An underrated gem
Rayofsun7125 February 2018
Being from the studio that made Attack on Titan I couldn't pass it up. Very action packed, rather bloody and dramatic but how on earth could I forget the music. Absolutely breathtaking. Too bad it's only 24 episodes but in my opinion this one is overlooked by many. It's really good.

It's unfinished, other than that it's really good
ff-342137 February 2021
Honestly I was hesitant at first but decided to watch it despite some of the bad reviews. I thought it was a really good story with great animation. It's one of those animes where you kind of have to think which side is good and which is evil (in my opinion at least). It also kind of gave me Disney movie vibes because of the backgrounds but that might be because of the fact that it was licensed by universal studios. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that they didn't finish the story, I might pick up the manga. Review: animation: 3 out of 5 story/plot: 4 out of 5 characters: 4 out of 5 music/score: 3 out of 5

Tiresome at times but Gripping in the end
almu9929 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
After a promising first episode I think most viewers are hooked. However I think that the first episode does not quite portray the following first season well enough.

Although the first episode is incredibly fast paced the remaining of the first season is relatively slow. Yu's constantly angry attitude becomes tiresome and it is hard to sympathize with him. The whole training in an academy plot is also tedious and somewhat irritating since the first episode seemed to offer a more diverse storyline than what viewers have already seen from other series and movies.

However there is a release from the exasperation once Yu learns to let go of his anger. That is when the bond between him and his team strengthens and we begin to warm up to him and his friends. Because of the frustration I felt towards Yu, I felt the segments with Mika and the vampires to be a relieving change of scenery. The first season improves greatly towards the end.

Nonetheless I find the second season to be the better of the two. The character's have already grown on to you and the character development (especially Yu's) is very visible. The series also introduces many other characters who are interesting and shows other parts of the ongoing war between the species rather than simply focusing the entire time on Yu.

I can't get enough of this story and a voice inside of me is always wailing and crying saying that it's unfair that anime episodes are around 22 minutes long when I finish the newly aired episode.

Underrated and season 3 required
malayakumar-278102 June 2022
I will admit i felt the series was going a liitle bit slow and i got bored easily, but wait you cant judge a anime by watching only 2-3 episode. This is definitely worth your time.i don't wanna spoil anything but this series is pretty good.i liked it and definitely season 3 needed.

Much better than expected
vaughanynv11 March 2019
If traditional gothic vampires are your thing then Seraph is probably not for you. There is little in the animation that is dark and sinister and this probably owes to the bright colour palette and the relatively weak soundtrack. The show is a fantasy-style blood fest rather than a true horror and should be categorised as such in the mind before viewing. All of this said, despite it's lack of visual edginess, it is an anime that has strong characters with likeable personalities and a strong sense of family, loyalty to friends and duty at the core of an entertaining storyline. If I'm honest, I wasn't expecting a lot, so I was pleasantly surprised by how engaged I was in the storyline and I enjoyed the series in the same way as I enjoyed the film Underworld. Admittedly, what was supposed to be a twist was easily fathomed early on, but there are some books that aren't epics and are nevertheless page turner's. For me this was the anime equivalent.

Too simple for a Vampire series
wwwarmanmajidi4 August 2021
First of all, It has nice coloring but other places like streets and buildings are too blur. But about story I didn't find anything special. Characterizations was not good, characters were empty and their goals too. What's more in season 1, It was like they just moved the story forward quickly without no information. What's more, fights were simple (for Wit Studio i expect more). To sum up In compare with other vampire or like this kind of genre, that was too simple.

The war of vampires
WeAreLive25 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After a virus spreaded all over the world Yuichiro and his friend Miklea and their family from the orphanage they grew up in get captured by the vampire. They take them and the other children somewhere they aren't affected by the virus, but are forced to do do work in an undertown like coal mine. After a failed attempt at failing and the devastating lose of his family Yuichiro flees up to the surface there he meets the vampire extermination unit a team that is lead by Guren there he bows to eliminate every vampire. Along the way he meets various alias including a cute yet spunky girl Shinoa, the level headed Shiho, the timid Yuichi and.the annyoing (just kidding) Mitsuba. Little does he know the vampire had other plans for Miklea. Will they ever meet again?

Honestly, even with the series ending on a clifhanger I really enjoyed this anime. While it can be tiresome but I still enjoyed it overall.

It has cool animation, a pretty steller dub and sub voice cast and a really good soundtrack.

Episodes dubbed and subbed are available on netflix.

Is cool, but not very special.
Lukasmj16 November 2022
With the emergence of a mysterious virus on earth, humanity seems doomed. Only children under the age of 13 can survive this mysterious epidemic. But they pay an even higher price for their survival. Enslaved by vampires of yesteryear and abused as their blood donors, little Yuuichirou Hyakuya dreams of destroying his tormentors and freeing himself and his foster siblings from their clutches forever. On his way, however, he should first learn what it means to lose someone important.

