This forty-eight minute documentary from Calum Waddell features interviews with directors like Michael Armstrong and Norman J. Warren as well as historians like Kim Newman as they discuss the change that happened to British horror films in the late 60s. We learn about how Hammer was becoming old-fashioned and directors like Michael Reeve were creating films like WITCHFINDER GENERAL, which would lead to the likes of Pete Walker, Armstrong and Warren bringing on a new type of horror.
If you're a fan of British horror then you'll certainly want to check out this documentary, which can be found on the Arrow release of MARK OF THE DEVIL. Not only is that film discussed but the careers of Walker and Warren are also given some spotlight as we learn about their history and just how horror was changing at the time. We also learn what type of impact these movies had on what Hammer was doing at the time. The interviews with the directors are extremely good and we also get a great bit of history on how well these films performed.
