGowan) alone in the big city. Once in an abandoned station, she runs into a custodian (Lloyd). She uses acoustics to localize strange sounds. Here’s McGowan’s statement about her song: “I feel like women have not been able to properly mourn what it means to lose to this man and all men, continually.