"Seraph of the End" doesn't reinvent the wheel.

Vampires and demons have been the focus of anime so many times, and that two friends are on opposite sides of a conflict isn't new either.

However, the anime is nice.

I found the combat animations to be pretty nice, as well as the weaponry.

Nothing new
erikblues10 January 2020
Just another lame anime using the same main character as every other show.

Main character screams all the time and puts everyone in danger without ever learning anything or ever shutting up. I keep hoping he finally dies and learns his leason. So sick of these boring repetitive and annoying 'heroes'

The best anime I've ever watched
lilyrosetta29 November 2021
This is an amazing anime! If you haven't yet you should totally watch it, especially if you liked attack on titan. Only thing is that it takes way too long to update, and season 3 still isn't out yet.

Rushed extremely until you dont even have time to get salty lol
sisubalan21 September 2022
Giving me a very early 2000s anime especially season 1. Honestly not a fan of the opening or ending song in both seasons. The animation quality gotten better in 2nd season but intensely rushed. Plot wise same as many other early 2000s post apocalytic animations. Sound effects and animation style were mediocre, nothing special. Underwhelming fighting scene (short duration), low skill sets, the story was rushed in almost every episode of season 2. Not sure there will be more after this as i didnt follow any other materials of this anime like manga or game. Voice casts were average. Nothing fancy but still recommended.

Great anime
chlodavy20 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Spoiler free part:

I really enjoyed this show and can't wait for Season 3.

The storyline is very gripping, albeit slow at times, but I found myself watching episode after episode. It's on the darker side which I prefer in an anime and the take on vampires is great.

The animation and art is stunning. I loved how it was done.

Spoilers now:

What lowered the score for me was due to wanting a little more depth with the characters and their personalities. I definitely have my favourites, but some of the characters are quite similar, and they don't really show much of themselves other than their 'demons'. With the exception of Yoichi, the main gang all seem to have smug/sarcastic personalities. A little variation would've been nice.

Also, the love interest that Shinoa and Mitsuba showed towards Yu kind of dwindled out into nothing which was slightly disappointing and I didn't understand why it was included in the first place. Maybe I'm missing something on that?

Other than that, this was a really enjoyable anime and I would definitely recommend it.

Lazy Writing and Very Very Lazy Animation.
rockerrocks21212123 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have never seen an Action Anime that have made me feel so frustrated and angry.

Story: They did not know what to do with this show. There is a mismatch of pace in the entire series. One episode is too slow and the next too fast. Then comes the battle scenes: In the first season Episode 11 ends with the Vampires and the Humans facing off with one another, with the Main Human Army arriving at the battle scene, so you expect a great battle in Episode 12 right? NOPE, episode 12 has no battle at all, with no clue given of what happened to the battle after the Human Reinforcements arrive, Did the Vampires escape? If so how? Did they die? If so How? Were they captured? If so How? You get no answers and the battle scene just vanishes. Lazy Lazy Writing.

Characters: Every one of the characters are unlikable and Smug. Every character be it the Females or the antagonists, always acts smug, even when you are supposed to show anger, they give a smug smile and produce some witty line. You will get frustrated by their attitude, and curse the author for being Simply Incompetent.

Animation: Oh Lord. The Animation is one of the worst I have ever seen in an Action Anime. Oh, it's fine, when they are talking and walking and doing small stuff, but as soon as the battle starts, the animation just breaks down. This anime has some large scale battles, but it is portrayed in the worst possible way: IT'S JUST A STILL DRAWING WITH LOUD SOUND, with no moving elements, I am not kidding. Lazy, just pure and simple lazy. It, seriously feels, people were grossly underpaid to make this Anime, and they just said, well who cares.

PLEASE NO MORE SEASONS. Don't waste your time and money on this piece of Burning Hot Garbage.

Solid anime
jasminn_tan18 November 2021
Another entertaining dark anime. I really liked the textures in this. I found the protagonist, Yu, annoying at first but the character development was A+ as he grew more mature after being grouped with his new team and family. I really liked the found family aspect as well, each of them started out disliking each other but with time, they considered each other family. My favourite characters are probably Guren and Mika because they're just too cool.

Great Anime
Daryladamson26 January 2022
Basic review here. Just a solid. Well animated vampire anime. With good characters and dialogue. You won't be disappointed if this is your genre. Truly enjoyable from start to finish. Bear in mind both seasons 1&2 are on Netflix. Currently (01/2022) Only season 1 is on Funimation!! Which is surprising given Funimation Is the specialist anime app! Still get on it while you can.
