The good news is that this episode is an emotional roller-coaster, in many ways unforgettable, and possibly the highlight of the show to date.
In an earlier review of a s02 episode I asked aloud what happened to the sharp writing that had demarked Season 1? Got my answer -- they were saving it for the mid-season break. For this episode.
Also for the record I am still a fan and I will be there for the next set of episodes which I understand are already in production.
The bad news? While it is great that this series found a much-deserved audience, I still think the writers are letting the cast down. What started off as a look into the world of MMA with strong characterizations as a backdrop, has become a show about strong characterizations against a backdrop of MMA.
Not the same thing? If I wanted to be harsh -- and that is not my intention -- I could say that, if the goal is simply to preside over a family intent on self-destruction, I don't really need KINGDOM, I could flip to Ray Donovan.
Or spend time with my own family.
