A Family Entertainer

This film is a good hearty family drama. The moral and cultural beliefs intertwined well with the story line. The climax was surprising however the ending was cliché. I felt that it ruined the messages that were being portrayed throughout film.
Allu Arjun did a very good job. His style and efforts were flawless although at times it felt a little over the top. Samantha's role was unconventional but towards that end of the film she was forced to play a typical heroine. Her style was a little bit confusing as it felt that it was more important to emphasize her physical appearance even though she had a unique character. Upendra was good. He really embodied the different shades of his character. The rest of the cast helped move the story along.
The music was pretty good although none of them were memorable. Direction and editing was good as well.
Overall, Trivikram had a great vision in mind but ended up following the same formula.

A Family Entertainer

Warning: Spoilers
Story : Story is about a son, Viraj Anand (Allu Arjun), who takes up the responsibilities of his family after the sudden death of his virtuous father Satyamurthy (Prakash Raj). Why Anand was forced to take up the responsibilities and what happens to him form the story.
Performances : Allu Arjun underplayed his character a lot in this film unlike his previous films. He is cool and settled. He is super stylish as always. In few scenes, his performance is top notch. It is truly refreshing to see him calm and composed. Apart from Allu Arjun, the true pillars for this movie are Rajendra Prasad and Upendra. Rajendra Prasad delivers one more superb performance and proves again, why he is considered one of the most versatile actors in Telugu Film Industry. Upendra is just awesome. He is menacing as well as sensible. His role could've been more. Samantha is good but her low-neck dresses appear little awkward on screen sometimes. Nitya Menen is nice. Adah Sharma has nothing to do. Rao Ramesh and MS Narayana get tailor made roles and they just cake walked through the roles. Ali entertains while Brahmanandam evokes few laughs.
Story - Screenplay - Dialogues - Direction : Story of the film is really nice. While most films now are selling on immoral and unethical heroes, this film shows the hero as moral, ethical and virtuous who cares a lot about his family and father in particular. But screenplay couldn't do enough justice to the point taken. Many times, the movie appears to be dragging. Trivikram who is known as a terrific dialogue writer comes up with another excellent work in dialogues department. Unlike his recent outings, the dialogues in this film are more sensible and blend well with movie. Direction is good, especially in climax.
Music - Background Score : Music by Devi Sri Prasad is mediocre. Not even one song is likable. He just recycled all his previous songs. But he covers it up with superb Background Score. It is uplifting.
Other Departments : Photography, Art work, Costumes are good. Editing could've been better.
Final Piece : This film talks about a person who is moral, ethical and virtuous who wants to keep his father's name high. It is a great point considering the present characterizations of heroes in the movies. I really liked the way Trivikram connected Rajendra Prasad's conflict point with Prakash Raj's actual intention, in the climax. It is very touching. There is one major comment on the film - Dialogues are not of Trivikram's standards and they doesn't have that Trivikram's stamp/mark in them. I feel it is completely wrong. A truly good dialogue writer always gives dialogues which suit the film and Trivikram just did that. He never went overboard. Take Attarintiki Daaredi for example. It is full of redundant and unnecessary dialogues. This film unlike Attarintiki Daaredi has more sensible and true to the subject dialogues. Plus points are Allu Arjun's screen presence and performance, Rajendra Prasad and Upendra's performances, nice story, superb dialogues, excellent climax and good background score. Negative points are bad music and ineffective screenplay. I would've given 9/10 if not for these negative points.
When it was released, it received mixed responses from both critics and audience (fans). But later when family crowds started coming to the theaters, it picked up pace and finally ended up as one of the biggest hits in the year 2015 by collecting more than 55 crores. It is a must watch for every one who likes in sensible and touching films.

This movie is one of those feel-good family movies, where you'll be smiling throughout most of it, and even after the climax. Allu Arjun is flawless! He single-handedly carries the weight of the film on his strong shoulders. Upendra is great too. Sneha is adorable in a small role, and Samantha is good except for the fact that her lip job disturbs. Everyone is perfect in their roles, and did their jobs well.
One or two things are a little (unbelievably)exaggerated, but I still give it a 10/10 because everything else is perfect. The message they want to convey has strong moral characteristics, and there is emphasis on family values. There's really good comedy and also action (if you like it, I personally don't). Tired of Bollywood, tired of either too much violence and action or mushy love stories that make me wanna puke, this was my perfect refuge. Loved how the movie is about a son's love for his father. Can't praise this movie enough. Will be watching again and again.
I hope Bollywood doesn't ruin it by trying to remake it with mediocre actors.

S/o Satyamurthy-
One of the best family entertainer and a thought provoking film also.. love the emotional core performance from each actors from climax, seriously Prakash Raj did a small role but I think AA made him the real hero of the story. He explore his father greatness and finally redeem something greater...
One of the best AA and Trivikram venture❤🙏

Morally Driven, Epic Action Filled Love Story!
TharsheyN15 October 2022
Son Of Satyamurthy has a interesting storyline, It's enjoyable, has it's own twists and turns, but is simple enough for all to follow. It focuses on upholding ones values and code of honour over money or property, which is an underlying theme throughout the movie and is a core factor to the choices made by the main character. The main story is supplemented by the relationship between Viraj and Sameera which forms the basis of the second half of the movie and the actions which take place in order for them to get her fathers blessing for them to marry.
Allu Arjun and Upendra Rao are both brilliant as the hero and villain of the movie, their characters are like fire and ice and it works well. Adah Sharma is barely in the movie, but she does a good job for the scenes she is in, even if her character seems like a rather shallow, gold digger for the most part. Samantha Ruth Prabhu once again steals the show with her stunning looks, amazing smile and picture perfect portrayal of her character Sameera aka Subba Lakshmi. Nithya Menen comes in rather late in the movie but delivers a killer performance and keeps things interesting until the end.
The songs are all pretty nice though only 1 really stood out for me, that being "Come To The Party".
All in all, a lovely film. It has a sold story dictated by the moral code and values instilled in the main character by his father. A lovely love story between Allu Arjun and Samantha characters and some good musical and dance numbers. A solid 8/10 from me!
