Andy McNab, the author of the book this movie is based on, is a former member of British SAS. He was captured and tortured by Iraqi forces in the first Gulf War, he was the commander of an eight-man patrol call sign Bravo Two Zero. Sean Bean played him in a film version of that book.
Andy McNab, the author, has also helped choreograph the weapons and tactics for Miami Vice (2006), Collateral (2004), and Heat (1995) (all of which are Michael Mann movies). He has also assisted in lending special forces technical advice to military computer games.
SAS: Red Notice (2021) was re-titled "SAS: Rise of the Black Swan" on Netflix to avoid confusion with the Netflix-produced film Red Notice (2021), starring The Rock, which was also released in 2021.
SAS: Red Notice (2021) is based on the novel of the same name by Andy McNab who is a former SAS Sergeant, highly decorated, served during the Iraqi Gulf War, and currently is the director of a Hereford-based security company. McNabb is a pseudonym and he rarely is seen on camera.
Filming begun in Budapest, and continued in London and Paris.
