Interesting first episode.

I'm not really an anime person but my friend asked me to give this one a shot. I will say that it looks pretty interesting. The main character is quirky and unique. The enemies are doubly unique and I enjoyed seeing their designs -- I hope there will be more of that in future episodes.

Gotta say, though... I sure would hate to live in this city! The action sequences were all well-done (to me, anyway; someone who doesn't typically watch this kind of thing).

I will continue with this show in the hopes of enjoying it.

Too much power is meaningless..

Warning: Spoilers
**Minor spoilers.**Now all I knew about this anime before watching the first episode was the concept. The concept is simple; it's about a super- hero who can defeat anybody with a single punch. It didn't start very amazingly but it pick up the pace after the second half. There was not much comedy involved however. I'll admit, the giant brother squishing his scientist brother was hilarious in the dark comedic manner and the expressions on One-Punch Man's face are also priceless as we can see how bored he is from the whole One-Punch thing. Not forgetting the fact he's lost his hair because of being strong. That's just badass. What makes it interesting though is we learn where he started off. He was just your average guy who had nothing else to live for and decided to defend a kid with a butt-chin against a monster. He started off like a normal guy; like you and me, nothing special about him. The second half of the episode we learn how he finds life boring now that he has over-trained and there is no thrill in defeating monsters anymore simply because he is too powerful. He wants a challenge and it was the reason why he followed the career path in the first place. The whole scene against the 'Subterraneans' was good and it was amusing to learn how it was all a dream and the actual encounter was completely one sided. The main aspect I loved about One Punch man was, without a doubt, the animation. It was beautiful to watch. The way the character was introduced, the fighting sequences… I cannot fault the animation at all. It was perfect. The music was also brilliant and I enjoyed how the anime made me feel whilst watching it...overall pilot was very good not for everyone because there wasn't much comedy only some dark comedic scenes and the message that what will you do after gaining so much power that you are undefeated life would be boring if you don't struggle for anything you wouldn't be left with any feelings..

You'd think the premise is way to simple... you'll be wrong!

Warning: Spoilers
So the plot is simple just like it says... and at first I was like: "what can come out of it that can be fresh and interesting?" Well the answer is that this show as much as it may seem one-dimensional from the premise has a lot of layers to it. Like how is Saitama so strong? Why does he do what does? And besides that this first episode raises questions about the meaning of a perfect life and how that could be extremely boring. It made me realise why life is so beautiful due to the fact that it has it's hardships or trials or tough periods. It's what gives this life meaning and enjoyment plus fulfilment when you pass those times and you eventually become better, stronger but not perfect... because if you would then you would be as bored as Saitama.

Aside from these philosophical things the episode had awesome humor and crazy action that didn't feel like an extravaganza of action just for the visual sake of it. It actually has substance and relevance to the story. Also watch the episode even after the credits because here is an intriguing scene that gives you some insight into where is the his show going.

Great action, great idea, great animations and great message overall. 10/10 one of the best first episodes in a series that I've ever watched.

This is a great example for bad anime shows

Are you kidding me? the dialog was so bad it was painfull. it seems like whoever painted this just wanted to have fun, so they just exploded everything, did just whatever they wanted without even trying to write something good. the plot is awefull. this is so bad, stay away from this. this is the opposite of a good anime show.

I tried again
ThunderKing628 May 2023
After trying season 1 years ago I've come back to see if this show has any improvements from its previous lackluster state.

And nope.

This review was made on May day the 28th of year 2023 in century 21st.

Please go check out my original review on the OP page. I'm a prolific reviewer and everyone seemed to love my review HA!

Here we go season 2 ep 1 and it's so full an unamusing. The only plus is the 23 minutes passed by quick.

I don't think this show is meant for people outside of the One Punch man cult. This episode didn't engage me at all. I'll try one more episode. If that fails too then I'll move on from this hash.
