Worth watching about a SADF vet and his son
bernie-andrew6 June 2017
The movie s a movie about the difficult relationship of a son and his father. His father has served in the SADF in a Recce commando (sepcial force) of the old days in South Africa.

Father and son have lost connection and are arguing about almost everything. It went as far as the son yelling he wished his dad has died in the Grensoorlog at the border to Angola since his father was rarely around when he was growing up. His father, totally perplex by this situation, prays for a way to reconnect with his son. So it happens that his son relives (while sleeping) 4 episodes of his father's Recce life. Through the dreams he realizes that his father loved his new born child and tried everything in his power to be with his son. However the army command did not approve of his leave and his father had to stay on with the army...

It's a very special movie about a special time period. The movie is not overly political correct about the Apartheid and SADF. They just respect the men on the ground and their work for the SADF.

In my eyes it's an 8/10 movie for a South African movie company. They tried hard and they made a movie worth watching. It's a very touching story. As a SADF military fan I must say the uniform, equipment and vehicles (and chopper) used in the movie were more or less those used in that time.
