Episode 7 has a great opening as Louis is struck down by a fever, experiencing hallucinations as a painting comes to life and warns the King.

It is Claudine's medical opinion that is preferred and this upsets her own father who is the royal physician. Her father hits her and knocks her out but I never understood what or how he died apart from there was a lot of blood. Did he ingest a poison deliberately or accidentally?

As the King is near death, a meeting of the King's circle of trust is convened to discuss his successor. Phillipe is horrified at this but expects to be named as regent as the apparent heir is too young to rule on his own.

Montcourt's, Beatrice and Cassel's plan to conspire against the King may be reaching a successful conclusion as the King is ill, presumably near death and the nobles want Philippe to take Louis's place as King.

Louis is in a bad place, nearing death he suddenly practices new dance moves while the gardener recites Sun Tzu's The Art of War. This is rather handy as Claudine's remedy worked and now the cured King wants to circle on the conspirators by keeping up a pretence that he is still ill.

For brother Phillipe this is bad news as he is told that he cannot be trusted as the one close to him, Chevalier was in league with the conspirators.

Certainly the best episode of the series so far with some wonderful sequences, plenty of nudity at the beginning and then there is the ludicrousness of the dancing.
