Warning: Spoilers
So who is the Broker? He tells Mac he has clients, one of them is just sitting beside him when Mac has finished an assignment but we see an empty room.

Twice Mac has got hit jobs that in a way make to help him feel better as well as paying off his debt to the Broker. He killed his wife's lover and after the racist Lynwood was released due to lack of evidence, Mac got to beat him up and blew him up as Lynwood was planning to blow up a school bus. Mac got payback as Lynwood frightened his best friend's son.

We know Mac has PTSD which we see in the beginning of the episode but Joni is undermining as she plans to sell the house behind his back to pay off the debt. The detective investigating Cliff's murder has found an important lead, songs about Joni. We know where he is heading next and now Joni knows a lot about what Mac is up these days.

The series is simmering in its southern Gothic way, still a bit slow but we see the empty lives of the Broker's other men. Buddy is rebuffed by his boyfriend again and Moses, who is watching Ruth, cannot get gigs to play his music. Sometimes Quarry merges with that other 1970s set television series, Vinyl.
