Even the Grim Reaper wants a Merry Christmas
Rectangular_businessman24 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
A very simple, yet fun CGI short.

The punchline was quite effective and amusing, having the innocent charm of slaptick humor done right.

The Grim Reaper was absolutely adorable in this, being perhaps one of the most endearing portrayals of Death I've ever seen in one animated short.

"Santa and Death" might not change your life, but it won't hurt either. And considering how bad most of the Christmas Specials done with CGI tend to be, a little gag short without none of the usual schmaltz so commonly found in the holiday-themed films sounds like a very nice choice to me.

Grim Reaper plays golf

Warning: Spoilers
"Santa and Death" is the third of so far 5 movies directed by Moldovan Dmitri Voloshin. The plot is similar to his other works. Grim Reaper appears, but it's all light and fun. here he plays gold in order to steal a present from Santa and he succeeds. But still, the happy ending is not really happy for him with what is inside the package. The early films of the director are all extremely short and this one is no exception as it does not get beyond the one-minute mark. And again, you won't need to speak Moldovan to watch this one as there is no dialogue. But there is some nice music included here. All in all, not a memorable short film, but not a failure either. Fairly mediocre I guess, also for a 1-minute movie.

Death scores a hole-in-one!!! And then he immediately gets flattened.. Spoiler alert!

Warning: Spoilers
Oh dear. Santa Claus is merrily passing by one enchanting snowy night with his classic heartwarming sleigh driven by reindeer and full of presents, singing a jaunty tune and generally minding his own Santa- business, while below the Grim Reaper of souls himself(who has never looked so cuddly!) watches from a distance and aims straight for Saint Nick with his pumpkin golf ball to score some free presents. And he does, only it probably wasn't what he wanted as it's revealed to be an age-old gag that you would commonly see in a lot of Warner Bros cartoons without giving too much away I hope, although I did just describe the entire happenings of this one minute short! Being so tiny there's really not much to it at all, but I don't think that's any reason to dislike it or anything, as even the smallest of productions can hold some kind of meaning, even if it's just a little laughter, and this is practically guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Santa's song is very funny, and I loved Death's hilarious actions as he's lining up his swing and when he does his little dance of victory as if he's scored a goal! I could've sworn that I saw a version at some point where Santa blows up when Death hits him with that ball.. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, I don't know! It sure would have been funnier than what does happen.. The animation and visuals were beautiful, especially the moon, it's very festive and made me feel a little Christmassy and Halloweeny at the same time and it's just very cute and fun. Happy Christmas and/or Halloween!
